Join Boozy and Alkali as we discuss how a long running feud of two founding fathers constantly trying to piss off the other one led to the concept of judicial review and the creation of a court that has daily reminded the American public they are essentially black-robed gods as we discuss the case of Marbury v. Madison live at Anthrocon 2024 in Pittsburgh!
HUGE shoutout this episode to Silvergatomon, who saved the day by providing us with a clean copy of the audio when Boozy's cheap mic that he refused to replace gave up in the middle of recording, and almost created a lost episode!Legal Funhouse Theme by Status Ferret. Check out his stuff here!

Join Boozy, the lawyer, and Alkali, the Certified Legal Layman, for a discussion of jurisdiction, civil procedure, and an exploration of the background of one of the seminal cases on the subject taught to every new lawyer.
In law school every fetal attorney learns the case of Pennoyer v. Neff to discuss the topic of the types of jurisdiction and how the courts gain power over the parties. But they don't teach you about the assumed names, land fraud, politics, and personal animosity that led to the background of the case. Boozy and Alkali are here to put that one right, in audio that shows Boozy hasn't yet figured out his new microphone yet.

Join Boozy and his Certified Legal Layman, Alkali, as Boozy uses an infuriating case of a city unwilling to pay for the damages it caused in the MOVE bombing and reneging on agreements to teach the important legal lesson - sometimes justice isn't what the courts produce.
In 1985 the City of Philadelphia dropped high explosives on a residential neighborhood, killing members of the MOVE organization and their children - as well as burning down pretty much the entire surrounding blocks. Almost two decades later, the residents of those blocks bring a lawsuit to try and force Philly to fulfill a promise to rebuild their neighborhood in a liveable condition. How does it turn out?As Alkali said: "Oooo, this is going to be an ANGRY one."
