Iâm celebrating that this is my 40th episode! For 40 weeks, Iâve shared stories and insights with you and have loved it. Thank you for being part of my journey and inviting me to be part of yours. So grateful! And, Iâve decided to pause the podcast for the summer.
In this episode, I reflect on the joys of the podcast and on lessons learned since its launch. I also share how while meditating, the word âsurrenderâ popped into my mind and how Iâve been exploring what does to surrender mean? How does one go about it? In asking, answers came in different and interesting ways.
During the summer, Iâm going to reassess, realign, redefine and continue to polish the concept behind Creative Permissions. So stay tuned!
I wish you a magical summer. And, as Iâm writing these notes, a song from my favorite Colombia singer, Fonseca, keeps popping in my mind so I leave you with it:
âSer feliz sale barato
Caminar sin zapatos
Salir con los amigos
Pasar un buen rato
Por eso beso lento
Y perdono rĂĄpido
El rencor soltandoâNot the exact translation, but my take is happiness is a choice. So, wishing you a summer filled with magic, great friends, and mucho love.

This week I experienced disappointment. In previous episodes, Iâve shared with you my focus on health and the various things Iâve changed to move forward on my health-related goals. Iâve changed my diet. I exercise almost daily. I meditate. And, Iâve had success such as healing from cancer, getting stronger, growing an inch, but one metric was pending.
Last week I got the results from my bone density test and these were not what I was hoping for. Since the previous test in 2024, Iâve continued to experience bone loss, which was so disappointing.
What do you do when you experience disappointment? In this episode, I reflect on the disappointment and how I may have fallen a little off the health wagon and back into old habits that are not aligned with my new identity.
Let me know what stood out for you and share your thoughts by leaving a review. I would also love to know how you deal with disappointment. What do you do to prioritize yourself? What does it mean to love yourself?

Takeaways:
Disappointment happens when oneâs expectations are not fulfilled. Itâs just a red flag in our journey that indicates an opportunity to âreshuffle the cardsâ and create new pathways and experiences. Prioritizing self is challenging for some women, but so necessary. By prioritizing ourselves, we are âputting the oxygen mask firstâ and then able to continue supporting all those we love. What does loving yourself mean? Itâs not a final destination, but a continuous journey.Connect with Patty:

Have you ever heard people talk about how they get messages from their loved ones that have passed? Or talk about how they were thinking about a person and suddenly that person calls? Or been looking for a lost object and then unexpectedly they get information about where this object is?
I love getting nudges from the Universe. It reminds me that in some way we are all connected.
In this episode Iâm excited to share with you an experience that surprisingly happened on my Motherâs birthday. My Mom passed away five years and I miss her dearly. If heaven only had cell service, but seems like it does, just in a different way.

During the summer of 2024, I made my Momâs dream come true. I visited Lourdes, France where Mother Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette in February 1858. My Mom had always wanted to visit Lourdes and so when I had the opportunity to go, I took it without any hesitation.
Lourdes is a very special and sacred place. People from all over the world visit for different reasons. Some are asking for miracles, some are giving thanks for the miracles received, some want to experience the Energy of the place.
In this episode, I share my experience when visiting Lourdes in June 2024 and how I facilitated a miracle for a friendâs relative. It reminded me of the importance of asking with an open heart and having the faith to carry on.
The fact that I found out about this miracle is another miracle in and of itself. My friendâs relative lives in a different country and we happen to connect only when she visits, maybe once a year. I had no idea of her miracle until she sought me out at an event and shared the amazing news. Perhaps you are facilitating miracles too.

How would you like to participate in a group that is setting healing and peace intentions?
In my last episode, I talked about not tolerating things and mentioned how I would sometimes avoid things because I thought there was nothing I could do. But in 2023, I was introduced to Lynne McTaggart and the Power of 8 circles.
Lynne McTaggart is a journalist that has worked with many prestigious scientists conducting experiments about the power of groups and mass intention. In her book, The Power of 8, she shares how she led a peace experiment focused on Sri Lanka and the results that came from that. And since then, I have wanted to start a Power of 8 circle and finally am.
My friend Grace Miller and I are starting a Power of 8 circle that will meet the last Wednesday of every month. We will be setting intentions and collectively as a group focus on the intention for the week.
Interested in participating? Send me a message and Iâll be happy to share the details. Our first Power of 8 is happening next Wednesday, April 30th. Obviously, space is limited, but if we have reached our target of 8, maybe itâs an opportunity for you to start your Power of 8 circle.
Excited about the possibilities and looking forward to sharing with you any insights we get from our Power of 8!

When a group gets together and focuses on an intention, there is an impact that happens, not only on the target, but on the group participants as well. If you have ever felt like there was nothing you could do to help a situation because it was happening on the other side of the world, because you donât have the resources, or whatever the reason, participating in a Power of 8 circle provides the opportunity to do something about it. I am very excited to introduce to you Reverend Frances Fayden! In previous episodes, Iâve mentioned how I met Frances and how with her support Iâve changed so much in my life.
In this episode, Frances shares her love for spirituality, how this led her to explore different faiths, and share what she has learned for the benefit of others. In 2012, Frances had a profound encounter with Mother Mary which changed her life. Since that date, Frances has been channeling and sharing messages from Mother Mary.
While I was undergoing chemo, I came across one of Francesâ podcasts where she mentioned helping people heal from whatever they were experiencing in their lives and find their life purpose. I immediately reached out to her. Since our initial session, Iâve recovered from cancer, launched my podcast and wrote a childrenâs book.
I love our conversation and the tips Frances shares so that you too can be open to connecting and relating to the Divine.

What is the difference between having a good life and a great life? Well, there are many reasons, but this past week I noticed that I was tolerating things. If you have a pebble in your shoe, it hurts and so immediately you take it out. But are there things that bother you just a little and so you tolerate them? I know I do.
In this episode, I realized that there are many little things that bother me, but not necessarily enough to look for better options. At work, I was doing something that bothered my boss and she didnât tolerate it. In fact, she asked me about the situation, helped me change it and it made my life so much better. Since then, Iâve been asking myself, am I tolerating this? Can it be any better?
And then magic happened! I was at an event and when I went to pay for parking, the system said I owed $45 for two hours. For a split second, I thought about paying for it because to fix it, I had to take the elevator, find the office, and relay my story. So, I was being lazy, but instead I decided not to tolerate it. I took the elevator, found the office, talked to the customer service rep, waited for a response and got free parking!
Questioning whether Iâm tolerating things encouraged me to start a Power of 8 Circle with my friend Grace. Will tell you more about it in the next episode, but Iâm excited for the possibilities!

Takeaways:
We all want a great life, are there any things in your life that you are tolerating and may be leading to good instead of great? When we experience pain or significant discomfort, we immediately do something to alleviate the pain, but frequently we may tolerate the little things that bother, but not enough to do something about it. Ask yourself if there is anything that you are tolerating. Is there anything that could be better? And if the answer is yes, do something to change and go from good to better to great. Itâs worth it!Connect with Patty:

The human body is amazing! Itâs an exquisite system that we donât really know how it all works and frequently, we take for granted.
I didnât really give my body much thought until I got sick. It just worked and I was grateful for that, but didnât really go the extra mile to take care of it. After finishing chemo and radiation for breast cancer, my bone density test results indicated that I had lost about 8% bone density and due to medications, Iâm at high risk of losing even more. My oncologist suggested another medication to help reduce the potential for more bone loss, but the side effects sound horrible, so I decided to try a different route.
For almost a year, I have been more focused on nutrition and exercise. On the nutrition side, Iâve been adding green smoothies from recipes from Chris Wark and Dr. Brooke Goldner. Every week my goal is to walk at least 9 miles and a few months ago, I signed up for sessions as OsteoStrong, a company dedicated to skeletal strength conditioning.
More recently, my husband gifted me sessions with Zach, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic personal trainer.
My next bone density test is at end of this month and I canât wait to see what the results are. In the meantime, my blood work shows that I no longer need to take calcium or vitamin D. I just found out that the strength of my grip in my hands increased about 20 points (I have a bit of neuropathy from chemo) and I grew an inch! At 55, I grew when the world keeps telling me that I am supposed to be shrinking.
In this episode, I reflect on the importance of taking care of our body, the amazing system that allows us to have the experience of being alive!

Have you ever judged someone else? Iâm not proud of it, but at a wedding I recently attended, I caught myself judging other people, more specifically, other women. I didnât like how that felt.
Then, I was able to see and hear how some of these women were looking in the mirror and negatively judging themselves. Why do we do this?
I quickly researched why do people judge others and many reasons came up. From insecurities to a need to feel superior to projecting our flaws onto someone else.
In this episode, I reflect on judgement and how when we judge others and ourselves, we are definitely not living our best life and not contributing to the lives of others. In my case, Iâm not following my motto of âleaving them better than I found them.â
I came up with an action plan to shift away from judgement. What do you do when you catch yourself judging others? Or looking in the mirror and seeing your wrinkles instead of your beauty? I really look forward to hearing about how you deal with judgement.

When we are in judgement of ourselves or others, we are not living our best life. When you catch yourself in a judging moment, train your brain to find one positive thing about the situation/person you were judging. Have compassion for yourself and others as. I love being in the magic! For me, magic and miracles are really closely connected and have nothing to do with magicians or magic tricks. Experiencing the magic, is when I am in the flow and all things just work out. Or, when something happens thatâs better than whatever I had in mind or could have imagined. It feels bigger than coincidences or happenstance.
Recently, I traveled to Guatemala and the trip was amazing! In this episode, Iâm excited to share with you my magical experiences, but Iâve always had magic in my life. However, something was different about this trip. It seemed like I experienced even more magic. What had I done to take it up a notch?
I hope my magical experiences catch your attention and you try it! There is more than one way to access the magic and be in the flow. What do you do to experience magic and miracles? I really look forward to hearing about your magical experiences!

Iâm often asked how I did it? How did I go from healing from cancer, to writing my childrenâs book, to starting a podcast? The answer to those questions has many levels, but an important component is that I gave myself permission to ask for help.
While I was undergoing chemo, I knew I needed help getting through it. I was surrounded by family and friends that loved me and wanted me to get better, and that was great, but not only what I needed. I needed to go within and find answers to questions that I had asked myself for years, but how to do that?
I followed the nudge in my heart to pray, but specifically to pray to Mother Mary. I guess I missed my Mom with me during these times and so I prayed to the Divine Mother and then was guided to Frances!
In this episode I share the back story of where I was, how I was introduced to Frances, and how that relationship has changed my life. I think we all need a Frances in our lives and so I have invited her to be on the podcast and she said âYesâ! So next episode, I am honored to present to you Reverend Frances Fayden and how she has dedicated her life to be a light for others.

Help, support and love are always available to us, all we need to do is ask. Itâs necessary and important to have mentors that will help us with whatever we are asking, such as finding purpose, unveiling our talents, being a safe space. Iâm excited to celebrate with you my six month anniversary! Six months ago, I gave myself permission to launch my podcast and every week since then have showed up. Six months ago, I also invited you to âget up off the wallâ and get going on whatever projects you were interested in. Have you? I would love to know.
Like with any project, I set milestones and then take the time to assess progress. I question whether I am reaching my goals, still aligned with purpose, and what has been my contribution.
In reflecting, I realized that in order to show up every week, I had to put myself first and that is not an easy concept for me. There is always so much to take care of between family and work, that itâs easy to put my âstuffâ on the back burner.
I have experienced the contrast of leaving my things for later and now making sure that I donât leave my heartâs desires for another time. I have created space and boundaries and then the magic happens. Have you had magic happen?
I hope you celebrate wherever you are on the path to putting yourself first.

This week Iâm excited to introduce Sunshine! Iâve known Sunshine for many years, love her story and am honored to share her inspiring story.
Sunshine grew up in a small town in the Midwest. When she was ready, she packed her bags and drove off to the West Coast in a car that would not go in reverse. She took that as a sign and since then has always kept moving forward.
She started her new life on the West Coast, fell in love, and had a baby. In this episode, Sunshine shares her experience of having a baby over 50 years ago while being single. Her secret was well kept. Only the father knew about the baby, until she received a phone call that changed her life.

This past week, I got sick. I delayed recording my podcast until my voice sounded better, my nose didnât look like Rudolphâs, and I looked like I had more energy. It made me wonder how many times I have postponed anything until all conditions were better? Not this time!
I realized I had a choice: Either not having an episode air this week or giving myself permission to not be perfect? Well, the answer is obvious.
Not feeling well also made me change the topic I had selected for this weekâs episode. The inconvenience then was that I had nothing else prepared. But the âUniverseâ always takes care of me, so I just asked Mother Mary and todayâs topic developed because of a dream.

Do you ever acknowledge and celebrate the good in people? It is all around, but sometimes I get distracted by the news and the hurt in the world and fail to remember that there is always good. And sometimes, I get those reminders.
This past week, I was watching a show with my kids when someone rang the doorbell. I opened the door to find a man that I didnât know, but he knew my husband. He asked if this was Raulâs home, which made me suspicious. I think the man noticed my surprise and proceeded to give me really good news.
He had found Raulâs wallet and since there was no phone number, he drove to the house to return it! I was speechless. At the end of our conversation, I thanked him and told him he was reminding me that there always good around us.
Raul lost his wallet three times and has always gotten it back. My daughter lost her wallet once and then got a package in the mail with it. These are four occasions where members of my family lost an item and by the goodness in people, got them back.
Have you ever lost something and then someone brought it back to you? Have you ever said, âoh that never happens to me, they are just so lucky.â In this episode, I celebrate the good in people and also reflect on why donât we all experience âthe goodâ at all times.

I am visiting Colombia, where my family is originally from. The purpose of the trip is to support my Dad, but as soon as I know I am traveling, the planning begins. Remember we talked about goals and intentions? For every trip, I start with a vision, then define intentions, and then take action to make the magic happen.
When I visit Colombia, I plan for work, the things I want to get done for Dad, to see family and get together with my BFFs from college.
Getting together with some family members was challenging. I understand everyone is so busy, but this made me start wondering if my ties to the country and people I love were fading? What if I was being forgotten in âreal life?â I know it sounds dramatic, but that is not my intention, instead it lead to the opportunity to reflect.
In this episode I reflect on the question, âIf I knew I was going to be forgotten, is there anything that I would do differently?â Is there anything that you would do differently?
Join me as I share the treasures I discovered on my trip and what insights I am getting from my reflections. I would love to know what you think about this question and what your answers are! Looking forward to your comments on FB or email me at [email protected].

Magic is real! But only for those that choose it to be so.
I was introduced to magical realism as a literary genre in high school with the novel â100 Years of Solitude,â and loved it. The possibility of experiencing magic in our everyday life has always been captivating.
Do you experience magic in your life? I know I do. I think all of us can experience magic, but sometimes what we define as magic may be limiting or we just donât think itâs possible.
In this episode, I am excited to share with you the magic that I experience and invite you to join me in creating your own magic embedded in whatever your reality is. It is so much fun!
Looking forward to your magical comments and how much fun you are having!
