  • In today’s episode, we’re diving into all the things we find ourselves doing as parents. From pretending to enjoy Sports Day (seriously, whose idea was it to have sack races?), to spending our hard-earned cash on the latest “must-have” toy (it's already broken), and of course, finishing the food our kids don’t – because who doesn’t love cold, half-eaten fish fingers?

We share the struggle of our sons having important events scheduled on the same day, being strong-armed into park trips on Fridays, and the soul-crushing sound of the Ice Cream van's jingle.

And then there’s the obligatory visit to the gift shop at museums and theme parks, where you’re forced to spend a small fortune on overpriced tat. It’s like they’ve weaponised keychains and rubber dinosaurs against us!

  • In this week's episode, Hayley attempts to reveal the top-secret tricks of the trade when it comes to selling! Sell what, you ask? Whether it's products, services, or even your soul to the caffeine gods, Hayley's got you covered. From branding and marketing, how you present yourself can only work in your favour—unless you're presenting yourself in pyjamas, but that's a different podcast.

Also on the pod, we recount our escapades at Louis' school fete, where Hayley was the undisputed queen of the Coconut Shy and got her hands on some very hairy nuts (cheeky!). Meanwhile, Louis continues his love affair with Eurovision 2024 and the Swedish act Marcus & Martinus, who, plot twist, are actually from Norway (scandalous!).

And if that wasn't enough, we wrap things up with a bizarre game where we morph into sales reps. Spoiler alert: Hayley hilariously tries and fails to sell James a pair of bread gloves! Yes, you read that right—bread gloves. Because who doesn't want to combine carbs and fashion?

Remember to like, subscribe, follow, and smash all the buttons to stay in the loop! Don't worry, no hairy nuts will be harmed in the process!

  • Louis (our 7-year-old) has been bringing back homework which we don’t know the answers to. Not only is this embarrassing for us, it also means we can’t help our child’s education! So we thought we’d bump up our IQs by taking an AI generated quiz for 10-year-olds.

We tackle english, maths, history, geography, science, and sex education in an endeavour to prove we’re not as dumb as we were 30 years ago! (Oh god, has it been 30 years?)

We also talk about some of the shenanigans we got up to at school, smoking, and (of course) swear words. Tune in to find out if we really are smarter than a 10-year-old. IQ? More like Ignorant Quiziots!

Business Marriage is the non-celebrity couple podcast that brings you the real and honest conversations that couples all over the world are having about life, family, work and everything in between. Entrepreneur husband and wife James and Hayley Burtt run their own separate businesses, so each week the pair take the opportunity to sit down and openly (sometimes too openly!) share what it is really like to juggle running a company, raising a family and (trying) to find time to keep your partner happy too! Expect arguments, laughs and even some useful lessons, plus listeners get to join in this interactive show by contributing their ‘partner battles’, 'share the love' mentions and even get to give date-night suggestions!

  • Well well, what do we have here?! First we find out James went and fired Hayley, even though she's his wife and co-host. And then, to really rub salt in the wound, he hires some fancy new designer to replace her immediately!

The mug of the week was awarded to poor Mark, who had quite the embarrassing car trouble story to share. Turns out all he needed to do was push the clutch, but it took him weeks of tinkering to figure out!

The small business shout out was for T-Rex Table (https://www.trextball.com), a baseball coaching service for kids run by a former Team GB coach. The boys have been having a ball at the sessions each week learning new skills in a fun, inclusive environment.

James recounted a chaotic weekend watching the kids, from multiple breakfasts to milkshake mishaps. Haley laughed at his parenting struggles after a relaxing spa trip.

  • We discuss the key considerations for couples working together: clear communication, respecting each other's expertise, and establishing boundaries. We talk about communicating roles, expectations, and resolving conflicts constructively whilst using individual interests and social activities outside of work to prevent burnout.

While our enthusiasm for our businesses brings us together, balancing work responsibilities and personal time is important. With mutual understanding and support of each other's passions, our relationship can thrive alongside successful collaboration.
