Phoebe is worried when she learns her pub licence is set to be revoked, and comes up against a tricky character who stands in her way of keeping the pub. Gary clearly doesn’t know how to act around kids, but after a holiday away with Phoebe to see her younger cousins, Gary starts feeling a bit more comfortable about the prospect of becoming a father. Yvonne’s dream of the perfect little family comes to an abrupt halt though.

Being an entertainer in two different eras, starts to take its toll on Gary, as he clearly has taken on more than he can handle. With concerns from Phoebe, Yvonne and Ron, Gary heads to the doctor to ask for help, and once medicated it all gets a bit too much for Gary and his life as a performer.

Under the guise of being paid for working for Ron, Gary gives Yvonne money earned by taking items from 1941 and selling them to a record collector. Yvonne has become the leading lady in the Willesden Wildians but Gary objects to her doing a love scene with the leading man and thinks up a plan so that he can take his place. Gary scores a big hit in 1941, too, when he enters a talent contest and gains an agent, Mr. Wix, who wants to send him on tour.

As Gary continues to find it hard adapting to life in the 1940’s, Gary makes the choice to return to the 1990’s. Gary hasn’t been missed though, and slots back into his double life. When Gary returns to the 1940’s, he is seen as a chicken for not doing his Firewatch duty. Gary silences his critics by doing a night of fire watching, but the experience leaves him shell shocked. Meanwhile. Ron has found himself an admirer.

Yvonne has been given a promotion at work, and although at first Gary is over the moon for his wife, his world is turned upside down when it means that they would have to relocate to Cheshire. Gary comes up with a ludicrous plan to avoid moving up north, and chooses to commit to staying in the 1940’s, but Gary soon comes to realise that he isn’t cut out for war torn London.

Gary’s constant late nights away from home, is starting to worry Yvonne, but Gary eases her mind by saying it is because Ron is working him hard, in a job role that Gary and Ron have made up. Gary aims to make it up to Yvonne by offering to take her out for dinner, but it just so happens to be on the same night that Gary is also having dinner with Phoebe back in 1941. Can Gary really pull off a masterstroke, and have dinner with the two women in his life, at the same time, but five decades apart?

Gary is off to court after being taken in by the police for being drunk at the wheel of his work van. This leads to even more problems regarding Gary’s job, and putting more strain on his marriage with Yvonne. Meanwhile, Phoebe is also down in the dumps, so Gary has to stop thinking about himself for a change, and help out the two ladies in his life.

Series Two has arrived!
In this episode of ‘A Trip Down Ducketts Passage’ we review Episode One of Series Two of Goodnight Sweetheart, called ‘Don’t Get Around Much Any More’.
Gary is persuaded to return to the past by Ron to try their ‘Get Rich Quick’ plan one more time. Surely there is no way it can fail this time? Trying to avoid the Royal Oak on his trip back, Gary bumps into his old friends, and realises a lot has changed since he last visited. As strange as Gary’s life already is, how will Gary react when he realises he may have turned up in a different TV sitcom?

Festive edition of 'A Trip Down Ducketts Passage'.
After Yvonne finds out the true cost of Gary’s wartime hobby, Yvonne warns Gary it’s time for him to stop with his obsession. As Gary clears away his memorabilia, he comes across a video tape that could help him back in 1940, as he knows the exact time and place that he can take his wartime gang to meet the King. all goes to plan and there are celebrations between Gary and Phoebe. However the celebration is cut short when Phoebe gets some worrying news, leaving Gary questioning whether it is time to leave the past in the past for good.

After things had been left in a bad way with Phoebe in the last episode, Gary contemplates leaving the 1940s behind for good. Something that benefits his marriage with Yvonne as they are both buzzing and loving every second with each other. However, a news report in 1993, claims that an 80 year old Phoebe Sparrow has been attacked, leaving Gary questioning if he has to return to the 1940s to eventually marry Phoebe, so that it doesn’t mess with the course of history.
