In 1998, UFO Magazine published a strange three-part series written by an apparent pseudonymous author named Greg Halifax. The articles followed a character called Sedge Masters, an intelligence operative recruited into a deeply classified UFO crash-retrieval program known as Zodiac.Across the series, Masters is briefed on alleged recovered craft, non-human bodies, reverse-engineering efforts and a specialized military recovery team whose members return from a mission with ninety minutes of missing time. However, their significance changed after a leaked 1999 email revealed that physicist Hal Puthoff believed the stories may have been only slightly fictionalized versions of a real source’s experiences preparing records for the archives at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.Whether the Sedge Masters story is fiction, a composite of genuine intelligence accounts, or something deliberately placed between the two remains unknown.
