The apostle Paul writes this collection of letters to the church in Thessalonica, encouraging them for the way that they responded to the message of the gospel, despite the hostile culture they existed in. In this chapter, we see three ways that the gospel changes our lives: it changes our example, our devotion, and it gives us a confident hope in Jesus

On Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, the most important event in history! Pastor Jon reminds us in this message about the validity of the resurrection, the hope that we gain from it, and that we are not saved by anything that we can do, but it's all because of what Jesus has done.

Paul makes it very clear that, because of Jesus, there is a death that our old self is put to and there is a new life that we are raised to. However, do we find ourselves being obedient to that new life? Are we obedient to the fears and uncertainties that we can be confronted with? Pastor Jon reminds us that we have the ultimate assurance in this new life found in Christ, and that we are to be obedient to Him above all else

In Philippians 2, Paul gives a more detailed description of the mindset that Christ had during his life on earth, and how we are to have this same mind as He did. How does God's Word equip us to face these temptations to overcome, so that we can remain faithful to the One who has been faithful to us?

700 years before the birth of Jesus, Isaiah prophecies about this suffering servant, that would be struck down, beaten, despised, and rejected, for the sake of peace and healing for his people. Isaiah's words would eventually point to the way that King Jesus would suffer for our sins, how we would be pierced and crushed all to demonstrate His great love for us.

As we pass the halfway point in our Isaiah sermon series, we see a message of deep hope from Isaiah to the people of Judah, reminding them of God's enduring faithfulness that will never fade away. In these 11 verses, we see four strong themes: pardon, providence, promise, and peace. We are assured that, although we will all eventually fall and fade away, God's Word never will.

However, for those who were living in darkness and the fear of death, light was going to come, and this light is Jesus.
