  • THE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER is a beautiful watch. There are a lot of versions of it — the classic version is basically all black, with white hands and white markers; it comes on a steel bracelet. Last week, Omega released a new Speedy (see above), this time in white and blue. And, on the nine o’clock subdial of the watch is little drawing of Snoopy, the cartoon dog. He’s holding an oxygen tank, wearing an astronaut’s helmet, and “doing the moonwalk,” as my guest for this episode, Robert-Jan Broer, describes it. He’s the found of FratelloWatches, created the Instagram hashtag #speedytuesday (which has over 240,000 posts), and is the owner of two Speedmaster Snoopy’s. The caseback is the most stunning thing about this new Snoopy: it has this super realistic moon, an earth that rotates, and — if you trigger it — you see a little spaceship with Snoopy inside of it fly over the earth, into the stars, and back behind the moon. Why is snoopy moonwalking on the dial of This speedmaster? Well, Snoopy, Omega, and NASA have some history together. Robert and I get into that and why this watch — and Speedmasters in general — are so amazing.
