In this episode, Dr. Claudia Shields and Dr. DaNiesha Colvin uncover the reasons for the national youth mental health crisis. They shed light on why Black youth who face a myriad of challenges are especially susceptible to suicide-- and what we can do to turn around the alarming statistics. LGBTQ+ youth are particularly vulnerable because of the stigma and lack of understanding and acceptance in a community grounded in traditional Biblical teachings. By sharing their professional and personal stories, Drs. Shields and Colvin put a distinctly human face on what some view as an intractable issue.

With compassion and humor, Dr. Madison inspires us to be our best selvesâmentally, spiritually and physically.
