The Duke Blue Devils were able to get another huge blowout win on Saturday, this time against the Florida State Seminoles. We recap the victory on Episode 698.
Jason and Donald, after the headlines, get into the game and start by commending the team on how well they responded after Cooper Flagg had to leave the game for a while after getting swatted in the eye. That could have really affected the team, but so many guys stepped up. In a 35-point blowout, there was a lot of love to be spread around in the good, so we do just that.
We also get into some of the things to improve from this game, leading with the fact that it wasn’t the best shooting game. Still, the team was able to get to 100 points for the 4th time this season (and 3rd straight Saturday), and we end with the best sequence Duke has had all year and our Player of the Week.

There is some bonus Blue Devil coverage on TV this weekend. The ACC Network will be airing an hour-long documentary titled, "We're #1 - The 1991/1992 Duke Blue Devil National Champions." The doc features brand new interviews with most of the major players on those teams as well as the coaches and much, much more. And, to celebrate the release of this special program. The Duke Basketball Roundup sat down with the producer of that documentary, Ed Mabe, to hear from him about how he got it made and his favorite moments from talking to Coach K and the 91/92 champs.
You will get to hear about the special relationship between Bobby Hurley and Christian Laettner as well as the way Coach K lit a fire under the team and sparked them to the 1991 title.

The Duke Blue Devils destroyed the Miami Hurricanes, but it may have come at a huge cost as Jason and Donald recap everything on DBR Bites #95.
The big focus of the crew is on Tyrese Proctor, who injured his knee last night during the game. There’s no official word on what the diagnosis is, but we hope it’s not major. We discuss what his absence means for the team and we discuss some of the headlines that came in, some well before they were due.
On the court, Isaiah Evans was once again on fire and we lead with another fun game from him. The rest of the team showed out on offense and defense, and we get to a lot of each. From Kon Knueppel to Cooper Flagg to Big Pat Ngongba and Caleb Foster, it was a sight to watch this team absolutely cook the Canes.
We discuss a couple of the things that we want to see improve from this game as well as the Play of the Game, and we’ll be back in your feeds very quickly as Florida State awaits this weekend.

The Duke Blue Devils are back on the road, this time on a trip to take on the Miami Hurricanes. We preview tomorrow’s game on DBR Bites #94.
Before the game preview of the team that we’ve seen before, we heard from Coach Jon Scheyer on the rumors linking Jai Lucas to the Miami head coaching job. Donald was able to get some info from the weekly ACC press conference, so you won’t want to miss what Scheyer had to say. We then get into previewing the Canes, who are the worst team in the ACC. Still it’s a game that Duke wants to win to keep their momentum going. We’ll also hear from Miami interim coach Bill Courtney about some of his lineup rotations and what he thinks the Canes need to do in order to beat Duke.

Well, that was fun (provided you are not an Illinois fan). In honor of Duke putting an historic beatdown on the Illini, The Duke Basketball Roundup presents an extra long episode to recap all the great moments from this contest. From Sion's opening three to Spencer's awesome step-back, the DBR team has all you need to know about the game. It is a rarity in the sport these days, two major conference teams venturing outside of their league for a mid-Februrary matchup. But, that is exactly what Duke and Illinois will be doing this weekend and the DBR Podcast is very excited about it. This huge, huge game is a chance for Duke to show that it is more than a bully who just beats up on weak ACC teams. Illinois brings strong metrics and an impressive roster (headlined by a future high lottery pick) into this matchup. For your mid-week enjoyment, DBR Podcast co-host Jason Evans sits down with a fellow member of the Duke class of 1989, Danny Ferry, one of the all-time great Duke hoops players. They start by chatting about the current Duke team, which Danny thinks could be historically good... like the best Duke team in at least 20 years. Their wide ranging conversation also gets into the ways the game of basketball has changed in recent years; reflections on the game where Danny set the Duke record by scoring 58 points in one contest; his decision not to play for the LA Clippers and to head to Italy instead; and how tight the Brotherhood is (especially among NBA front-office Dukies). Oh, and Jason also asks him for a Coach K story and Danny comes through with a salty tale about one of the major reasons he ended up picking Duke when he was being recruited.

Duke did it again! They walked out of John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville with an 80-62 win over the Virginia Cavaliers, the largest victoy Duke has had in that gym. We recap it almost immediately after the game on Episode 695.
UVA made Duke work for it, but Duke was able to overcome it with rebounding and tough defense. They also were making shots and it was thrill to watch so many guys contribute in different ways. Cooper Flagg was Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel really did well in the paint, and Isaiah Evans was Showtime Slim. Each of them had 17 points each to pace Duke, and we talk about their contributions and so much more!
The unfortunate part of the game was Maliq Brown likely dislocating his shoulder while deflecting a pass in the 1st half. His status is once again in question, but we’re more confident about how Duke will respond given the growth of this team. We end with our Plays of the Game and a look at Duke Women’s Basketball getting a 3 seed in the Women’s Basketball Top 16 reveal.

It is a quick turnaround for the Duke Blue Devils as they travel to Virginia for a Monday night contest with Virginia. The DBR Podcast guys have a warning... The Cavs may present more of a challenge than you think. Virginia has had a bad season, for sure, but they've been a good bit better lately and -- believe it or not -- appear to be clicking pretty nicely on offense. It’s another fun one! Jason and Donald are back with Episode 694 to recap Duke’s stomping of the Stanford Cardinal.
Duke was able to frustrate Stanford with their defense, and it was a sight to see. After general thoughts and headlines, we discuss how the defense allowed Duke to feel comfortable all afternoon. The offense was on point as well, and Duke shot really well. We hit our stride and there were several notable performances to highlight.
We get into some nitpicky things that we can improve, but when you score 106 points in a 36-point win, it makes for a fun and entertaining recap! We end with our play of the game and a split Player of the Week. We will be back in your feeds very soon to preview the Virginia game.

The Duke Blue Devils return to the court on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Stanford Cardinal to town. We preview the game on DBR Bites #91.
Stanford comes in as a decent team, and Jason and Donald are ready for the Cardinal's first visit as ACC members. However, the biggest story is the return of Jaylen Blakes, forever beloved by the Blue Devil faithful. He also returns as arguably the most improved player in the nation. He also has a teammate in Maxime Raynaud who is probably the 2nd best player in the ACC. We go through the rest of the Cardinal players in a departure from our normal order.
We also get into the analytics for Stanford. This team has a couple of things they're pretty good at, but there are also some weaknesses. We end with the things that you should watch for as the Blue Devils look to get another win in conference play.

Duke had no trouble beating the Cal Bears in Cameron on Wednesday night and it is a real testament to the quality of these Blue Devils that the Duke Basketball Roundup crew didn't start out their recap podcast by raving about how great the game way. A 21 point beatdown just isn't that surprising from this crew of Blue Devils. Still, Jason and Donald found plenty to talk about on their latest episode including the stellar play of the team D and the offensive explosion we are seeing from Tyrese Proctor.

The Duke Blue Devils have a huge test on Saturday night against the Clemson Tigers. We preview the Quad 1 game on DBR Bites #89.

Ho hum, another relaxing Duke victory where the outcome was never in doubt. The Duke Basketball Roundup crew has a breakdown of one of the more complete efforts we've seen all year from Duke, an 83-54 dismantling of Syracuse. From the stellar defense to the crisp ball movement on offense, Duke was in control throughout this one. Special shout-out to Maliq Brown, returning to his old stomping grounds and showing off the defensive prowess that has made him one of the elite disruptors in the country. Oh and we really need to know if a blocked shot can also be an assist, because Khaman Maluach had a connection to Isaiah Evans that sure looked like it was part-block, part-pass.

This was a fun one to record. The Duke Blue Devils destroyed the North Carolina Tar Heels last night, and we do a thorough recap of everything on Episode 690!
Last night’s DBR Bites was a quick recap on vibes, so in this one deals with the substance of how Duke did so well against UNC. It started with the defense, but Duke excelled on all sides of the basketball. Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel were dominant, but Duke was able to pour on the pressure and everyone on the team provided something for that.
We of course get into everything good about the game, but we also discuss the things to improve. It wasn’t all perfect, but the end result absolutely was. We’re on a high and we should be...stay for our Play of the Game and our Player of the Week awards, but stay after the Duke Band for some postgame content about arguably the biggest NBA trade of all time!

The Duke Basketball Roundup guys will have a stat-filled, analysis-laden recap of the whupping that Duke put on Carolina in the coming hours, but Jason and Donald just wanted to hop on quickly for an insta-reaction to Duke absolutely torching the hated Tar Heels in Cameron. The final score doesn't even come close to showing what a massive beatdown this contest was. Hang on... I just called it a contest. It wasn't. Carolina was non-competitive and could do nothing against Duke when it mattered (the final few minute flurry is meaningless and we all know it).
