This week, we are joined by Jane W. Wang, a self-actualization coach for multicultural people, who helps us understand our cross-cultural identities better as third culture kids. Where do we belong? How do we navigate conflicting cultural values? Is there a "right" way to communicate? What is cultural intelligence?
Jane's website: janewwang.com
Jane confirmed that the intercultural communication frameworks she spoke of -- low-context vs high-context communication, and task vs relationship-based prioritization, were developed by anthropologist Edward T. Hall, one of the founding fathers of the intercultural communication field of study.

Q&Ahttp://www.depression.org.tw/knowledge/index.asp?/kd/8/1.html

Hey, it’s Summer. The topic of this episode is near and dear to my heart, and I wanted to thank you for clicking on it. About a month ago, I opened up to Charlotte about my struggles with body image and my relationship with food, and we started talking about how prevalent these issues are in society, especially in Asia. We originally wanted the episode to be about body image in a more general sense, but as I thought more about it, I realized I couldn’t talk about body image without talking about food. Thus, I share my eating disorder story candidly in hopes that if you can’t resonate with it, you can at least learn from it. Whether you yourself struggle with the way you look in the mirror, the way you feel around food, or the way you feel about exercise, know that you don’t have to feel ashamed, and I’m here for you. If we can’t all practice body positivity, because I know it can be hard, then let’s start with body neutrality. Practice gratitude for what your body can do for you, rather than what it looks like.
If you’d like to talk more about eating disorders, diet culture, and body image, please reach out on Facebook or Instagram. I’d love to continue the conversation there.
