One of the many drawbacks of being a woman with human giver syndrome (Burnout 2020) is that we so often become an object in our lives instead the subject of it. In other words, we feel powerless to effect change and start to become more and more resigned to the life we have even when it is not one that is bringing us joy and contentment. In order to change this, we first must change our approach. We must learn how to have agency. To be the doer of things in our lives and not the people that things are done to. Take a listen and learn more about this key component to designing the lives we want to be living.Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle Paperback – March 26, 2019 by Emily Nagoski (Author), Amelia Nagoski (Author)Visit us at LearnToLoveYourStory.com DISCLAIMER: The content in this podcast and video is not a replacement for therapy and is not clinical, medical, or mental health treatment. What is a midlife crisis? We throw this term around a lot and people aren't always certain what it means. Dr. Natalie will break it down for you in today's episode. AND...she tells us how she needs no more than 30 minutes with you to have enough information to tell you whether you are headed for a midlife crisis yourself.
We all know that midlife is hard and can be even harder when we have old patterns of behavior that are no longer working for us. We know better. We even have a good idea of what we need to do to change things, yet it seems almost impossible to make that change. You know what I'm talking about. You want to go to the gym more, but can't seem to implement the plan you have. Or, you want to start eating better, but instead you are snacking all the time still. It drives you nuts. You know better and are still unable to put new practices into action. In today's podcast Dr. Natalie will also give us some insight into this immunity to change and how we can better address it.
