Tragically, she, along with Dr. James ‘Eb’ Barnes and his wife Maggie Barnes, were murdered during a robbery. Despite the presence of a silent alarm and security footage, the perpetrator - or perpetrators- managed to escape, leaving the police and FBI with few clues. A red car captured on a nearby gas station's camera and an array of leads failed to resolve the case. Over time, various suspects came under scrutiny, but none were definitively linked to the crime.
