  • Your biggest business growth secret? It may not be sales tactics—it's storytelling. Storytelling is a powerful tool for building emotional connections and creating lasting relationships with your audience. It’s how you show your authenticity, share your experiences, and invite others to connect with you on a deeper level.

In this episode, April Adams Pertuis, the founder of Lightbeamers, helps people and brands to help them tell their story in a more authentic way.

If you’ve ever wondered how to share your story or felt unsure about what parts of your journey to even talk about or highlight, this episode is for you. We’ll walk you through the process of finding and telling the right stories to connect with your ideal clients. By the end, you’ll feel inspired and ready to leverage storytelling in your business. Let’s get started!

0:03:22 - The most relatable stories are often the small, everyday moments, not the big, life-changing events.
0:06:04 - Understand your audience deeply to tell stories that resonate and create connection points.
0:09:16 - April explains how focusing on service rather than self helps overcome discomfort with visibility.
0:13:04 - Detaching from the outcome makes storytelling easier and more authentic in building relationships.
0:16:01 - April shares how storytelling helps articulate your brand, making it more relatable and visible to the right audience.
0:20:12 - Knowing your ideal client is key to determining which parts of your story to share and how to make it relevant.
0:23:45 - Consistent visibility and storytelling help build trust and relationships over time.
0:26:50 - Storytelling is a subtle but powerful soft skill, often overlooked in favor of technical marketing tactics.
0:30:55 - How April’s consistency in storytelling and visibility helped a client connect and work with her before they even spoke directly.
0:42:40 - It's not about using hacks, but owning your story and showing up authentically to attract your audience.

  • This case study is how my work as a copywriter helped 5x email revenue for a physical product brand
and even though that is so far from my niche of working with online service providers and coaches, many of the same principles apply. The big thing is that our values aligned, and that is what has made us a great team.

We first started working together in August 2023 and have seen incredible results, including:

In the first 4 months of working together we made more money through email marketing than the previous two years combined trying to do it on her own. On average, she made about 5x more per email once we started working together. This year’s email revenue 2024 has already surpassed last year’s, even though we still have all of Q4 remaining at the time of recording. (And we haven’t even gotten to Black Friday yet, which is statistically the highest revenue month).

And this all happened in less than 1 hour per month of her time. Let’s dive into how we did it.

    [4:44] The solution

  • Are you overthinking your copywriting, too? I know, I’ve been there. You’re staring at the screen, unsure how to make your words sound like you and make sales for you. The one tool I never expected to help me stop overthinking in my writing
is to use ChatGPT for copywriting.

  • Forget about creating more content—here’s why your sales strategy should start with these 5 essential emails. 📧

It's time to build genuine connections with your audience through thoughtfully crafted emails.

And if I can let you in on a little secret, it’s this:

The responses you get to your emails are so much more fun, honest and heartfelt and meaningful than the likes and comments you get on your social posts.

Because they’re not performing inbox to inbox, whereas comments are still public.

🙌 What if you never had to post to social media again?
🙌 What if the emails you send make you more money than a thousand social media posts?
🙌 What if connecting with people who care about what you have to share could be as easy as pressing send on an email?
🙌 What if marketing could feel easier?

Enrolling more new clients becomes so easier with an engaged email list. Make sure you have these 5 essential emails for increased sales going out to your email subscribers!

0:00:44 - Why social media can feel overwhelming and why email marketing is more effective for consistent sales.

  • Is the urgency and scarcity hype just manipulative marketing? We are diving into this debate with perspectives on both sides, specific examples, as well as bringing in the psychology and the hard data on when and whether it works. We are exploring if and how we can use urgency and scarcity without compromising integrity.

First, let me emphasize for clarity that this conversation is about honest urgency and scarcity. Obviously, if it’s false urgency or fake scarcity—that’s NOT okay. Ever. This is something that should go without saying, but I do want to acknowledge these tactics that we have all seen or experienced if you have been in the internet marketing space for any length of time.

This episode discusses the psychology and the data behind these tactics. We'll also explore whether and how they can be used with integrity. My goal is to provide you with the data, and both sides of the story, so that you can make an informed decision that feels good to YOU.

  • Clients not putting in the work to get results? You've got a bigger problem.

Vix Meldrew shared her State of Group Offers Survey, which revealed that a common reason for group programs not yielding results is that clients often don't put in the necessary work. They may struggle with accountability, lose motivation, get distracted, or face other priorities and circumstances....However, that is only part of the picture!

Through her experience and the survey data, Vix identified that the other major factor is the design and facilitation of the group programs themselves. This is the "results gap" — the disparity between the number of people enrolled in a program and those who actually do the work and achieve results.

So how can you design your program for maximum client results and satisfaction (turning them into raving fans)?

Tune in to hear the 5 must-have elements of a successful group program.

  • How do top brands create copy that captures attention and drives success? Traditional copywriting strategies are failing—and I interviewed 11 brand strategists about what you should be doing to create effective brand copywriting instead.

Consider this: you can’t attract $10,000 clients with $100 messaging. Changing your messaging signifies a step into a higher level of engagement and effectiveness. It’s about more than just capturing attention; it’s about changing old beliefs and prompting those “aha” moments that stick with your audience. Authenticity plays a pivotal role here. Genuine content, where your true self shines through, creates a connection that keeps people coming back—even if you’re not the funniest or most entertaining personality (you don’t have to be!).

I’ve got 8 effective brand copywriting examples to share with you today. We’ll analyze what makes these examples work and how to apply these strategies to your own copy.

And that is foundational brand strategy and brand identity work to confidently know who you are, what you stand for, and what you are here to do.
