After passing out and being abandoned in a park, Amber Smith woke up face down on a floor, bound and gagged. When she attempted to fight back and scream, her attacker brutally assaulted her until she passed out again. The next time she regained consciousness, she was outside still naked, bound, gagged and blinded by duct tape wrapped around her head. Choosing to fight for her life, she screamed continuously for help. Fortunately, nearby residents heard her and called 911.
Despite having a clear dna profile, years went by with no further leads on who committed the atrocity against her. After Travis Alexander's body is found in his shower five days after he was brutally murdered, everyone was quick to point detectives in the direction of Jodi. Not concerned because she had an alibi, Jodi carried on as any heartbroken friend would and attended Travis' funeral.

When Bobby Joe Long's violence towards women escalates, he develops a pattern of picking them up or abducting them from "the strip" in Tampa. Many of them were involved in the sex industry but some of them were just unfortunate enough to live in it's proximity.
Though detectives connected a few of the cases early on, they had no leads as to who the perpetrator was and Bobby was picking up the pace. It was a grave error on his part to let Lisa McVey go. Her incredible ability to remain calm and remember details was his undoing.

After years of abuse, 17 year old Lisa McVey had believed her life would come to an end on November 3, 1984. She never thought that she instead would find the motivation and courage to survive an unimaginable attack that lasted over 24 hours. Shockingly, the perpetrator drove her back to her neighborhood and let her go.
Lisa would later find out just how lucky she was as the man who abducted and held her at gunpoint to assault and rape her was Bobby Joe Long. Previously known as the "Classified Ad Rapist", his violent crimes against women escalated to murder in 1984. Investigators believe he committed more than 50 rapes throughout the south Florida area through the early 1980's and murdered at least 9 women in the Tampa Bay area.

First responders found more than they bargained for when Jeff Lamb reported he arrived home to find his wife beaten to death. They also found Cathy's two dogs severely beaten but still alive.
Though the dogs were unable to save her life, they were able to provide detectives with clues as to who the killer was. One thing was for certain, it was not the burglary gone wrong that Jeff proposed it was.

After teacher/basketball coach, Jimmy McClain, missed two days of work and no one was able to reach him, a wellness check by police was executed. He was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. There was no sign of forced entry nor any signs that the home had been burglarized.

When 25 year old Corey Parker was found brutally stabbed in her Jacksonville Beach apartment, investigators immediately had their suspicions that she knew her killer. Unfortunately, determining the identity of the perpetrator wasn't so easy. Being a social butterfly with many friends and acquaintances made narrowing down the persons of interest a little more difficult. Karen Gregory had just taken the next big step to moved in with her boyfriend. While he was away on a business trip out of state, she was going to spend the time unpacking and settling in to their new home. When Karen failed to answer the phone or contact him for nearly two days, he began to worry and called friends, family and a friendly neighbor.
That neighbor was the first to discover Karen's body and call first responders, or was she? It was another neighbor, George Lewis, that investigators inevitably had to set their sights on despite not wanting to believe the fireman and neighborhood watch leader could be responsible. However, he insisted that all he was guilty of was panic and making a bad decision not to call authorities.
Join us as Savannah shares this story of a not so watchful neighborhood and learns what the Florida panhandle is while Elysia shares her deep fear of central Florida. Correction: Gulfport is, in fact, in the Tampa Bay area and not in the Florida panhandle. Geography is clearly not our strong suit.

Brandon Hutchinson's life had always been riddled with trouble, but when he moved to Missouri to get away from it all he found himself in deeper trouble than ever before. The addiction he had been trying to run away from only grew worse when he began working for his cousin's new husband, Freddie Lopez. It was lust at first sight when the successful Dentist, husband and father, Colin, met the younger wife and mother, Hazel, at their children's swim lessons. They quickly began an affair and were anything but discreet. Once caught by church elders, they agreed to end the relationship and attend counseling with their spouses. Despite using safety precautions when meeting a date from the ever popular app Tinder, Sydney Loofe was not prepared for what was to happen the night of November 15, 2017. Her date, Audrey, had spent some time gaining Sydney's trust and that night and convinced her to meet at her apartment. Unfortunately, Audrey was not who she claimed to be.
