One hour just didnât seem long enough to chat with accomplished drummer, touring musician, author, teacher, percussion coach and session player - Rich Scannella. A friend of Dianeâs from their high school band and orchestra ... they recently re-connected at Musikfest where Rich was performing with the band Tonic.
During our conversation, Rich shared stories, advice, and lessons he learned from his experiences and journey as a full-time musician. The list of bands heâs played with is long and distinguished but if we must name just a few, how about Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Tonic, Brian Fallon, Nicole Atkins, Gary US Bonds, Debbie Harry, John Eddie, and so many more! Rich has toured all over the world, played the biggest stages, worked with dozens of famous producers, teaches at Rider University, and wrote a book called Ghost Notes which takes a deep dive into the many behind-the-scenes' stories he has!
When you listen to this podcast youâll realize that the key to Rich Scannellaâs continued success is built upon more than just his amazing talent. He credits the genuine habits of hard work, punctuality, being a consummate professional, and adapting to each situation as fundamental to making his mark on the industry. He is truly a chameleon who adapts and applies himself to any situation, and all musicians would benefit greatly from listening to his perspective and insight!
Rich will be on tour in January with Tonic playing on the Rock Boat out of Miami to South America. He'll also be playing the Montage Mountainfest Outdoor Winter Music Festival on Saturday March 1st with Better Than Ezra. Summer dates will be announced soon.

The NJ rock band â Hollow Heroes â stopped by APVâs Studio recently to chat about their music, the history of the band, and their plans for the future. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Rise Against and Silverstein ... Hollow Heroes has crafted a signature sound with their instrumental blend of rock and punk, accentuated by the rich textures and power of Whiteâs vocals.

It was equal part inspiration and motivation during our latest podcast with Jersey Shore's spoken word poet and hip-hop artist, Chris Rockwell. Living by the motto "You have to be amazing!" is what drives this young artist to not only relentlessly perfect his crafts, but then take them one step further to make a difference in the world. He believes wholeheartedly that âattraction, not promotionâ is what connects you to the people you need to know and then shows you the ways to be more impactful.
Whether itâs highlighting the poetry of writers in his publication Soup Can Magazine, organizing cultural events, writing & recording music, or going on tour with the Chris Rock Collective, itâs apparent that the words âtake it easyâ arenât part of Chrisâ vocabulary. In addition to touching upon all of that, Chris spoke at length about his upcoming event CANDEMONIUM for which he won a grant through the North To Shore Festival. It takes place on June 23 at 1pm at Sister Jeanâs Kitchen in Atlantic City and will showcase southern New Jerseyâs most talented spoken word artists and hip-hop stars! This event is also a chance to give back to the community. CANDEMONIUM will serve as a community food drive, collecting canned goods and food donations for Sister Jeanâs Kitchen in Atlantic City. So, bring your generous spirit and make a difference!
Tune in to hear more about the talented Mr. Chris Rockwell and make sure to check out his many accomplishments!

Half of Jet Ransom came by to play a few songs and chat. With Drew P - vocals / guitar, Teddy - vocals / guitar, Jonny - bass, and Jon - drums, they seem like they have a real knowledge of the bands that came before them and are looking to forge their own unique path. Listening to them, you might hear a little 60's, a little 70's, and well beyond.
They are thematic, melodic, and truly enjoyable.

We had the utmost pleasure of speaking recently with marketing professional and entrepreneur Melissa Peterson about her brand-new venture called Divvy Music. Having worked for years with emerging artists, Melissa wants to level the playing field by providing a cutting-edge music streaming service that prioritizes indie music and connects those artists with a genuine fanbase. Concrete revenue streams, individualized attention, and sustainability are at its core and the intent of the service is to complement, not compete with, current streaming services.
Just last week, Divvy Music launched its Kickstarter campaign seeking funds to launch the beta app by the end of the year. Donor rewards include opportunities to be the first to see the prototype platform, give suggestions, invitations to launch events, being part of the inaugural playlists, and more. For more information on Divvy Music and to support the Kickstarter campaign, you can find them on Kickstarter before the campaign ends on May 23.
Tune in today to learn all about this exciting new service to be designed exclusively for emerging, indie music!

The musicality, technical acumen, and pure vocal brilliance of the Bryan Hansen Band is undeniable. And we were thrilled that they brought their eclectic blend of alternative-rock/soul/blues and funky goodness to the AP Vibes studio for an unforgettable podcast and acoustic session.
Bryan Hansen and his bandmate Will Blakey epitomize the essence of synergy in their musical partnership. Their seamless collaboration, built on mutual respect and shared passion, creates an electrifying energy in their recordings and on stage. With Bryan's soulful vocals and masterful guitar skills complemented by Will's rhythmic finesse, the duo crafts a sound that transcends genres.
During our podcast, Bryan and Will spoke at length about the band's growth and progression over the years, as well as touching upon their influences and songwriting techniques. Bryan treated us to an acoustic version of the band's 2023 hit, "Death of a Yes Man" and we took a deep dive into their 2024 recently-released, scorching single, "Poison."
Tune in today and listen to this thoroughly engaging conversation with Bryan and Will of the Bryan Hansen Band! And trust us ... you're gonna want to add "Poison" to your playlist!

They may not be the musicians APV typically interviews, however the women leading the charge at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey are rockstars in their own right. I spoke with Hotel Manager Giuseppina (aka Laura) Ferrara and Director of Sales Margot McPherson recently with the goal of highlighting female entrepreneurs for Womenâs History Month in March.
Laura and Margot spoke about their ultimate mission of making The Berkeley a premiere destination at the Jersey Shore by closely aligning with the vibrant community of Asbury Park. Now incorporating music concerts along with their other offerings of corporate events, weddings, and family get-aways ⊠this hotel gushes both nostalgia and modernization through its beautifully maintained spaces and amenities. Never willing to back down from a challenge or new opportunity, Laura and Margot spoke in-depth about looking at every obstacle knowing thereâs a corresponding solution. They approach every issue with the mantras, âHow can we get to yes?â and âIâll be the light at the end of the tunnel!â so that every challenge results in a win.
Take a listen to this enormously inspiring podcast which illuminates the progressiveness, intelligence, and fortitude of two local entrepreneurs who are leading by example and forging a definitive path to success!

Mike Noordzy.
An enigma wrapped in a stand-up bass. You may have seen him with Renee Maskin or in any number of local establishments around central NJ, such as the Jazz Duo, The High Standards Trio, or The Wright Trio.
Needless to say, he is one talented feller.
Here, we talk about his new release, "Dark Sparks." Mary Mehalick joins Noordzy as they try to convince Doug that this is not a jazz album.

The classic rock-inspired outfit RĂȘverie recently took some time to chat with us from a recording studio in Boston. The band consists of Alec Demello (vocals), Liv Barcohana (bass), Gilliam Robles (piano/vocals), Victor Echaniz (drums), Christian Mangiameli (guitar), and Michael Forry (guitar) who met through, and are all currently attending Berklee College of Music.
Christian and Victor spoke about the spectrum of influences driving the creation of their arena-rock sound with many compliments being paid to Alec who has the innate ability to channel the energy and wide-reaching registers of the likes of David Lee Roth in his heyday. Also paying homage to the incredible talent of their other bandmates during our conversation, the entire group seems equally dedicated to making RĂȘverie a success. Their exploration and progressive take on the classic rock genre - along with each member's stellar musicianship -sets this band apart from the others.
RĂȘverie has just released a beautifully intense and melodic masterpiece titled âDigging My Own Graveâ that fully demonstrates the groupâs versatility and advanced musical chops. Tune in to dive into the world of RĂȘverie and learn more about this band on the rise!
