Ayla Reynolds was just shy of 2-years-old when her father, Justin DiPietro, called 911 on the morning of December 17th, 2011 in Waterville, Maine to report her missing. His story was that she'd been abducted from her crib in the middle of the night by an unknown intruder while the adults in the house were sleeping. Ayla Reynolds never came back home, and remains missing today. Ayla's disappearance sparked a national media storm, catapulting a grieving mother into the spotlight. Trista Reynolds, who wasn't there the night her daughter went missing, believed she wasn't getting the full story from Ayla's father. Eventually police believed it too, and announced that this was no longer the search for missing child... but rather, foul play. What happened in that house that night?

S6 E10 - Dark Side of the Moon - Find Prisma Reyes

Prisma Reyes vanished into thin air on April 17, 2019. Prisma was last seen in Downtown Dallas walking into the Olympus at Ross apartment complex (now named Macallan at Ross) at around 6 pm - her white jeep seen abandoned nearby. She was witnessed on CCTV footage pacing back and forth on her cellphone and making phone calls, close by her ex boyfriend, Ryan’s, apartment near the elevator, just over 3 hours after having lunch with him. She was reported missing after she failed to pick up her son from the babysitter that evening - something Prisma would never do is abandon her only child. The chilling thing about this is that it appears there was nothing off about the day she went missing, at least that’s what WE thought - until we dove in. Is there a red herring within this episode? Any clues that point to what happened to Prisma, or where she is, or what happened? We will explore it all, as well as statistics on missing persons and why this case is an example of why we all need to pay way more attention and diligence to missing minorities.

Paris Lee Bennett is an American psychopath who, at 13 years old, engaged in the brutal murder of his younger sister. In part one, we will bring to light some of the psychological aspects of this crime, as well as talk about a few sexual abuse and assault statistics. The monster, as you all will find out, is a psychopath - it’s been noted that he’s also a genius - all of which is a recipe for a cold, murky and very troubling swamp of clues into the world of this horrifying situation.

S6 E7 -- NO MORE BS - Revisiting Justice for Katie Palmer

A quick recap - Katie Palmer was a 39 year old mother of two. She was a middle school science teacher, who LOVED animals and had a smile that could warm the heart of the most callous human being. It could melt a snowman. She loved ALL of her kids - not just her two children, but also was pretty much a significant source of love for the ones she taught, as well. She truly embodied kindness and her love was pure and honest. One morning, April 21, 2020, she was walking alongside a road with her husband, John Palmer, looking at a particular bird called killdeer when she and John both were struck from behind, knocked out of their shoes and thrown approximately 70 feet. The impact severely injured John, breaking his back - but he had the strength to immediately move to Katie’s side. She was barely hanging on, and we would come to find out that the impact had ended up killing her. Today we will talk to John Palmer and offer up some updates and some ways to actively help obtain justice in this case.

Samantha Tapp, a 16 year old girl who grew up in the system with her sister, Kendale, went missing from her home in Burleson, TX back in 2004 and has since been classified as an endangered runaway. Many believe that those who go missing for long periods of time have in fact succumbed to murder; however for Kendale and Sam’s best friend Vanessa, they believe otherwise. You can’t disregard your gut instinct, because it very rarely, if ever, fails you. Kendale and Vanessa, who will be interviewed for this episode, believes in their gut. To honor the wishes of the two young ladies we will interview, we will not presume that Sam has left the earth realm. We instead will attempt to get answers and possibly reach Sam herself.

She has been victim-centric and always engages with empathy within the organization (which she co-owns with her husband, Gregory Love, both who are lawyers versed in Sexual Abuse Prevention). Kim will give you, the listener, insight into what she and her husband does, share some tips for everyone who listens whether you lead a child serving organization, are a caregiver or parent to a child, or really just anyone who would love to be involved in either now, or in the future.
FACT: One in four girls and one in six boys have been or will be sexually abused in their lifetime.
FACT: Sexual abusers not only groom the victim, but they also groom the victim's parents, guardians, or caregivers ("the gatekeepers") in order to obtain trust and find their way in the door.
FACT: 90% of victims are abused by someone they know and trust with abduction scenarios ("Snatch and grab") are a mere fraction of sex crimes.
FACT: Less than 10% of sexual abusers will EVER encounter the criminal justice system.
FACT: Child serving organizations are only as strong as their weakest link.These organizations are the most at risk for child sexual abuse. Ministries in particular tend to be trusting in nature, which creates critically low protective barriers - an enticing target for sexual predators.
FACT: Background checks aren't enough. Vital as they are, they are not a silver bullet and they do have limitations.
FACT: There are patterns in predatory behavior, known as the abuser's grooming process, that are predictable - therefore, preventable.
FACT: Predators do not have a specific "look" to them, as they do fly under the radar. They look like you or me. Many abusers come from all segments of society, with many of them being married, have their own families, and are educated. Many appear helpful, trustworthy and responsible.

Juan “Leon” Laureles was a kind, sweet and quiet 30 year old living in central Texas when on or around May 10, 1996, he was murdered - his car set on fire - all believed to be a hate crime. In the days prior to his murder, Leon confided in coworkers that he was being harassed and stalked. Arlene Harbison, his surviving niece, has been very vocal in trying to get his story told and to get justice and closure in the case of his murder. Was it perpetrated by those who hated him because he was different? Were the police aware and involved? Why can’t Arlene be shown an official autopsy report and where is all the media coverage on Leon? We attempt to figure out the answers and more.

Admittedly, this has been a very tough case to talk about (and hear about), but important. Mariah needs to be heard, as she is not only speaking for herself, and for her living children, but she is giving a voice back to her daughter Willow, who will forever be unable to speak for herself. Alex VanDalsen, a transgendered man, was murdered, but his case was conveniently labeled a suicide. His mother, Jennifer VanDalsen, has spent nearly three years fighting for answers and justice. Due to recent events where Jennifer was once again tossed away and considered disposable by local authorities, we gathered together to have a round table discussion and refresh on his case, as well as a firm request of everyone listening to not only say his name, but bring awareness to his case. Mariah Lee Gardner escaped, barely clinging to life, from a brutal attack on her and her children at the hands of her ex-husband, Stephen Clare. Today, Mariah will continue to recall the events that led to the tragedy that occurred April 10, 2023. We dive in a little more on the links to Narcissistic Personality Disorder and domestic violence, and pose the question of whether or not you always listen to your gut. As for Stephen Clare - the crimes he committed are all pieces of a pure living nightmare, one that had all the signs, albeit difficult to see. Narcissists are very thorough with carrying through their plan if it is something that will make them look good. We urge you all to recognize the signs of Narcissistic Abuse from family members and even friends, whether you have fallen victim to it or not. The timing of this recording was challenging for me due to the recent loss of my mother, but I was determined to continue with 'Not So Nefarious Criminals' because I needed that sense of normalcy and laughter. I even felt like my mom was right there with us, sharing in our good time. This season is more serialized than it is episodic, and we felt the urgency to raise awareness on all types of sex crimes - starting with Sexual Extortion, or "Sextortion". For the season and series finale, we will be concluding with “Rachel, pseudonym, who was sexually assaulted by Adrian Vildusea, the perpetrator from the original Minding The Beehive series. She just recently came forward and her story is heartbreaking. We also wrap this up in a nice pretty bow with a classic mic drop - because the victims of ALL OF THE ASSAILANTS discussed WILL get the last word. We hope to raise a ton of awareness and warn you that ANYONE can be victimized by any of this. BEE VIGILANT.

Jennifer is a bright and kind human being with a smile that literally lights up a room - but hidden behind that smile is a world of trauma and unanswered questions as she was sexually assaulted at a young age by another child. Jennifer has only wanted answers, closure and to pursue her right to records via FOIA, but unfortunately she's continuously silenced or brushed off. This episode will be disturbing, and yet, bring on plenty of questions because this is something that you rarely, if ever, hear about - it happens way more often than people talk about.
