Welcome to Interview One in the 6-part CEO Series Visionary Voices where I explore the CEO Mindset and path to success. Could a light hearted remark spark a wonderful career? You bet! This happened for Jeanne Johns. "If you don't get discovered by the time you're 30, your career is over." This comment was shared by her boss when Jeanne was only 22 or 23 years old. Jeanne thought "Well, that's the game, I'll need to find a way!" This light-hearted remark became a driving force for her to get noticed and make impactful changes.
In this interview I have the pleasure of speaking with Jeanne Johns, the former Managing Director and CEO of Incitec Pivot, as she shares her remarkable journey from the Midwest to leading a world-class industrial explosives and fertilizers organization. With a 30-year career at BP, Jeanne played a pivotal role in transforming BP's safety and operating risk culture following the Deepwater Horizon accident. So many great pieces of advice to soak up in this interview through Jeanne's journey. Enjoy tuning in.

Lisa Lynch, Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Womenās Hospital, shares her journey from clinician to executive leader. Lisa has a deep passion to redress the disadvantages and discrimination that affect women's access to high-quality health. Her deliberate and intentional focus is making a significant influence and deep impact. As a lifelong learner, Lisa delves into how "caring for the carer" has always been the guiding principle in her leadership, and how she forgot to put her own oxygen mask on as she led through the COVID-19 pandemic. Lisa is a delightfully self-aware leader who is deliberate about seeking feedback and has learnt to focus her energy on where she can make a difference. I am personally delighted to hear Lisa share her aspiration to be a CEO. We need more courageous and considered leaders like her. Lisa also discusses how she heard how our program played a supporting role in her putting her own oxygen mask back on.
