  • Today I have two incredible guests joining me—Angelica, the original co-host, and Katerina, a dear friend I connected with deeply on our last trip to Peru.

Our conversation today is inspired by my own experience of Waltaska, a powerful postpartum ceremony rooted in Andean traditions.

This ceremony not only supports the healing of the mother but also welcomes home her soul.

We delve into the history, preparation, and journey to explore its deeper meanings and discuss how we can adapt these practices to better serve the unique needs of mothers.

  • Danielle warmly welcomes Nina as a guest host to hold space for her own birth story.

Leaving her home in France after a surprising pregnancy with her partner of just six months, Danielle embarked on a transformative journey to Costa Rica for a home birth.

Despite her initial reservations about home birth, Danielle, who was holistically trained, had an awakening after watching the documentary "The Business of Being Born" with Ricki Lake. This pivotal moment led her to delve into the world of home birth and undisturbed childbirth.

As Danielle recounts her experience, she opens up about the challenges she faced during her 28-hour labor without the presence of a midwife or doula. Overwhelmed by fear, she ultimately sought medical support.

She goes on to share the trauma she endured during the birth, including the intrusive hands of doctors, the loss of control and voice in the birthing room, and the heart-wrenching separation from her partner.

In Danielle's postpartum journey, she shares of the loneliness she felt without a supportive tribe. The lack of connection during this vulnerable period prompted Danielle to create this podcast, as she realized the importance of sharing stories, creating awareness, and building a community for those navigating the complexities of childbirth and postpartum.

Join Danielle and Nina in this emotionally charged episode as they explore the highs, lows, and transformative moments that shaped Danielle's journey from fear to empowerment.

Imagine this: at 38 weeks pregnant, Julia went into labor while living in her off-grid RV. With her partner by her side, she embarked on a journey to bring their son, Bruce Lee, into the world. Cozy in the forested mountains of Montana, far from the conventional hospital setup, Julia embraced an undisturbed childbirth.
