In this inspiring episode of the Canine Culture Podcast, Brittany speaks with Paul, the founder of Flying Fur Animal Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing animals through both air and ground transport. What began as a personal hobby—learning to fly—quickly transformed into a life-changing mission to help save dogs and cats in need.
Paul shares his incredible journey, from becoming a certified pilot to purchasing an aircraft, and even building a ground transport vehicle. He opens up about the challenges and rewards of operating a rescue that moves animals across state lines to ensure they reach safety. With transparency and a commitment to the cause, Paul highlights the financial and emotional costs of running a nonprofit while offering a firsthand look at what it takes to keep animals safe and secure during transport.
In addition to his passion for flying, Paul discusses the importance of building a strong advisory board, fundraising, and staying connected with the community in the nonprofit world. If you're looking for inspiration, want to know more about the logistics behind animal rescue transport, or are simply curious about how a pilot turned his love for animals into a mission, this episode is for you.
About Flying Fur Animal Rescue:
Flying Fur Animal Rescue was founded in 2015. We are an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in south eastern Pennsylvania that was founded on the idea of helping desperate animals in need, in a unique fashion.
Annually, the founder spends over $10,000 a year, out-of-pocket, to help save more lives.
Every day, healthy, loving animals throughout this country are condemned to euthanization, simply because they cannot get to other areas where they would otherwise be adopted…we help to change those odds.
We operate along the east coast of the North America, where there is a large need for transport. Normally our rescue missions involve moving animals from kill shelters in the south to no-kill shelters in the northeast.
Through a network of animal rescue organizations and ground transport, we help to move animals from kill shelters to areas where they will be adopted, and given a second chance at life.
Usually we can help move animals from shelter to rescue within the same day.-------------------------------------------------

Selecting the most challenging cases to foster and rehabilitate created a need to understand canine behavior and obedience. She sought the kindest, most accomplished individuals in the field and studied religiously.
After working in the area’s most successful kennels, it was time to move to an independent format. She prides herself on continued education through practice, mentorships, and seminars.
Combining a love for teaching people and training dogs – Ryann works hard to share her skill set to better the communication and relationship between dog and handler.

This week, we're bringing back an unforgettable episode that dives deep into the transformative world of Paw Sha, an ancient-meets-modern wellness practice for dogs!
Join us as Dr. Tori, a holistic pet wellness expert, guides us through the fascinating art of Paw Sha. Based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine technique of Gua Sha, Paw Sha has been adapted to provide safe, gentle healing for our furry friends. Whether your dog suffers from chronic pain, arthritis, or just needs a little extra relaxation, this modality could be the wellness boost they deserve!
Learn how Paw Sha can be done at home, and hear Dr. Tori’s insights on how it’s changed the lives of her animal patients and her own pets. Perfect for any dog lover interested in exploring alternative health approaches for their pups!
About Paw Sha
Paw Sha is a modality you can use at home on your own dog to optimize their health! Paw Sha is based on Gua Sha massage, a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that relieves pain, decreases inflammation, and helps with lymphatic flow.
A Gua Sha tool is used as an extension of your hand to glide over your pet’s skin and fur to promote healing. Gua means “to scrape” and Sha means “disease or sand”, and when used on humans it is a firm scraping motion.
In our animal patients, a softer touch is used to create the effect we want. Paw Sha is used in treating animals with chronic pain, arthritis, mobility issues, post-surgery recovery, improverelaxation, and many other ailments.
Dr. Tori has used this technique on her own dogs, patients, and taught clients how to perform this technique at home with great success!

About Mold Dog Knows:
MOLD DOG KNOWS: TURNING ADVERSITY INTO ADVOCACY
My experiences with mold illness, coupled with my husband's professional insights, led us to establish Mold Dog Knows, a North Texas-based canine mold detection company. Our mission is to help others identify and address mold issues more swiftly and effectively, saving them the prolonged suffering I endured.
Our journey, though fraught with challenges, has equipped us to support and guide others through the maze of mold illness. It's a calling we embrace wholeheartedly, driven by a desire to turn our trials into triumphs for those we serve. And it's a perfect fit for our functional medicine practice, the Natural Healing Center where my husband helps many mold sick patients (who frequently have no idea).
In sharing my story, I hope to illuminate the path for others affected by mold, offering hope and practical solutions through the work of Mold Dog Knows and our continued advocacy for health and wellness in the face of environmental challenges.
