    A quick little message to help you think differently.

    Quick Clips- What If

    I like to live life without any expectations.

    If something happens, it happens. I don’t get worked up about it either way.

    But I do make one exception. And that exception is this: 

    I always expect something wonderful to happen. 

    Why?

    Because expecting something wonderful to happen makes life exciting. You never know what’s waiting for you around the corner.

    New opportunities, new friends, new experiences.

    Your something wonderful could even take you completely by surprise.

    The possibilities are endless.

    And if you start priming your mind to expect wonderful things to happen, you start creating conditions in your psyche and your spirit that attract those wonderful things to your life.

    For now, just start expecting something wonderful to happen.

    It might not happen today, but it will happen.

    Stay optimistic, and let that optimism add light to your life.

    Girl, you need to stop acting like you're afraid of your own potential & start showing up as your highest self, completely & unapologetically.

    Truly joyful, happy people are those who live wholehearted, unapologetic, authentic lives. They don't wear masks, don't present to be someone else, don't let the opinions of others command them.

    They are FREE to be the person they were made to be. Free to live an authentic life.

    Free to love themselves for who they are.

    And yet so often, we feel driven and ruled by what OTHER people want. We want to be authentic...

    You're at a Fork in the Road.

    You are at the Door to Freedom.

    The key to the cage is being given to you.

    You can either open the cage or throw the key away.

    It's your choice. Will you finally step into your authentic self or continue to live a half-full or less-than-inspired life?

    You could try to learn all of this on your own, but it would require hours upon hours of reading and research.

    You wouldn't have the guidance of a trusted expert.

    And you wouldn't know if you were truly making progress or not.

    Or...

    You could be taken by the hand and guided on a journey you know you need, you know you want, and you know will change your life.

    Becca is a Physical Wellness and Mindset Coach in Knoxville, TN. She is 42 years old, has been married for 16 years, and has four daughters. Her oldest is 10 and has Down syndrome, and her younger three are 8 year old triplets. Her life is non-stop!

    Ways You May Unwittingly Deprive Yourself of Love and Fulfillment

    Do you want to let go and live life fully?

    If you feel that you are missing out on fulfillment and happiness, but cannot put your finger on why, perhaps there is something deeper going on.

    Believe it or not, anyone can develop an unconscious habit of self-deprivation. Usually, this habit begins in childhood.

    The meaning of SELF-DEPRIVATION is the voluntary denial of oneself from possessing, using, consuming, or enjoying something desired.

    Have you ever felt trapped in a never-ending cycle of denying yourself joy and fulfillment? Maybe you work long hours at a job you can’t stand just to pay the bills. Or you stay in a relationship that makes you miserable because you feel like you don’t deserve better. We’ve all been there at some point, sacrificing our well-being out of some misguided belief that we’re not worthy of happiness or success.

    But here’s the truth: you deserve to lead a life filled with meaning, passion, and contentment. The only thing standing in your way is you. It’s time to break the vicious cycle of self-deprivation and start putting your own needs first. Keep reading to learn how to overcome self-sabotage, set healthy boundaries, and allow yourself to go after what you want in life. You owe it to yourself to be happy. The journey starts now.

  • Episode # 162 Be Your Own Best Friend


    Why would you want to become your own best friend? 


    There are a number of benefits to creating your own internal support system rather than relying on your partner, friends or family to be there for you when you’re suffering. Having expectations of other people can lead to disappointment, heartbreak, and relationship breakdown if your expectations aren’t met.


    We all have it in us to give ourselves what we need, without seeking it externally.


    Of course, it’s great if you have a strong support network, but you could still benefit from becoming more self-reliant. And what about if you have no one to turn to for help, or if your current support people are unable to be there for you?


    Isn’t it far better to know how to support yourself in times of need? Here’s how to become your own best friend.


    1. Be nice to yourself

    The first step to becoming a friend to yourself is to treat yourself like you would treat a friend. That means that you need to stop being self-critical and beating yourself up. Start by acknowledging your good qualities, talents, and abilities, and begin to appreciate your own unique self.

    When you catch yourself thinking up some nasty self-talk, stop and ask, “Would I say this to my best friend?” If not, then reframe your self-talk to be more supportive and caring.


    2. Imagine how you would support a friend in the same situation

    Think about a loved one, a friend, a family member, or someone dear to you, and imagine that they are in the same situation you are currently facing. Think about how they’re struggling, suffering, and feeling stuck with this problem, then consider how to best offer assistance and advice to them.

    Craft the words that you would say to your greatest friend and then say them gently to yourself. Allow yourself to feel supported, and give yourself what you need.


    3. Honor your needs

    Following the theme of considering how you would help a dear friend, you need to start taking your own advice and putting your own needs first. Do you need a day off from work? A long hot bath? An early night? A wild night? Some time to catch up on your reading, cleaning, gardening, creative projects, social life or self-care?

    Whatever it is that you need, allow yourself to put it at the top of the list rather than the bottom. Be there for yourself and make it happen.


    4. Stand back from your thoughts

    Just because a thought pops into your mind, you don’t need to believe it and act upon it. Not all thoughts should be believed. If you’re struggling with negative thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “I can’t cope with this” remember that it’s your choice whether or not you believe those thoughts.


    “Standing back” from thoughts is a mindfulness technique whereby you imagine that your conscious awareness has taken a step backward, out of your mind. That way you can simply observe the thoughts that pass through, without needing to engage with them. Use it whenever you’re dealing with unhelpful thoughts.


    5. Send compassion to the part of you that is hurting

    Being a friend to yourself involves adopting and mastering the art of self-compassion. Compassion isn’t forceful or solution-focused. Compassion is accepting, peaceful, and loving, without the need to control or change anything.


    I am so happy, grateful, and thankful that I have become my own best friend. It’s a game-changer.

    A romantic getaway is a break from the norm, an opportunity to disconnect from your everyday life and reconnect with your partner. Imagine days spent recharging at a spa, discovering new shops and boutiques, golfing at scenic courses, exploring hidden trails and cherry orchards, or sampling local wineries or breweries. At night, visit some of the top fine-dining restaurants and supper clubs in the state or tour the lively bar scene. From honeymoons and anniversary trips to weekend jaunts and summer-long escapes,

    Nothing keeps the sparks flying quite like traveling together. Navigating new places with your significant other while spending quality one-on-one time is a great way to deepen your bond and create lasting memories.

    And every couple deserves a special getaway to enjoy to their hearts' content — whether your idea of a good time is cozying up in a rustic lodge, lazing on a tropical beach, hitting the slopes, or sipping wine in the countryside. Whether for Valentine's Day or a long Labour Day weekend, it's always a good time to book a romantic escape with your partner.

    Be Alone, Together,

    Now, I’m sure some of you have rolled your eyes at the thought of taking such a “short” vacation. What could you possibly do? Would it be worth it? Or just cause more stress without having the same benefits of a longer vacation? Hear me out! There are so many benefits of weekend getaways!

    Whether you’re a stay at home parent, university student, or working the 9-to-5 daily grind, weekend getaways fit everyone’s budget and schedule.

    For those travelers in school, weekend getaways can be a well-deserved reward after a stressful week of homework, exams, and the never-beneficial group projects. Plus, taking a group of friends for a quick weekend break can strengthen friendship bonds.

    For those stay at home parents, weekend getaways offer a respite from the daily routines and demands that drain your life and energy. Plus, it’s usually easier to find a sitter or drop the kids off at grandma and grandpa’s house for a weekend, rather than a week-long trip.

    And for those of you who do the 9-to-5 shuffle, weekend getaways are perfect for getting out of town without having to dip into the limited bank of vacation days you might have.

    Don’t worry. I’m here to break down all of the major benefits of weekend getaways and why you should start planning for yours today!

    UNPLUGGING FROM DAILY STRESSES

    Are you one of those people who likes to fuss about the daily pressures of life? Most of us aren’t but we find ourselves in a constant loop of worrying about this, fretting about that, even when it has nothing to do with us.

    Getting someplace outside of your norm magically wipes most of our daily stress away. Instead of constantly thinking about your work tasks, laundry loads, or homework assignments, you’re thinking about the next adventure. That new viewpoint you found. What you’ll eat next in your new spot.

    FRESH AIR IN A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT

    Have you ever noticed that you tend to be happier and more peaceful when you escape to the beach, countryside, desert, or mountains? Do you know a big reason why this is?

    Clean air! Especially for those of you who live in a city, did you know that the air outside of the city is generally cleaner? There are fewer people, cars, and factories outside of the major metropolis areas of the world.

    When was the last time you exhaled all you could, and then took a really deep breath? When you fill your lungs to capacity? You know, the kind of deep breath that makes you smile as you exhale and sigh. Was it in the city, or up a mountain? At the beach? Along a back road in the countryside?

    IMPROVEMENT OF FOCUS AND PRODUCTIVITY

    Research at the University of Illinois concluded that people who take short mental breaks, such as a weekend getaway, leads to having a more stress-free attitude, improved focus in productivity over time, and have health benefits, such as lower blood pressure and lower stress hormones.

    Think about it this way: When you use an electronic device for an extended period of time, what happens? The battery gets lower and lower until the device goes into low-power mode, eventually shutting down if not properly recharged. Our bodies and minds work the same way.

    I propose that deactivating and reactivating your goals allows you to stay focused. It is best to impose brief breaks on yourself. Brief mental breaks will actually help you stay focused on your task.

    MULTIPLE MODES OF CHEAPER TRANSPORTATION

    Depending on your location and destination, driving your vehicle might be a cheaper option than purchasing an expensive plane ticket. Especially if you have a vehicle that is amazing on mileage, you have a wider radius of options for a single tank of gas.

    If you don’t have a vehicle, look into taking a shuttle or regional bus. Is there a train route that runs close by? Not only would you be able to experience an alternate mode of transportation, but half of the joy is in the journey itself!

    ROAD TRIPS 

    Road trips are amazing. I think they’re one of the best ways to vacation, if I’m being completely honest. Who doesn’t love cruising down the highway, windows down, radio playing your favorite song as you belt out the lyrics?

    One of the benefits of weekend getaways is the ability to go on a road trip with your friends. Build those friendships. Pack on the memories.

    Imagine taking a short weekend road trip once a month, every month for a year. Not only are you going to be able to check out 12 new places that you probably wouldn’t have otherwise, but you’ll still be close to home if you need to get back for whatever reason.

    FEWER DAYS MEANS LESS MONEY SPENT

    This should be obvious, but generally speaking, the shorter the trip, the less money you’ll have to shell out for accommodations, food, and activities. Now, if you’re the type of person who likes to go-big-or-go-home, this might not be the case for you. Everyone travels differently and has a different style.

    A weekend away means you won’t be traveling too far, bringing those flight prices down. Of course, my point above, you might not even need to purchase a flight if you decide to go on a road trip!

    CARRY-ON ONLY!

    Can I get a raise of hands for those of you who have had to wait for luggage to get unloaded, arrive after you arrive at the airport, or, even worse, have your luggage misplaced by the airline?

    One of the benefits of weekend getaways is that you don’t need to take a lot of stuff with you, so using carry-on services is just perfect! Not only do you get one bag and one personal item for free with most airlines, but you usually get to keep them with you during your flight. Not only is it super convenient to have all of your items with you, but once you deplane, your vacation begins!

    TIME BENEFITS OF WEEKEND GETAWAYS

    YOU PRIORITIZE YOUR ACTIVITIES

    Since you’re on a strict time limit during a weekend getaway, you’d be surprised how efficiently you organize your activities and adventures. You will find yourself only doing activities that are highest on your bucket list and almost guaranteed to be the best the location has to offer you. By packing as many activities as you can into your schedule, your weekend getaway can seem longer in a good way.

    And if your goal for your weekend getaway is to relax and recharge, you’ll probably maximize the amount of time you spend relaxing before getting jerked back into reality!

    NO PTO NEEDED

    For those of you working stiffs like me, paid time off (PTO) is a precious commodity. One of the cool benefits of weekend getaways is the fact that you don’t need to use any PTO. Leave after work on Friday, return Sunday (or extremely early Monday morning), and get back into the grind.

    If you have a boss who is flexible and workable, see if they’ll let you front-load your week so you can leave a little earlier on Friday, thus starting your weekend getaway a few hours earlier to maximize your time. Plus, you won’t feel guilty about missing work!

    I was notorious for doing this: I would work an extra hour Monday-Thursday and leave just after noon on Friday. If you’re unsure if your boss would be amenable to this arrangement, it doesn’t hurt to ask!

    Pro tip: Plan your weekend getaway for those 3-day holiday weekends, giving yourself an extra day!

    BONUS!! ORGANIZING SITTERS IS EASIER FOR SHORTER PERIODS OF TIME

    If you have kids or fur babies, trying to find or organize a sitting situation is a LOT easier for weekend getaways.

    Or you can also travel with your kids and pets if that’s more your jam!

    SOCIAL BENEFITS OF WEEKEND GETAWAYS

    EASIER TO FIND TRAVEL COMPANIONS

    How many stories have we heard about people planning grandiose trips with friends, only having everyone bail along the way?

    Longer trips mean more planning, more time off, and more money. It can be hard to find people to join you (if you don’t want to go solo) for those longer adventures. Weekend getaways are easier for others to join in, help plan, and usually fit better into their budget.

    And on the plus side, if you find a travel companion to go with you for the weekend and you realize that you’re not compatible travelers, it’ll be over soon. Remember: just because you’re friends doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to travel together!

    Pro tip: use weekend getaways to find your ideal travel partner. Travel with different people each time so you can figure out who you might want to go on a longer adventure with.

    My name is Leila, and I am a therapeutic coach passionate about helping my clients to find their purpose, transform their pain, refine their self-confidence, and passionately live the life they want. I have a Master's degree and PsyD-student in Clinical Psychology, licensed as a Psychological Trainee, Master level life coach, certified mindfulness trainer, and AhHa Healer.

    I recently left the corporate world of behavioral health, to pursue my passion and focus on my ability to creatively and holistically work with my clients. After 12 years of working in behavioral health, ranging from early childhood, special education, adolescent treatment center, behavioral health hospitals, and private practice, I am taking by 12-years of training, my gypsy soul, and wild and free heart to reach as many as I can to help them embrace their stories, find their calling, and create balance in ALL areas of their life and being.

You’d think given that realization, we might be a bit more mindful of what comes our of our mouths or spills onto the page. And yet, very few of us make ourselves accountable at the level of our thoughts and our words.

    Watch Your Words

    Are we monitoring them? Are we aware of the message they may send out and what we may bring back in as a result?

    What we think about we bring about.

    Words are so powerful and reflect our thoughts. Here are 8 words commonly used in our everyday conversations with ourselves and others that we need to monitor and change in order to bring about the future we really desire.

    The heart of the problem is making that connection between what we think and say and what eventually shows up in our lives. The gap between those initial thoughts and a specific outcome can seem vast and unrelated, lulling us into a state of complacency and laziness, and leaving us unprepared for what’s to come. Better to begin right now assuming that EVERYTHING we think has an impact — no exceptions — than to continue to randomly throw ideas and words around that may come back to bite us.

    Given that we have millions of thoughts a day, the idea of becoming accountable for them is rather daunting, to say the least. Obviously, anyone who has ever tried to meditate knows that we cannot stop our thoughts. At best, we can watch them, the way one would watch a ticker tape at the bottom of a television screen. We can also choose which ones to pay attention to and invest in.

    That is where their potential to impact our lives begins. You feed and nurture and give life to a thought by paying attention to it. You starve it by ignoring it. Your accountability starts when you make the decision to feed or starve a thought. Once you invest in it and then communicate about it, you’ve given it life — that is when is moves from a random stream flowing through you into the arena of creation. That is where the potential to do good or harm begins.

    Once you know this, there is no turning back. You are not responsible for the thoughts that exist in your being; you are responsible for what you do with them. The origins of your destiny are found right here. To restate it simply: your life is about what you put your attention on. At all times, in all circumstances, we have a choice about how to shape our destiny.

    So watch your thoughts. Choose carefully. And if something slips by, by all means, watch your words.

    Here are 8 "little" words, that will be a BIG difference

    1.Try

    “I’ll try to get it finished by
” “I’ll try to catch up with you on Saturday”

    Whenever I hear someone saying this, or even myself, then I know that they are not serious and it is not going to happen.

    Try is a wishy-washy word that is devoid of commitment, leaving wide open space for excuses to creep in and get in your way. No one created the life of their dreams and positive results by trying. They got theirs by doing and making it happen.

    Make a clearer commitment instead by saying “I’ll have it done by
” “I am free at this time and I can meet you then
” or if need be, “I can’t promise anything but I will do my best to 
.”

    2. Wish

    Wishing is sitting on your couch daydreaming, waiting for your lotto ball to drop or the fairy godmother to appear. Wish removes yourself from the equation and tells you that you have to rely on the powers that be.

    Change wish to “I will
” “I am
” I’m determined
.” “I deserve
” “I desire”

    3. I am

    Be very careful how you use the term “I am” to define who you are. You are not angry; you are not depressed, you are not happy. All of these things are temporary emotions that come and go. If you define yourself as being this way then that identity can have a tendency to stick and what will follow will be excuses such as “I can’t do this because I am depressed” and “There is nothing I can do about it, this is who I am.”

    A better way to say it is “I feel angry. I feel depressed”

    This lets you know that it is a temporary feeling that could quite easily change.

    4. If

    How many times do you mutter, “If I get that promotion then
” “If the money arrives then
”

    “If” always presents the element of doubt. Doubt and insecurity don’t bring you what you want, certainty and confidence does. So instead of “if”, simply make it “when”

    “When I get that new job
. “

    When signals that you are serious and committed and you believe that what you deserve is on its way to you.

    5. Should

    Again a wishy-washy promise word. “I should call my mother more.” “I should go to the gym tonight.” Should is rife with feelings of guilt and complacency.

    You know you are never going to do it and by somehow saying that you recognize you should make you feel better. It doesn’t really; the only thing that makes you feel better is doing it.

    Should can be turned in to “I will
” or “I am going to
”

    6. I can’t

    This is one of those words that can be debated. We’ve all heard there is no such thing as can’t. Well, there is really, I can’t sing. I really can’t. I’m dreadful. But you know what, I can try or I can learn.

    As soon as your brain hears you say the word can’t, it goes on a holiday. It shuts down and celebrates because it no longer has to find a way to do it. “I can try” means that you open up a creative space for learning and exploring that may just bring you new ways of thinking and doing.

    When my daughter says “Mummy, I can’t,” my response is, “Maybe, but you can always try first and see. Let’s have a go!”

    7. Desperate

    When we really want something there is a tendency to attach the word desperate to it, as if this word will hold some power to bring it to us faster.

    “I am desperate for him to call me” “I am in desperate need of a transfer.”

    Desperation breeds more things to be desperate about. It is not an attractive word.

    Instead, say “I am so excited that he is going to be calling me tonight. “I really desire a transfer and am ready to go!”

    8. Luck

    Ugh. This is my least favourite word. If you always for other people’s success off as luck, you are doing two really bad things

    1) Not recognizing and appreciating all the hard work they have put into bringing about the life they desire

    But more importantly

    2) You are saying that it is not possible for you. So you give up before you even start creating the life you want. You think it will only happen to you if a genie appears. This is such a lie. You can have whatever you desire as long as you are willing to do what it takes to get it.

    Focus on what you want, not on what you lack!

    "It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light." Aristotle Onassis

    The number one reason why people are not getting what they want is because they don't even know what they want. The number two reason is that while they are telling themselves what they wash they are concentrating on what they don't want, and what you are concentrating on... Expands!

    Remember to focus on what ver want from now on. Where is your focus? On the positive of the negative? On the past or he present? Do you focus on problems or solutions? This is crucial! 

    Here is where the law of attraction goes wrong for most people and they give up! They say “.I am attracting money.”, “I am prosperous, but at the same time, they focus most of their time on the bills they have to pay, on the money that goes out, on the fact that they are no earning that much. So what happens? They attract more of the things they don't want.  

    You have so many gifts in your life. It’s time to focus on what you have, maximize these gifts, and allow them to help you bloom into your full potential. We so often get caught in the lack game, focusing on what we think we don’t have.

    This blinds us from noticing all the abundance in our life and keeps us from tapping into this abundance. Every day we must develop the reflex to connect to those gifts, be grateful for them, and be proud of where we are at.

    Look in the mirror and tell yourself “I am amazing.” Feels awkward? Even more of a reason more to do it every damn day until it feels comfortable because you actually believe it.

    You will attract more of what you focus on your energy will flow in the direction of your focus and your focus determines your overall perception of the world. Focus on opportunities and you’ll see more opportunities. Focus on success, and your success will come to you
