Facing a budget crunch, Gildersleeve is also faced with a household who all need money to spend on the upcoming Christmas holiday season. He has over extended himself in buying war bonds to do the patriotic thing,. Now the family each go on a quest to find resources to raise their own money to spend.
Marjorie is set on selling an iron deer to raise money, and her conversation with the junk man leads to an interesting exchange of words. At the same time, Birdie has designs on the deer, as does Leroy and Gildersleeve. Who will win the race to sell it for scrap money?
Mr Lewellyn, the man who sounds like Elmer Fudd, is still in town, and chats with Gildersleeve about his predicament. Can the man help Gildersleeve with some of his own bookkeepping woes? Will the multiple claims on the iron deer be cleared up? Who is getting the best deal for the disappearing deer?

The Beulah Show | Honorary Santa, Pts. 1-2 | December 24, 1953
Originally portrayed by a white male actor, Marlin Hurt, Beulah Brown first appeared in 1939 when Hurt introduced and played the character on the Hometown Incorporated radio series and in 1940 on NBC radio's Show Boat series. In 1943, Beulah moved over to That's Life and then became a supporting character on the popular Fibber McGee and Molly radio series in March 1944.
On July 2, 1945, Beulah was spun off into her own radio show on CBS, The Marlin Hurt and Beulah Show, sponsored by Tums. Hurt was still in the role of Beulah, and also played the voice of Beulah's boyfriend, Bill Jackson. Beulah was employed as a housekeeper and cook for the Henderson family: father Harry, mother Alice and son Donnie. Rounding out the cast was Oriole Winston, the housekeeper for the family next door to the Hendersons.
After Hurt died of a heart attack in 1946, he was replaced by another white actor, Bob Corley, and the series was retitled The Beulah Show, which ran on ABC as a sustaining program from February 24 to August 20, 1947.
When African-American actress Hattie McDaniel took over the role on November 24, 1947, with the program returning to CBS. She earned $1,000 a week for the first season, doubled the ratings of the original series and pleased the NAACP which was elated to see a historic first: a black woman as the star of a network radio program.
McDaniel continued in the role until she became ill in 1952 and was replaced by Lillian Randolph, who was in turn replaced for the 1953–54 radio season by her sister, Amanda Randolph.

The cast does a football skit called, "Hold That Line." Mary is out sick and does not appear. "The Blue Fairy Appears To Help Out," or "One Moment Please." The Jack Benny Program was first broadcast on the Blue Network on 2nd May 1932. With his capable cast of supporting players Benny made his show into one of great radio comedy shows. What was so special about this golden-age classic is Benny's ability to come across as a likeable guy despite being vain, argumentative, and a skinflint. People related to Benny and his willingness to often give the best comedy lines in the show to his supporting cast made him popular with listeners, guests and colleagues. This is classic comedy that is still funny sixty years later.
