The first and most successful in the Baroness's series of books that feature Percy Blakeney, who leads a double life as an English fop and a swashbuckling rescuer of aristocrats, The Scarlet Pimpernel was the blueprint for what became known as the masked-avenger genre. As Anne Perry writes in her Introduction, the novel "has almost reached its first centenary, and it is as vivid and appealing as ever because the plotting is perfect. It is a classic example of how to construct, pace, and conclude a plot. . . . To rise on the crest of laughter without capsizing, to survive being written, rewritten, and reinterpreted by each generation, is the mark of a plot that is timeless and universal, even though it happens to be set in England and France of 1792."

"The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" is a classic detective novel written by the renowned British author Agatha Christie. It was first published in 1926 and is often considered one of Christie's most ingenious and groundbreaking works. The novel is the third installment in her Hercule Poirot series, featuring the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as the protagonist. The story is set in the fictional English village of King's Abbot, where the wealthy and seemingly respectable Roger Ackroyd is found dead in his study. The circumstances surrounding Ackroyd's death are mysterious, and it appears to be a suicide. However, Dr. James Sheppard, the village's physician and the novel's narrator, has doubts about the apparent suicide. The plot takes a fascinating twist when Hercule Poirot, who has retired to the countryside and is living nearby, is asked by Dr. Sheppard to investigate the case. Poirot agrees and soon begins unraveling the complex web of secrets, lies, and hidden motives among the inhabitants of King's Abbot. What makes "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" so remarkable is its innovative narrative technique. The novel is famous for its unreliable narrator, Dr. Sheppard, who recounts the events and becomes Poirot's confidant throughout the investigation. Readers are kept in the dark until the final chapters when Poirot gathers all the suspects and unveils the truth in a dramatic reveal.Agatha Christie's skillful plotting and the unexpected twist ending have made "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" a classic in the mystery genre. It is often cited as one of her most ingenious and controversial works due to the audacious narrative choice Christie made in selecting Dr. Sheppard as the narrator. The novel remains a favorite among Christie's fans and is celebrated for its contribution to the evolution of detective fiction.

When Kate “ACunningPlan” Cunningham sparks up an online friendship with a fellow fanfiction writer it seems like the perfect distraction from a summer stuck in her hometown of Kamloops, B.C., not to mention the coming terrors of her final year of university and the Real Adult Future beyond. (Seriously, please don’t mention them.) After all, Hella--Enchanted is funny, smart and writes canon-divergent werewolf fic like no one else. She’s everything a fandom could ask for.
But... what if she’s everything Kate could ask for, too? -

The Star Collector. An original audiobook. Follow Joe Corbit as he traverses the galaxy in search of the greatest collector’s item of all time!
When a distress call leads space-sheriff Joe Corbit to the ruins of a lost, alien civilization, he finds an illegal archaeological dig underway. The Chinese Galactic Empire is working alongside the Martian mob in order to smuggle an ancient artifact across state lines.
One deadly shoot-out later and Joe finds himself the sole custodian of the curious relic. His plan is to auction off the artifact to the highest bidder, that is, until he finds out why the Chinese were after it in the first place. They believe it to be an ancient super-weapon. What’s worse, they think it’s already been activated and is targeting every human being in the galaxy.
All Joe has to do is stave off the most powerful space fleet in galaxy, long enough to prove that this whole “ancient super-weapon” thing is being blown way out of proportion.
You see, Joe is hellbent on selling this artifact. Even if it kills him. -
It's called oneiromancy, and we used to exult it: this idea that our dreams could reveal things about ourselves we couldn't see we our eyes. We don't believe in it anymore, but do you think it ever stopped?
Don't answer that. I know you don't care. But I know a lot more about you....
I've been dreaming about you.
