Those words are a warning to any who might wander into the Mountainside Bed and Breakfast nestled in the mountains along Highway 102. During the first Halloween out of the vault, Rabbit and his friends (among others) try to have a nice fun night of friendship, board games, and the occasional snack. Little do they know that their choice of venue hides a dark secret.
This is the second planned âminisodeâ of Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story. For this story we look at what happened during the first Halloween outside of Vault 76 directly before the events of âThe Halloween Where Nothing Happened,â the episode of CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story that introduced first introduced Xander and Rabbit. This tale is set between the events of episode 7 and episode 8 in the timeline.

Season 1 - Episode 08: Of Rabbits and Robots
Far in the future, deep within the dark and increasingly shrinking confines of Vault 63, Xander seeks a brief reprieve in the nebulous bathroom created by Mr. Dark. This respite is short lived however, and he resumes the story that began several years prior. Unknown to him and the other survivors of the fires above ground they werenât the only ones who had made it into Vault 63.
While working on some projects for customers of the workshop Xander, Gina, and Archie plan a trip to RobCo Research Center to seek out parts and plans that might help bolster the shopâs defenses. Along the way they learn that Archie seems to be suffering from some peculiar abnormalities in his memory.
Meanwhile Eddie meets with a mysterious and potentially dangerous new employer who has an assignment that he simply canât turn down. Who are these mysterious employers? What might this assignment be? What impact will his actions have on those around him?
Some of these questions just might be answered.
Everyone is beginning to find their place in Appalachia, but how long will they be able to maintain their footing before things are shaken up?

Cooking isn't always easy but in the wasteland it requires a certain special something; something Xander clearly lacks. A brief back-and-forth with Archie leads the gang into an unexpected competition joined by some even less expected contestants.
This is the first planned "minisode" of Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story. For this story we take a look at something a bit less serious (but still a bit absurd.) With the holidays having taken center stage last month we wanted to give our cast a bit of a breather, so we have prepared this special story in the meantime. We are currently hard at work with episode 8 and will have that ready for release next month on our regular schedule.

âWhat the hell is a Dieathalon?â
Thatâs the question on the lips of spectators and participants alike as the spotlights shine on Chad Johnson in the mezzanine of Top of the World. Picking up after the events of âPerk Problems - Part 1,â this episode reveals what happened to Xander and the gang (and Eddie) after their encounter with Chad, Moose, and Punch at their âVault 69 Gym.â The group will be getting their steps in as they are subjected to a special kind of competition that they didnât sign up for.

In the future, time begins ticking away in Vault 63 as outside forces try to break their way into the Overseerâs Office where the gang has taken refuge from the electrified ghouls. As the dust settles, Mr. Dark gets a story that he may not have anticipated in his search for what he wants.
As the gang tells their story, they recount a particular trip to the Vault 69 Gym. Despite some reservations, the gang has their own individual reasons for checking it out- and some of them are presented with various dangerous challenges by its proprietor: the one and only Chad Johnson.

Picking up immediately where the previous episode ends, we now find out what ultimately happened to Xander on the way back from the Landview Lighthouse. As things unfold and night turns to day Bryce and Robin seek out Snallygasters, Trixie learns something that sounds important, and Rabbit copes with the aftermath of the night before.
As light is shown on one of the stranger, more morbid truths of the dwellers of Vault 76 other mysteries are bubbling up behind the scenes, and even in the far future Mr. Dark hears a small piece of what he seems to be searching for in Xander's tale.

Tensions start to rise- both externally and among the 76ers- as Mr. Dark helps reveal some secrets that test how much Xander, Rabbit, Gina, and Archie can trust one another, despite desperate circumstances and danger closing in on every side.
Continuing his story, Xander recounts how he dealt with witnessing his first death in the Wasteland with questions and frustrations abound- along with some encounters from faces from the Vault that bring him to some places he never expected. In other areas of Appalachia, Gina and Archie start making a forward plan and Bryce finds a new traveling companion in an energetic cryptid enthusiast.
Things are definitely about to get weirder... and some actions have irreparable consequences.

As the story after the end continues, Xander and Rabbit find out they may not be the only survivors in Vault 63.
Meanwhile, we flashback to the boys and their first meeting with "Bob" who has their first job waiting for them. Gina and Archie run into some old acquaintances from 76 on their way back home. For both parties, there are some lessons about who to trust out in the Wasteland and figuring out the variations on risk vs. reward.
As we learn more about out eclectic collection of vault dwellers, we also explore some of their personal motivations and goals- and a bit more about who's willing to do what to make it in Appalachia...
