Today we are talking about the hot topic of hormones! I'm going to be sharing a little bit more about my own journey as I sit down to chat with the incredible Julie Derr! We discuss the importance of hormone health, particularly during perimenopause and menopause, and the misconceptions around hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
In this episode, Julie emphasizes how HRT plays a critical role in bone, brain, and heart health, helping to prevent conditions like osteoporosis and heart disease. It's time we empower women to make informed decisions for longevity and improved quality of life!
Julie Derr, based in Nashville TN, has over 30 years of experience in the health and wellness arena. She’s a Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer who has worked with the Ladies Pro Golf Tour, and in multiple outpatient sports medicine and orthopedic clinics.
In recent years Julie has shifted her focus to health coaching. As a Certified Integrative Health Practitioner and Midlife Specialist, she’s an authority on women’s health with her main focus on peri-menopause and menopause. She uses her extensive knowledge of midlife hormones, gut health, thyroid disfunction, plus nutrition and exercise to help clients achieve optimal health.

This is such an exciting episode! I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Joanna Strober, founder of Midi Health! She shares her journey from law and investing to creating a company after 50 that focuses on accessible healthcare for women in midlife.
If you've been following along my journey at all, you know how much I love Midi Health! It's all about helping women, especially women in midlife and beyond with our unique and specific health considerations that most traditional doctors just don't know a lot about. Perimenopause and menopause is not just about hot flashes and not sleeping. It is about real health concerns that if not addressed, can lead to things down the line that can be quite detrimental to our longevity.

About Joanna Strober
Joanna is the founder of Midi Health, a virtual care platform for women in perimenopause and menopause. The company brings expert care, covered by insurance, to women nationwide. Prior to Midi, Joanna founded Kurbo, the first digital therapeutic for childhood obesity, which was scaled to help tens of thousands children worldwide and the company was successfully sold to Weight Watchers in 2018. Prior to diving into digital health, Joanna spent more than 20 years in direct private equity and venture capital investing in health and consumer companies including a number of notable consumer internet companies, including BlueNile, eToys, Babycenter, HotJobs and Flycast.
Joanna is the author of the book Getting to 50/50, a primer on how women can succeed and thrive at work and at home. She has spoken extensively to corporate and graduate school audiences on the topic of women and leadership. She was also named to the Forbes 50 over 50 list of top Innovators in 2023.
