In one of his favourite and probably most important episodes, Michael uses the video essay "How Fight Club Turns Men into Space Monkeys" by the YouTube channel "Like Stories of Old", to discuss how it parallels the dynamics of dominance and submission, particularly the appeal of the "unconflicted" alpha figure. Michael reflects on human instincts around hierarchy, the yearning for role models, and how individuals surrender their individuality in the pursuit of symbolic immortality. He emphasises the importance of critically examining the motivations behind following dominant figures and how these connections offer a sense of meaning and escape from existential fears.

Amendment: Around 6 minutes, I state that shame is noted to be a motivator for persons who seek sex workers and persons who are involved with chemsex. This is untrue. This is only the case if the behaviour is ego syntonic/compulsive in the subjective experience of the individual; otherwise, enjoy! :)
In this short yet deeply personal episode, we embark on a candid journey through Michael's latest therapeutic explorations, focusing on the intricate relationship between kink, shame, and mental health. Michael bravely shares his evolving understanding of how deeply-rooted shame, stemming from childhood, has shaped his perceptions of intimacy, sexuality, and self-worth. With raw honesty, he discusses the challenging process of his shame—recognising the harmful belief that he is fundamentally flawed. As Michael delves into the complexities of his kink and sexual desires, he confronts the internalised stigma and the daunting task of reconciling his interests with societal norms.

In this episode of BDSM Reimagined, Michael speaks about his latest therapy session where he encounters his inner child. He talks about how he's been working on understanding the parts of him that make it tough to really connect or stay in the moment when things get sexual or intimate.
He also shares a curious similarity he noticed with a recent submissive he met, and how at times, it reminded him of the therapy work he's been doing.

In Part 1 of this episode, Michael explores the current conditions that are leading him to flirt with the idea, and at times enact, paying men for sex - in particular straight men.
He speaks about why it is straight men that activate him, the difficulty of finding someone into the same kinks, the burden he feels he puts on others for wanting what he desires, and also explores how he is shocked that people actually want to be sexual with him at all.
Originally released a week later, but now included as one, Part 2 explores a further dimension of this behaviour. Michael speaks about how a recent break up has lead him to have lower moods making him more inclined to do things he feels he would not normally do. He also speculates that the urge to pay men could be an indicator to his own needs not being met. The space he pays for is a place he could satisfy his needs without feeling guilt.

The philosopher Baruch Spinoza, in his Tractatus de Intellectus Emendatione, wrote: "For as far as sensual pleasure is concerned, the mind is so caught up in it, as if at peace in a [true] good, that it is quite prevented from thinking of anything else. But after the enjoyment of sensual pleasure is passed, the greatest sadness follows. If this does not completely engross, still it thoroughly confuses and dulls the mind." Arthur Schopenhauer, writing later on the phenomenon, observed that "directly after copulation the devil's laughter is heard."In this episode, Michael aims to further explore aspects of his sexual life, documenting areas that can become obstacles. Here, he shares his experiences living with Postcoital Dysphoria (PCD). While he has previously discussed this topic in earlier seasons (S1E5 Extras), he goes into more detail here.
Study:
One study (1) reported that among a sample of 1208 male participants, 40% of them had experienced PCT at least once in their lifetime and 20% reported experiencing PCT in the four weeks preceding the study. This study also reports that 3–4% of the sample experienced PCT symptoms on a regular basis.(1) Maczkowiack, Joel; Schweitzer, Robert D. (July 2018). "Postcoital Dysphoria: Prevalence and Correlates among Males" (PDF). Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy. 45 (2): 128–140. doi:10.1080/0092623X.2018.1488326. PMID 30040588. S2CID 51717755.
Reports are much higher for females.
