Dale G. Renlund was named to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015. Elder Renlund had served as a General Authority Seventy since April 2009, prior to being named to the Quorum of the Twelve. He previously served in the presidency of the Africa Southeast Area.
