Our very own Joy Piedmont got to speak to none other than the most recent showrunner of Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall! Please enjoy this intimate conversation about his entire regime, his writing process, and some insight into some of the decisions he made.

And we've come to the end of Five Years Rapid, which is what we'll call season 1 of a Doctor Who podcast from Kyle and Joy. (More on that later.) In this final FYR, we give you our top 5 and bottom 3 stories, our Senior Superlatives, and try to summarize the Third Doctor era as succinctly as possible. As you can see, it's our longest ever episode.
For those interested, here are our full individual story ranking.

It's the end...but the moment has been prepared for. Wait, no, that's a different final story. We did it! We have come to the end of the five year that have indeed been rapid. Joy and Kyle discuss "Planet of the Spiders," a beloved story that has a lot to recommend it...and a lot of not great stuff too. Like, more that people like to remember. Let's get in to it! A tear, Sarah Jane?
-
For our penultimate Pertwee story, we look at *checks notes* wait, is this right? "The Monster of Peladon?" Well, I guess if we have to.
-
Third to last story for the Third Doctor and it's the third of his Dalek stories. Ermahgerd, Derlerks.
-
Our final Malcolm Hulke story is an oft-maligned but undeservedly so. "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" has intrigue, politics, weird sci-fi ideals, Sarah Jane being absolutely awesome, a dramatic turn for Mike Yates, and the Doctor's best jacket. Yes, and some cruddy looking dinosaur puppets too. What're you gonna do?
-
It's the beginning of the end. Sad face. Our journey through the Third Doctor's reign begins its inevitable march toward the finish. But at least we have a really fun one to talk about --- "The Time Warrior!" Written by Robert Holmes, this story introduces the Sontarans, the word Gallifrey, and most importantly, brand new companion, the amazing Sarah Jane Smith!
-
We finish up another season of the Third Doctor with a beloved classic, "The Green Death." And who better to join us for a discussion into Jo Grant's final story than returning champion Sage Young?! We get into maggots, miners, and meet-cutes in this truly legendary Doctor Who story.
-
This month...well, it is. Kyle and Joy talk about "Planet of the Daleks," the also-ran of season 10. It's pretty boring, AND it has bad gender politics. But at least Pertwee and Manning have good costumes.
-
It's the new year! Finally, 2020 is no more, and Kyle and Joy have a great story to discuss for you all. It's "Frontier in Space," the beginning of a would-be Dalek epic, but...not. They discuss the political nature of the story, the Draconian culture, and say farewell to Roger Delgado's Master.
-
It's the end of 2020! Finally! And ain't it great that Joy and Kyle get to talk about a good story to send it off? It's "Carnival of Monsters," which both hosts enjoy but don't think about very often. Why is that?
-
This month, Kyle and Joy begin season 10 and with it an anniversary story! "The Three Doctors" gives us the return of Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor and William Hartnell's First Doctor--kind of. We discuss the ways in which the various characters come across, and the truly irritating way the Brigadier is presented. And we answer the question: can a story be great without being good?
-
Well, we were always heading here. It's just our luck it fell in October. Yes, Kyle and Joy this month finish off Season 9 with *GULP* "The Time Monster," which is...well, it's something.
-
This month, Joy and Kyle tackle the oft-derided, fiercely underrated story "The Mutants," which has, ohhh a fair few things to talk about in it.
-
This month finds Joy and Kyle lost at sea! Well, not "lost" exactly, but definitely adrift in the action-heavy story "The Sea Devils," which finds the Master in a prison castle, the Navy in full force, and the Doctor trying to talk to the Silurians' less interesting cousins. We've got sword fights, hovercrafts, and land mines, but do we have any real story to speak of? And is that a bad thing?
-
This month we finally get some class up in this joint! The Doctor and Jo visit an alien kingdom under threat and a Galactic Federation on the brink. It's the surprisingly excellent "The Curse of Peladon," which lets Jo take charge and flirt with a guy closer to her own age for once.
-
Hi everyone! Kyle and Joy break off another season of Jon Pertwee goodness with "Day of the Daleks"! And we're not alone. Joining us in this go-round is our good friend Sage Young from Head Over Feels. It's a grand old time!

This month (from quarantine, of course) Joy and Kyle discuss the final story of season 8, "The Daemons." Here we have the first of the stories written by Robert Sloman and Barry Letts (under the name Guy Leopold) and it's a supremely odd mixture of sci-fi and the occult. Plus, we get Reverend Magister, so that's fun too. Satanism, white witches, folk horror, and Quatermass pastiches abound! But, is it, like, good?
-
This month Joy and Kyle were in the same room! Granted it was at Gallifrey One back in February, but still. And they celebrate by talking about Colony in Space, the penultimate story from the Third Doctor's second season. It's not the most fondly remembered story, but maybe it should be? It's got more going on than you probably thought.
-
This month, Kyle and Joy climb out of the pigbin to dive into a gaping mouth of an alien dendrite to talk about "The Claws of Axos"! What's not to like about this Doctor Who story? It's got aliens in both trashbags and leotards, bureaucracy run amok, and the coolest not-cool character ever, Bill Filer!
