J U S T • E T I E N N E [@just-etienne, Magdeburg | GER] is a DJ and club owner with over 26 years in the game, has carved a niche in the electronic music scene with his deep affinity for house music. His journey began amidst the trance and techno wave of the late '90s, quickly transitioning to HOUSE music, where he found his true passion. Beyond that, he ventures into the eclectic with his "Funmix" series on SoundCloud, blending genres from trap to drum 'n' bass, showcasing his versatility and innovative spirit.
With his subtle presence, he communicates his love for music through carefully curated sets and a sneaky smirk once in a while. He challenges the monotony of single-genre sets with his signature style of dynamic transitions and diverse sounds. He creates moments of unexpected joy to keep the dance floor alive and unpredictable.
With the opening of the Kunstkantine in 2001, he introducing a varied music palette to Magdeburg's then hip-hop and R'n'B-dominated nightlife.
Just Etienne operates his club, Kunstkantine & Datsche, with immense passion and dedication, investing his whole life into creating a space that embodies the essence of musical and cultural diversity. "This Must Be the Place" welcomes you at the entrance and it perfectly encapsulates the paradise he strives to offer— a haven where everyone feels welcome and at home.

Something between House, Planet Rock, Ambient Electronica and Indie Dance etc. It was founded by the two producers Workshop (@workshopformusic & 1/2 of @i_double_you) and Tino Kulisch (1/2 of HERON, on @O-RS) in 2022. They are part of the label RiotVan (@riotvan-family) and were already pushed by the amazing Ed Banger.
They are mostly known for their intriguing and capturing LIVE sets but for us they have recorded an exclusive DJ mix!

G R Ä F I N • Z O B E L (engl.: Countess Zobel) [@graefin_zobel | GER] is a Brandenburger power woman, part time Berlin b and DJ. Infatuated with the timeless allure of old soul and jazz music, she transitioned from being a vinyl collector to a skillful DJ during the pandemic. Her sets weave together a tapestry of diverse old-school tunes plucked from her extensive vinyl collection.
When the clubs in Berlin opened again, she was happy to play her first gig at the reopening of MenschMeier. Since then dancers and dreamers in clubs and at festivals like Moyn & Bucht der Träumer* enjoy her afterhour jazzy soul sets, freaky funk und dancy disco sets.

Since early 2023, PurpleSol has been actively involved with 'Spektralwelt,' a collective that focuses on creative light design. For the last podcast in 2023 we have chosen B A B X I [@babxi, Berlin | GER] – she shares her unique repertoire, a 'Dreamcatcher of House and Disco' at some of Berlin’s biggest clubs: Sisyphos, KaterBlau, KitKatClub, Renate and Ritter Butzke, to name a few. And she also just got back from a Thailand tour!
Her sound is an indulgent mix of high-energy, often nostalgic groove for free spirits and old souls: think feel-good female vocals and cheeky mementos from golden times, always inspired by her boogie angel, her Dad (and his permed hair and platform shoes back then!).
Raised on the Canadian prairies with Filipino, Scottish and Irish roots, she moved to Berlin in 2013. In 2023, she became a resident of the house and disco collective Diskolusion (@diskolusion).

F R A N K A [@franka_ogs, Berlin | GER] is a queer German DJ currently based in Berlin. She usually plays a juicy mix of House and Disco and played this year mostly in Berlin, some more known venues are Sisyphos Wintergarten or Kater Blau. She’s part of her hometown collective @ogeso and the newest member of @unseenberlin, which is a FLINTA orientated collective which regularly hosts parties and workshops in Berlin. Back in 2020 she was taught how to play vinyls in an old DDR Banana bunker in her hometown deep down in the countryside of Mecklenburg and hasn’t stopped ever since. Her passion for vinyls grew and she loves discovering new record stores all around the world.

Not knowing why, M I C H A E L • E L L I S [@ellis |Freiburg, GER] started playing his records to friends and strangers. Some seemed to like it, so he continued playing records to them. Out of these shenanigans, various club nights, hangovers, ringing ears and interestingly enough, more invitations to play records to other people have sprung. It is ridiculous.
Let’s cut to the chase: Inspired by whatever happened on dance floors in the late 70s until today, Michael Ellis built up a record collection and hosted events just to make some use of that collection. Important to note: Michael has NOT set foot on the aforementioned dance floors of the 70s, as he was born in the 90s when nobody seemed to care about Disco anymore. But from what he read and heard first hand, it must have been quite a scene. Thank God the records of those decades, especially original U.S. Disco, Italian oddities and New York City's Vocal House stompers with a splash of Gospel can still be purchased at affordable prices, until Michael runs out of space.
Today in Freiburg, he roams the sonic spheres by hosting „Ready or Not“, Roller Discos, House Dance Jams and recently „Brighter Days“, the latter bringing together international acts and local talent of everything Disco, House and Techno.

Emil aka H A R R Y • H A N C O C K [@harryhancock | Berlin, GER] has a record collection that explores the more delicate sides of dance (and not so dance) music. His sets are usually based on House, but may contain traces of balearic disco bliss, jazzed out pianos, psychedelic guitar solos or trippy proggy deepness, depending on the occasion. With a sensitivity for narrative and collective vibing, Emil helped to shape the Disco and House sounds of Dresden, where he co-founded the infamous Palais Palett e.V. crew and open-air part of one of Dresden’s bigges clubs objekt klein a. He’s now based in Berlin, where this classic 90s House themed vinyl only mix was recorded.

A N S O N I C A [@ansonicamusic | BERLIN, GER] an Italian DJ based in Berlin. Thanks to the influence of her mother, she literally grew up with spaghetti and Italo disco. She spent years in the Italian club scene, as DJ Host and PR at Ribbon Club Culture in Central Italy, before moving to Berlin in 2015. ANSONICA mixes Hi-NRG disco with house and electronic vibes to create her own authentic music style with a little Italian spice. She plays regularly at Berlin clubs like Kitkat, Bulbul, and Oxi, among others, and is a member of the diverse network female:pressure. ANSONICA launched her own party series called "Cosmic Circuit," promoting musical and social inclusivity with other FLINTA artists.
Her mission is making Disco glamorous and exciting again and bring the dancers on a fresh, sweaty and fun journey. Way to go!

W I L L E M [@wilem_wir | DD, GER] – always with a grin and a witty remark, Willem sets himself up at the decks. Growing up in the northern flatlands, the constant sound of 80s, 90s, and 2000s hits in his mom's car sparked an unexpected fascination with electronic music that never faded. He is part of the crew named "Wild in der Region e.V." and not only does he mix in the DJ booth, but he also helps set up various festivals including the Uckeralm, Oewerall, and Letzte Wiese Festivals. His library is as colorful as an ice cream truck on LSD, with styles ranging from lo-fi house to house, disco, indie-dance, and techno. He always keeps at least one ear on the crowd. Based in Dresden since 2012, he can be found at various club and party events.

S H I M A N S K I [@shimanski030 | Berlin, GER] grew up in Berlin, was shaped by her dancing mother and her bass-intensive dad (famous DDR musician). Naturally, music means EVERYTHING to her. Shimanski originally started with techno music in 2012. Today she enchants the dance crowd with disco music mixed with electronic elements, a lot of Italo disco, dark disco, indie dance and nu wave.
Since 2020 Shimanski has been a resident DJ of the @discobizarre crew, which is famous for their legendary shows every Saturday at KitKatClub Berlin. Since 2022 Shimanski has the chance to host one Saturday per month at the lovely basement of KitKatClub, where she invites many great artists from around the globe.

Born in Uckermark he is an active part of the Wild in der Region e.V. – an association devoted to the party and festival culture in North-East Germany. In the past years they have built stages and dance floors for UCKER ALM FESTIVAL, OEWERALL FESTIVAL, LETZTE WIESE and MIT DIR FESTIVAL.
It all started with a podcast for us … then we didn’t want to be without him! 🥰
So since 2018 he is with DISCOnnect as DJ, feel-good manager, technician, organizer, treasure, artist care and secco opener extraordinaire. Usually he likes being in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly – so humble! AND on top he is also a damn talented DJ and a good judge of music and character.

𝕯𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖊𝖑 𝕳𝖆𝖚𝖘𝖊𝖗 (@aroma-plus, Jena) found his first big love – electronic dance music – in 2002 and has remained faithful to her to this day. At that time, disco and house formed the foundation of his record collection and were therefore the first tonal experiences that would become part of his personal musical signature: a sound that today is comprised of house and techno – energetically driving, melodic, and dirty all at the same time. ✨🌪️🍾 -

S T R A C C I A S T E L L A [@Stracciastella_dd | Dresden, GER] is actually just Stella and originally not from Italy. Like a fresh ice-cream cone out of the freezer, she is still in the early stages of her DJ career. Because of the pandemic and the lack of parties she simply had to learn how to DJ herself so her friends from Schöner Tag Kollektiv wouldn’t forget how to move freely and dance wildly with 2 or 12 beauty secco in their system. Who wants some good mood to go? Have a sundae full of disco, funk and house beats! 🍦🌞🪩
