After 5+ years of being a librarian in a small town in Western Maryland, Moira quit to pursue her dream of writing full-time. In addition to being a wife and mother, and writing shorter pieces (mostly dark fiction, horror, and speculative fiction), Moira is also hard at work on revising her first novel-length manuscript, a full-length women's historical speculative fiction ghost story entitled "Edgewood".

Before she started the Your Brain On Facts podcast as a way to vent the copious factoids from her brain, Moxie LaBouche performed and produced burlesque, specializing in “nerd-lesque,” ie dressing up (then undressing as) beloved fictional characters, everything from Cheetarah to Dracula's assistant Renfield. It was also her privilege to produce the only George R. R. Martin-approved burlesque tribute tour and even to play for him. She was a presenter in a local TED talk, talking unsurprisingly about burlesque, and previously earned her living as a goat farmer.

A fiction writer and poet who loves horses, music, reading, and writing. Mostly writes, and reads, in the fantasy and gothic genres. No matter what, everyone has stories to tell buried within them. As a writer, those stories are able to come to leap out of one’s mind and touch other people’s lives. To write is to express one’s deepest imaginings through the creation of new worlds. Writing is an escape from reality, one which brings meaning and fulfillment to the writer’s life. As a writer, the ability to share works with others brings joy and wonder to the experience of life.
