Major milestones were accomplished in the '80s, including the operation of the Royer-Nesbit Water Treatment Plant and the completion of the Lloyd W. Michael Water Treatment Plant in 1989. For the first time ever, CCWD enhanced its connection to the State Water Project and expanded its water supply portfolio to include imported water from northern California.

The '70s. A flashback to the grooviest decade and a time of modernization of the tunnel system in the canyons. Great milestones accomplished, yes! The construction of CVWD's first water treatment plant facility, the Royer-Nesbit Water Treatment Plant, paved the way to ensure the treatment of our precious canyon water and imported water from northern California.

The '50s. A time when citrus orchards and grapevines weren't the only things flourishing in the Cucamonga Valley. Population growth, drought challenges, and a need for water system improvements led to the incorporation of the Cucamonga County Water District in 1955. A major step in the right direction to meet the needs and water demands of local ranchers and the residents of the Cucamonga Valley.

The District’s roots in this community go much deeper than our official incorporation in 1955. The area CVWD serves would not be thriving without the water source that was available to early settlers. So take a splash into the late 1700s-1950 to learn all about the early settlers in the Cucamonga Valley and the early water system that helped this region thrive!
