Zoe Cooper is a super-talented filmmaker who dropped by for this great wide-ranging talk! Lots of practical writing advice here. Should this have been part of our VHS series? Perhaps, but this title felt better. We delve into topics like how to collaborate with a director, how to take notes well, and the illegal reptile trade!

We're joined by director Anthony Cousins again for an unconventional episode that will take you inside the process of making GRIND-- perhaps too inside?! One of the segments features a content moderator driven mad by the horrible videos he sees. Anthony's creating these videos for us, and we brainstorm them live on the air. So it does get a little dark! But also just lots of fun chat about the filmmaking process in general and what's up next for the lord of the bog Frogman!

This week's episode (delayed by the fires!) is a request we got from a listener somewhere along the way. Well, you asked for it, and now we have become the Bishop of Battle! Is there anything educational about this TV pilot gone theatrical? Why does that rat have psychic powers? Is the Terror in Topanga segment less scary than being in Topanga is right now? All this and more on this week's episode!

Is there anything scarier than watching the first assembly of your film? Well, we do it on today's episode as we've finally gotten our hands on the lost segment of GRIND!! We document our thoughts before and after viewing as we try to capture the unique psychological torture of facing your footage for the first time!!

We're taking a brief break from our V/H/S series to talk about what we accomplished this year, what we didn't, and what we learned! We also present each other with an anthology built out of the best segments we've watched this year! It's kind of like a fantasy draft, but not really. We're gonna do that someday!

Our journey through the V/H/S series continues with one of the high points-- V/H/S 2! Is the legendary "Safe Haven" segment still as good over a decade later? What exactly is the mythology behind all of these tapes? Should this movie actually be called SD CARD? All of this and more on this week's episode!

No modern horror anthology looms as large as V/H/S, so we're embarking on an epic journey through every single film! We'll be interviewing as many of the filmmakers involved as we can. Along the way we'll also intersperse other episodes because this is truly going to be a whole side show of its own. Some of these episodes will probably be Patreon-exclusive but once again that Patreon is completely free! You just gotta join!!!

In 1997 Robert Bella was the toast of Sundance with his debut film COLIN FITZ LIVES! He was followed around the fest by the TV show 48 Hours, who thought he might be The Next Big Thing. But when he struggled to make his second film, he stumbled into the world of post-production supervising, eventually working for Steven Spielberg. Then he walked away from it all to chase his dream of being a TV writer, eventually getting staffed on several shows. And THEN he became a tv director. And THEN he's been transitioning all the way back to indie film. Robert's journey is both inspiring and a fascinating portrait of the film industry over the years!

When you're working on a low budget indie and looking to cut costs, the role of script supervisor is often the first one eliminated. But GRIND script supervisor Alexandria Perez is here to say STOP-- don't do that!! We take a deep dive into what a scripty does and why they're essential when making your film.

What happens when you cram five filmmakers into the bedroom of Ed's airbnb at Fantastic Fest because the rest of the house is too echoey?!! Anthony Cousins and Rebecca Daugherty, co-directors of Fantastic Fest World Premiere THE LAST THING SHE SAW, and Steven Hugh Nelson, writer/director of the upcoming OLD WOUNDS, join us as we run through every single movie we saw in Austin this past weekend. What were our favorite films? Which films...weren't? And-- Anthony and Becca tells us all about their experience premiering at the festival while everyone (except Ed) struggle not to pour wine on the white comforter.
