19 year old college student Miya Marcano booked a flight home to visit her family for the weekend in 2021. Miya never arrived and her family soon learned that she never even boarded her flight. In 2009, Peace Corps volunteer Kate Puzey was murdered after reporting the sexual assaults being committed by a teacher who had been hired by the Peace Corps. There were no protections for whistleblowers and Kate's report was shared with others which put her life in danger. Her family worked to get the Kate Puzey Act enacted to provide more protections for Peace Corps volunteers.

On Christmas Eve 1945, George and Jennie Sodder woke up to their home on fire. They were able to escape with 4 of their 9 children who were at home, but the others never made it out.
