Pastor Allan Ng’s sermon today challenged us to live out our identity in Christ with intentionality and purpose. Begin each day by asking, “What will we put on?” as we consciously choose to clothe ourselves with Christlike qualities. Remember that as God’s chosen people—set apart, beloved, and called—we are to live lives of love, peace, and praise.
Live in love. Unite with one another in Christ, and forgive as the Lord forgave us. Above all, let us put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Live in peace. Embrace the paradox of Christian life: "A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none; a Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all." Let this peace rule in our hearts as we serve and love others.
Live in praise. In all we do, whether in word or deed, let us do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Let us make it our goal to live every part of our lives for Christ, reflecting His love, peace, and glory in all that we do.

In the second week of Advent, we turn to Luke 3:1-6, where John the Baptist is called by God to prepare the way for Jesus. His message of repentance and baptism calls us to acknowledge our sins and prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord.
John’s mission was not only for his time but for all of history, pointing to the eternal significance of turning toward God.
As we reflect on this season of anticipation, we are reminded that we, too, are called to make straight paths for Christ in our lives, preparing for His arrival with genuine repentance and a readiness to receive the knowledge of salvation.

Prepare for Christ’s return! At today's service, Pr Allan Ng in his sermon urged all to watch for signs prophesised in the Bible and recognise God’s hand in the world. Let us lift our heads in hope, for redemption draws near. Stay prayerfully vigilant amidst turmoil. Live expectantly, embracing faith and preparation. Stand firm in His grace and await the second coming with joyful anticipation.

God's missionary heart is seen in Jonah, who was sent to Nineveh despite his reluctance, showing God’s desire to reach all people. As the mission team prepares for their trip to Cambodia, let us pray for God’s protection, guidance, and wisdom. May their efforts reflect God’s love and bring hope to those they serve, just as Jonah’s message brought repentance to Nineveh. Bless their work and hearts on this mission.

Rev. Dr. William Chang delivered a powerful message today on the signs of the times, reminding us that while the end times are inevitable and drawing near, they are not a call to speculate or halt our lives but to prepare ourselves in holiness as we await the Lord. Good works are more than just actions—they are ways we touch others on behalf of God and draw closer to Him. We can physically be in God's presence yet remain spiritually distant. Instead, we are called to fully embrace His presence through fellowship and meaningful good works. Stay watchful, stay ready, and live with purpose as we anticipate His coming!

Rev. Dr. William Chang urged the congregation today to adopt a new perspective on eternity. Embrace the promise from Revelation 21:1-5—a new heaven and earth, where God will dwell among us, wipe away every tear, and end all pain. Hold onto this vision of eternal renewal.
Stay aware of God’s presence. Keep a gentle focus on Him throughout your day. Engage in a silent, constant conversation with Him, sharing your heart and listening for His voice. Dedicate your actions to His purpose. Approach decisions with humility and seek His guidance. Let your love for God overflow into love for others.
Live each day with eternity in mind. Remember: God promises to make all things new!

What is God's will for us? Do you know God's calling for you?
Embrace your unique calling and avoid presuming to know God’s will through mere human intentions. Follow in Jesus’ footsteps by serving others as He did, reflecting the true essence of God’s will. Understand the distinction in Lutheranism between the theology of glory and the theology of the cross: these are not paths to self-glorification but calls to service and sacrifice. Walk humbly and serve faithfully, as Jesus taught us.

Have you ever felt a deep, inner discontent that longs for something more than the world can offer?
In today’s sermon, Br. Lim Geok Seng brought our attention to the bondages we often hold on to—our possessions, grudges, or fears—that prevent us from fully surrendering to God. Just like the rich young man in Mark 10:17-31, it’s not the possessions themselves that bind us, but our refusal to let go of them.

Suffering is an inevitable part of life. As Christians, however, should we measure God's justice by human standards when we face pain and anguish? In today's sermon, Rev. Dr. William Chang emphasized the limitations of human understanding when it comes to divine justice. God, in His sovereignty, is just in His own time and way. He loves us deeply and provides the best circumstances for our growth and sanctification. Let us trust in His wisdom, remembering that He has already demonstrated His immense love for us by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ.

Have we been watchful in our walk with Christ? Are we confessing our sins daily such that our hearts do not become callous to the Holy Spirit?
Rev Dr William Chang at today's sermon cautioned the congregation on the perils of transpassing the perimeters of our spirituality. As Christians, we have been created anew. Be intentional about glorifying God in all that we do. Surrender all our desires and let God be God, reigning over every aspect of our being from the throne of our hearts.
The sermon concluded with an altar call to rededicate ourselves to Christ, requesting God to forgive and to keep us firmly in His grasp.

Have you ever hesitated to ask God difficult questions? Do you wonder if it’s okay to voice your doubts and concerns to Him? Br Lim Geok Seng's sermon at YCCL, based on Mark 9:30-37, explored this topic. The disciples, despite not understanding Jesus' predictions of his suffering and death, were afraid to ask Him for clarity. Their fear of rebuke and shattered expectations held them back. Even Jesus, in his humanity, asked God questions during his deepest anguish, showing us that it is natural to seek answers from God, especially in times of pain. Instead of addressing their confusion, the disciples argued about who was the greatest, missing the deeper truths Jesus was teaching about humility and service.
Are you willing to ask God the hard questions in your life? Don’t shy away from seeking His will, even if the answers challenge your comfort. Approach Him with honesty and openness, trusting that He understands our struggles and desires to guide us through them.

The sermon titled The Mistaken Identity explores the confusion Christians often have about Jesus' true identity. Drawing from Mark 8:27-38, Rev Dr William Chang compares this to the mistaken identity in The Prince and the Pauper. Peter's confession that Jesus is the Christ reflects a partial understanding, as he, like many disciples, expected an earthly king, not a suffering Messiah. This confusion is contrasted with the centurion at the cross, who recognised Jesus as the Son of God, offering a true and humble confession. The sermon emphasises that true faith requires accepting Jesus not just as Saviour, but as Lord, fully submitting to His will. Discipleship is about self-denial, taking up the cross, and following Christ.

Does our faith produce the kind of fruits that reflect the heart of Christ? Have we, knowingly or unknowingly, committed the sin of partiality, showing deference to those of higher status while discriminating against the less fortunate?
The value of a person is not determined by their circumstances but by their faith in Christ. Pastor Allan Ng reminded the congregation today of the importance of adhering to the royal law: loving God and loving our neighbours. We must not neglect the needy or those who are different from us.
As recipients of grace, we are called to be the light of Christ, extending God’s grace to others freely and without partiality.

Are we the wise and understanding people God intends us to be? Do we keep His commandments such that we uphold the good name of our faith? Br Cheng Eng Hwa in the sermon today explained how Christians ought to practise what we have understood from the scripture. We must learn to distinguish between the intent of God's commandments and their temporal forms. Uphold God's law such that our lives led in faith would be pleasing before Him.

Preacher Allan Ng explained how we could appropriate with faith the various spiritual weapons promised in the Scripture, fighting as formidable soldiers of Christ against a defeated enemy.

Our calling as Christians is to live out our identity in Christ. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to change. In the Epistle to the Ephesians, Christians are urged by Paul to lead lives free from the degradations that are commonplace in their culture. Rev Dr William Chang reminded the congregation that believers are given the freedom to choose, therefore be filled with the Holy Spirit from moment to moment, that we may be guided to choose carefully and be watchful in all circumstances, to work out the grace of God who has given us the new life in Jesus Christ.

Many who initially followed Jesus eventually turned away. In today’s sermon, Pastor Lim Kim Hock reminded the congregation of Jesus’ promises: those who believe in Him will find spiritual fulfilment, an invitation extended to all. However, our faith can be shaken when it clashes with our expectations.
Faith means trusting God, whether or not our expectations are met. True faith is rooted in God's work within us. It requires us to trust Him, even when it challenges our understanding and knowledge.
