Another week and another four battles. First up, it's Rutherford's Farm July 20th, 1864 in Frederick County, VA as Jubal Early continues his move away from Washington.
In the big battle of the episode it's the Battle Of Atlanta on July 22nd as Sherman looks to finally take Atlanta once and for all.
Jubal Early is at it again at the Second Battle Of Kernstown on July 24th where he launches the last major raid in Union territory in the war.
At the First Battle Of Deep Bottom on July 27th-29th as part of the Siege Of Petersburg.

Coming up this week we are covering four battles from three campaigns. First up is the small battle of Camden Point in Missouri on July 13th, 1864. Part of the Paw Paw Rebellion, Union soldiers attacked Confederates who were caught by surprise as they were having a picnic.
The battle of Tupelo was fought July 14th-15th where Union troops battle Confederate forces to ensure the safety of Sherman's supply lines for the Atlanta Campaign.
At the battle of Cool Spring in Clarke County, Virginia on July 17th-18th, where Jubal Early continues to make his way back from the Washington D.C. area.
Our last battle of the episode is the Battle Of Peachtree Creek in the Atlanta Campaign on July 20th. Confederate Lt. Gen. John Bell Hood launches his first major attack against Sherman since taking control of the Army Of Tennessee from Joseph E. Johnston.

Coming up this week we have another 4 battles including 2 that reach the doorstep of Washington D.C.
Our first battle is the battle of Sappony Church on June 28th, 1864, which was part of the Wilson-Kautz raid to take out Confederate supply lines.
The first battle of Ream's Station was again part of the Wilson-Kautz raid and took place June 29th, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.
Then we move to the battle of Monocacy on July 9th as Jubal Early attempts to divert Union forces away from the Petersburg siege and make his way to D.C.
Our final battle of the episode is a big one for the Union. After their defeat at Monocacy the Union must now make sure Early doesn't march into Washington D.C. at the battle of Fort Stevens on July 11th-12th with the Capital building in Early's sight.

We have three battles this week as we continue on with the Siege Of Petersburg and the Atlanta Campaign. First up, the battle of St. Mary's Church on June 24th, 1864 as Union forces try to protect a wagon train headed for the James River. This was the last battle of the Overland Campaign.
At the battle of Staunton River Bridge on June 25th, Grant sent troops to try and destroy Confederate rail lines to cut Lee's supplies.
Our final battle of the day, Kennesaw Mountain of the Atlanta Campaign on June 27th saw Union Major General William T. Sherman's most significant frontal assault of the campaign. The Confederates hope to stall Sherman's march to Atlanta.

We continue on with the Siege of Petersburg as well as the Atlanta Campaign. But first, we have a 1v1 ship battle just off the coast of Cherbourg, France. On June 19th, the USS Kearsarge followed the CSS Alabama to a French port. When it was clear that the Kearsarge wasn't leaving, the Alabama was escorted out of French waters where the battle between the two ships would commence.
Next up is the battle of Jerusalem Plank Road on June 21st-22nd in Petersburg Virginia. The Union's aim was to extend their siege lines to the west and cut the rail lines that supplied Petersburg.
We end the episode with the battle of Kolb's Farm of the Atlanta Campaign on June 22nd. Confederate Lt. Gen. John Bell Hood believed he had an opportunity to defeat the Union forces in front of him but the Union had other plans.

We have two battles on this week's episode starting off with the Second Battle of Petersburg on June 15–18, 1864 where Grant tries to take Petersburg once again before ultimately having to settle on a siege of the city.
We wrap up the episode with the battle of Lynchburg on June 17th-18th in Lynchburg, Virginia where Union Maj. Gen. David Hunter attempts to capture the city from Confederate Lt. Gen. Jubal Early. This was the last battle in the Lynchburg campaign.

Coming up in this week's episode is three battles in three states. First up is the battle of Brice's Cross Roads fought June 10th, 1864 in Mississippi in which a federal expedition force commanded by Samuel D. Sturgis was defeated by a Confederate force commanded by Nathan Bedford Forrest. This was part of what was known as "Forrest's Defense Of Mississippi."
In our second battle we go to Kentucky for the small battle of Cynthiana on June 11th-12th where Union forces stopped a raid by Confederate Brigadier General John Morgan and his raiders.
Our last battle takes us back to Virginia and the Overland Campaign and the battle of Trevilian Station on June 11th-12th. Union cavalry under Maj. Gen Philip Sheridan faced out against Confederate cavalry under Maj. Gens. Wade Hampton and Fitzhugh Lee. This was the largest and bloodiest all-cavalry battle in the Civil War.

Next up is the small battle of Old River Lake on June 5th-6th, 1864 in Chicot County, AK as the Union try to make their way to Lake Village. The battle of Marietta, GA occured during the Atlanta Campaign during a series of battles in the era during June 9th-July 3rd. This is a small but significant skirmish because of the death of Confederate General Leonidas Polk. We end the episode with the 1st Battle of Petersburg in Virginia on June 9th which kicks off the events leading to the Siege Of Petersburg.

The Battle of Cold Harbor took place May 31st-June 12th, 1864 in Hanover County, VA during the Overland Campaign. It is remembered mostly as an unnecessary battle in which the Union suffered a lopsided loss that earned Ulysses S. Grant the nickname "The Butcher"

The Atlanta and Overland Campaigns keep on going in this episode as we start it out with the Battle Of Pickett's Mill on May 27th, 1864 in our only Atlanta Campaign battle of this week. We end with 3 Overland Campaign battles which are Haw's Shop on May 28th, Totopotomoy Creek on May 28th-30th, and Old Church on May 30th.

The Overland and Atlanta Campaigns rage on in this episode! First up, we got the 7th battle of the Overland Campaign on May 24th, 1864 in Charles City, Virginia where Confederate Maj. Gen. Fitzhugh Lee attacks a Union supply depot. This battle is notable as it's the first encounter of The Army Of Northern Virginia against African-American troops of the Union.
Next up, the battle of New Hope Church, the 7th battle of the Atlanta Campaign on May 25th-26th in Paulding County, GA sees Union Major General William Sherman still trying to break through Confederate General Joseph Johnston's lines.
We end the episode still at the Atlanta Campaign and the battle of Dallas, GA on May 28th.

Coming up this week we have three battles from 3 different campaigns once again. We start with the battle of Yellow Bayou which was part of the Red River Campaign and took place May 18th, 1864 in Louisiana. We follow with the small battle of Ware Bottom Church on May 20th and this was the last battle of the Bermuda Hundred Campaign. We end it with the big boys going at it once again, it's the Overland Campaign and the battle of North Anna which was actually a series of 3 actions taking place May 23rd-26th.

We got three battles from 3 campaigns in this week's episode. First up, on May 15th, 1864 we are at the battle of New Market in Shenandoah County, Virginia in the Lynchburg campaign as Union Major General Franz Sigel attempts to capture Staunton, Virginia.
Next, we head back to the Red River Campaign at the battle of Mansura in Mansura, Louisiana where Confederate forces look to destroy Major General Nathaniel P. Banks' army.
Lastly, we are back at the Atlanta Campaign at Adairsville where the Confederates want to delay the Union so General Joseph E. Johnston can set a bait trap.

We are back to the Overland Campaign in our first battle of Yellow Tavern which took place May 11th, 1864 in Henrico County, VA. It was small battle but significant because of the death of J.E.B. Stuart after he was shot and killed by a retreating Union soldier. We move on to the battle of Proctor's Creek on May 12th-16th, part of the Bermuda Hundred campaign in Chesterfield County, VA. We end the episode with the battle of Resaca in the Atlanta Campaign on May 13th-15th where William Sherman's forces faces off against Joseph Johnston's forces in Gordon and Whitfield Counties, GA.

Fresh off the Battle Of The Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse, we take a break from the main armies of both sides we have two battles from the Bermuda Hundred Campaign and two from the Crook-Averell Raid. First up, the battle of Swift Creek fought on May 9th, 1864 in Chesterfield County, VA where Union Major General Benjamin Butler looks to destroy a local railroad. Also on May 9th, in Pulaski County, VA, we have the battle of Cloyd's Mountain in which Union Birgadier General George Crook destroys a major bridge on the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad used by Confederates to carry troops and supplies. We head back to Benjamin Butler at the battle of Chester Station on May 10th where his army is attacked by Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard and his army. Lastly, we go back to the Crook-Averell Raid at the battle of Cove Mountain May 10th, where the Confederate try and stop Brigadier General William Averell from attacking one of their lead mines in Wythe County, VA.

After the Battle Of The Wilderness, The Army Of The Potomac moved southeast to find a more favorable fighting ground. The Army Of Northern Virginia followed and the two armies faced off at the crossroads of the Spotsylvania Court House from May 9th-21st. Lee now realizes that Grant will be like no other General he has faced from the Union so far.
In this episode, we also cover three small battles that preceded this one which were the battle of Port Walthall Junction on May 6th-7th in Virginia, the battle of Calcasieu Pass on May 6th in Louisiana, and the battle of Rocky Face Ridge on May 7th-13th in Georgia. The last one being the opening battle in Sherman's Atlanta Campaign.

We are on to the first HUGE battle of 1864! It's the Battle Of The Wilderness and The Army Of The Potomac faces off against the Army Of Northern Virginia. This is Ulysses S. Grants first big battle since taking over the Union Army and he would prove to more aggressive than any of his predecessors. The battle of was fought May 5th-7th in Virginia and was the opening battle of Grant's Overland Campaign.

We continue on with the Red River Campaign as we take a look at the battle of Jenkins' Ferry which occurred April 30t, 1864 southwest of Little Rock, Arkansas. This being the last battle of the Camden Expedition (part of the Red River Campaign) the Union looks to continue their retreat into Little Rock as the Confederates are hot on their tail. We end the episode with the battle of Albemarle Sound on May 5th, in North Carolina in which eight Union gunboats try and stop three Confederate warships from advancing up the river in their attempt to retake New Bern which has been in Union hands since March of 1862.

We start out this episode with more of the Red River Campaign as the Confederates attempt to trap Union Major General Nathaniel P. Banks and his troops at Monett's Ferry in Natchitoches Parish, LA on April 23rd, 1864. Then, we stick with the campaign but move to Arkansas where, on April 25th, 1864, where the Rebels attack a Union supply train on it's way from Camden to Pine Bluff.

We have some more Red River Campaign in this episode as Confederate BG Tom Green attacks Union gunboats at the battle of Blair's Landing on April 12th, 1864. We move to Kentucky for the battle of Salyersville on April 13th-14th which was the largest skirmish in Magoffin County during the war. Finally, we end with the battle of Poison Spring on April 18th where the Union continue to have no luck reaching Shreveport.
