Here's another masterful inker who eventually transcended those bold black lines to become a penciller and creator in his own right! We're talking about Art Thibert, who broke into the big time inking Dan Jurgens on Adventures of Superman in the early 90s. Big X-related gigs followed at Marvel before moving over to Image to take on cornerstone books like Spawn, Supreme, and Brigade. Back at Marvel and X-Men in the later 90s, Art took on X-Factor, Uncanny X-Men, Bishop, and Ultimate X-Men, and then Fantastic Four and the groundbreaking Ultimate Spider-Man (over Mark Bagley's pencils). He's revived two creator owned projects in recent years, including Black and White and Chrono Mechanics.

You can follow Art on all the socials: @ArtThibert. And check out his new Indigogo sketchbook campaign Oodles of Doodles, which launches in June 2024: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/oodles-of-doodles-and-other-stuff-too.

An art dealer turned editor, Scott Dunbier has made an amazing career for himself in comics. Personally invited to join and then lead Wildstorm by founder Jim Lee, Scott oversaw the Cliffhanger line and Alan Moore's Americas Best Comics, editing Promethea, Tom Strong, Top 10, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, among others. He also created the Absolute line of prestige hardcovers after Wildstorm merged with DC. Later, after moving to IDW Publishing, Scott introduced the award-winning and beloved line of hardcover Artist's Edition reprint books. He's also edited large benefit books, the most recent of which, Comics for Ukraine, won him the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award and several Eisner Award nominations.

Now, Scott's striking out on his own, having announced his intention to form a new publishing company. You can follow all his goings-on from social media: @sdunbier.

Much like Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man, Chuck Austen can just about do it all. He's been a writer, artist, creator, animator, and producer over his roughly 40 years in entertainment. But Chuck started as a comics artist, starting at Eclipse and had a short stint on Alan Moore's formative Miracleman series. He subsequently did more mostly indie work before taking a comics hiatus to work on King of the Hill. Roaring back with Marvel Knights, he illustrated the initial run on the new Elektra series and then wrote and illustrated U.S. War Machine, which was controversial for its violence and politics. He transitioned to mostly a writer from there, taking on Uncanny X-Men, Captain America, The Avengers and more at Marvel, and then Superman: Metropolis and Action Comics for DC.

After creating comics of his own (like Edgeworld and Flywires), Chuck is mostly back in animation now, producing shows like Dragons: The Nine Realms and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. You can follow him at his website: chuckleausten.com.

An artist of the highest caliber, Zander Cannon broke into comics on The Tick spinoff, The Chainsaw Vigilante, and never looked back! He struck out on his own with The Replacement God series, then teamed up with Alan Moore and Gene Ha for Top 10, under Moore's America's Best Comics imprint. After the Top 10 spinoff Smax, Zander started a long-time partnership with Kevin Cannon (no relation) on creative and commercial endeavors. Then there was his own graphic novel Heck, followed by his hugely successful series Kaijumax! Sounds like he has a bright future in this industry.

This year's edition takes place April 27 - 28 at Ithaca College, and Ed couldn't be happier to welcome you to this unique con that he manages along with students from Ithaca College's School or Business. As a branding and advertising executive, Ed’s career has evolved to include a focus on entertainment marketing, specifically with conventions. Another editorial powerhouse, Bob Schreck has been all over the comics industry for the better part of five decades! He started out organizing and running conventions for Creation Entertainment in the mid 70s, then worked in marketing for Marvel before taking the reins at Comico (with then-wife and past guest Diana Schutz as EIC). From there, it was on to Dark Horse, where Bob expanded from his marketing role into editorial, overseeing such titles as Frank Miller's Sin City, Art Adam's Monkeyman and O'Brien, and the influential anthology Dark Horse Presents. Soon after his Dark Horse stint, he co-founded Oni Press, where among other projects, brought filmmaker Kevin Smith into the comics world. Then it was on to DC, where Bob oversaw huge Batman storylines like Hush, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, and Batman: Year 100, as well as Green Lantern, Green Arrow, All-Star Superman, and Sweet Tooth (Vertigo). And he still wasn't done, working for IDW and Legendary Comics after that. But jeez, we've got to end this intro!

You can follow Bob on Facebook.

If you know Daredevil, you should know the name Roger McKenzie. Roger was the writer during a redefining Daredevil run in the 80s with Frank Miller. But he's also done so much more! He started with Warren Publishing in the 70s, writing for series like Creepy, Eerie, and Vampirella. He did some work on horror and western titles for DC, before moving to Marvel. There, aside from Daredevil, Roger wrote the Battlestar Galactica adaptation, Captain America, and Marvel Fanfare. He's also written for a variety of indie publishers, including Pacific, Comico, Sirius, Pied Piper, and Eclipse.

A fount of superlative editorial skill and knowledge, you may know Diana Schutz from her 25 years at Dark Horse Comics, where she oversaw such game-changing series as Frank Miller's Sin City, Mike Mignola's Hellboy, Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo, Paul Chadwick's Concrete, and Matt Wagner's Grendel, to name but a few. Of course, we rewind all the way back to the beginning, where Diana started her comics career at a Canadian shop earnestly titled The ComicShop. Diana then created a comicsw newsletter called the Telegraph Wire and contributed to various fanzines and conventions, before she was hired at Marvel for a short stint. Then, it was on to Comico, during that imprint's heyday, and ultimately Dark Horse. What a career, and we barely scratch the surface!

You can find and follow Diana on Facebook.
