Just like all those involved in the Easter story, we’ve been given the opportunity to participate with Jesus in His Kingdom. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses four characters involved with Jesus’ trial and crucifixion who missed the invitation to a better future: the high priest Caiaphas, Pontius Pilate, Judas Iscariot, and the Roman soldiers. They all believed something else, like money, power, or status, was more important than God’s invitation. We have the same choice to make. Will we be deceived by the world, or will we have the courage to answer Jesus’ call on our lives?

Even though Jesus told his followers exactly what was going to happen, they were still shocked to find His tomb empty on Easter morning. What are we misinterpreting about events in the earth today? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the disciples’ misunderstanding at Jesus’ empty grave, the confusion present in the Church today, and three truths we can rely on when things get disorienting. He shares these foundational ideas: Jesus is unique, the grace and mercy of the gospel lead us to repentance, and we have been forgiven. Our culture is becoming increasingly deceptive, but God is moving like never before—and we can trust in Him!

When Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly on Palm Sunday—the Sunday before His crucifixion—there were three groups of people reacting to His arrival: the disciples, the crowd, and the adversaries. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses Palm Sunday from Matthew, Luke, and John’s individual perspectives. He teaches about the difference between each group of people’s reaction to Jesus’ ministry. The disciples were all-in for the Lord. The crowds were eager to support when it was easy, but their minds could be swayed. The opposing people, the religious leaders in Jerusalem, wanted Jesus gone. These groups still exist today, and we need to decide how we’ll respond to Jesus. Like those on the first Palm Sunday, let’s determine to welcome Him into our towns, homes, and lives.

Both angels and demons were present as He worked in the earth, and Pastor Allen shows that we can’t ignore the influence of spiritual things today. He illustrates the division and deception present during Jesus’ life even as He worked incredible miracles, like resurrecting Lazarus, and he shows us that we have a choice to make, too: Will we side with the Pharisees in unbelief, or walk with Jesus in belief?
