I'm back with another episode of #InsideTheTrack. Tap in as we catch up with Steven Thad and capture the story, meaning, and details of the making for his new release, "Smile."
About Steven Thad:
Steven Thad, born Stephen Leslie, Jr., has always been a musical individual. As a kid growing up in the DMV area, he and his sisters, Sierra and Shanté, developed their love for music while accompanying their parents to many choir rehearsals. As a result of their musical upbringing and the support of their dedicated parents, he and his sisters were able to garner success as the Billboard-charting gospel group, Trilogy.
Thadâs solo musical journey began when he left for college in 2014. There he started to develop his own musical identity for the first time. In 2018 he began to shadow Grammy-nominated producer Dana SorĂ©y which helped him gain the confidence to start making his own beats, perfect his sound and release his own albums and EPs of cover tunes. In October 2022 he released his first album with his own original music entitled, âLove R&Bâ which showcased his love for the genre with tracks like âRNBâ, âDo You Rememberâ and âGoodbye, Farewellâ. With the help of SorĂ©y, he released âLove, R&B: Deluxeâ that elevated each song to an even higher dimension of musicality.
As Steven Thad continues to evolve and create, all signs are showing that this is just the beginning of an illustrious career for the rising star!

With all that has played out in the media relating to Dr. Claudine Gay, we have to recognize that there is ALWAYS more to the story...
In case you missed the headlines, "Claudine Gay is an American political scientist and academic administrator who was the 30th president of Harvard University and is the Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and of African and African-American Studies at Harvard." (source -Wikipedia) whose resignation from the role as President at Harvard played out before our eyes I had to place a call to try and gather the reality of how this could happen.
The call was placed to Poor Culture Founder and Holy Queer Author, Rev. Karmen Michael Smith as I was perplexed by the portrayal of the story, I had to phone a friend! Going beyond the general scope of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Karmen helps me to understand the reality that what we see is a larger effort against diversity in traditional spaces. One of the most common phrases said in a black home for my generation was âWhat Happens in My House, Stays in My House!â It is a tactic that was used to ensure the family secrets stayed within the confines of the home. Furthermore, itâs one of the phases that also kept us from being able to HEAL!
With the recent outpour of family tension between #RomeoMIller and #MasterP playing out in front of the world on social media, I thought thereâs no better time than NOW to start the conversation of Breaking the Generational Course and starting the path to Healing on Purpose. Understanding the need for such a conversation, I tapped into Toya T. as she is one who not only understands the saying but has realized the weight it carried as she raised her children; along with the approach she is taking to ensure it doesnât impact her grandchildren. Also, going a step further, I called Yleis Engerman, MS, LADCI, LMHC, and Private Practice Owner of My Self Oath Inc. I am so excited to give you the rundown. Last month I told you all we had to go to the Home Depot Backyard Night Market: Holiday Edition on December 1st and I am so glad we went. If you went, you have to let me know how much you enjoyed it as it was a wonderful experience.
The event took place on World AIDS Day and was a great evening event to end such a positive filled day. Upon pulling up to the backyard area you were instantly entertained by the sounds of upbeat music and a high-energy emcee. Immediately you are ready to engage in all that is going on behind the gate. You walk up to the check-in area and you are greeted with Holiday Cheer and smiling faces.
