In this conversation, Myke Dixon invites us back to the heart of who we are before the noise of the world pulls us away. We explore creativity as self-expression, kindness as a form of cultural leadership, and why learning to trust our inner impulses might be the most future proof skill we have. Together we unpack how small, human acts can change the way we show up at work, at home and within ourselves. It is warm, grounding, and quietly transformative.

Key Takeaways
Creativity is less about talent and more about trusting the quiet impulses within us.Self-expression is a powerful antidote to a noisy, numbed world. In an age of AI and sameness, our humanity becomes our greatest value.Kindness, generosity and presence are not soft skills. They are differentiators.Rituals matter, but presence matters more. Routine only works when we stay connected to why it exists.Creativity expands when we stop treating it like a performance and start experiencing it like a walk or a song.Community deepens when we show even a small spark of our true selves. Like attracts like.We future proof our careers and our lives by being more human, not less.Key Quotes
âYou feel this tiny whispering impulse that something wants to be born and you trust it and act on it. The universe takes 500 steps toward you.ââYour relevance in the world will amplify when you bring more kindness, creativity and generosity into how you show up.ââWe can build a new world by being this way. Even if the world cannot see it yet.ââCreativity is not about arriving anywhere. It is about being in the experience.ââOnce you get a taste of presence, you start getting hungry for more.âMusic created by Claire's daughter Hannah

In this episode I pick up from our last ep the Creative Cure & had the absolute joy of riffing with Myke Dixon for a conversation that felt less like an interview and more like a part self-expression part creative awakening or ALIVE'ING.
If youâve ever felt the tension between who you are and who youâve been conditioned to be this episode is truly for you, I am so sure you are going to love it! In this episode we unpacked the real work of reclaiming our aliveness, trusting our instincts, and bringing more humanity back into the places we lead, work and create.
This is part one, the second half of this interview will drop Thursday 27th November.

Key Takeaways from this Episode:
1. Creativity is not something you do, it can help us find who we really are. Creaivity is not a rare artistic skill, its energy, aliveness & self-expression. We don't learn creativity we rediscover it!
2. Fear and judgement get in the way - we need to reconsider the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and question why we think we need to do this for others, creativity and self-expression is food for your soul.
3. Modern life has created a great numbinng - watch out for those Matrix references
4. Self Expression is a lot broader than art - think about the journey and the freedom to create more than the outcome.
5. Reclaim your workplace and think about the opportunity to create meaning with your co-workers and teams, try to break down some of the process and to allow the Artisian approach to venture into the workplace.
What you still have to look forward to:
In the second half of this interview we will talk about how to bring Aliveness back into your work and life, some simple creative practices that can help transform your day and how to trust your gut more and say yes to those impulses that are calling us to ACTION.

In The Creative Cure: Why Cultivating Creative Expression Fuels Success, we explore how creativity isnât just for artists, itâs an important leadership and wellbeing tool. We unpack the neuroscience behind creative expression, its power to lower stress and boost problem-solving, and how leaders can cultivate creativity to enhance empathy, resilience, and innovation.
Key Takeaways
Creativity is a core leadership skill: It strengthens cognitive flexibility and resilience like a workout for your brain. A regular creative practice builds better problem-solving capacity and adaptability.Stress relief through creative flow: Creative acts lower cortisol levels, providing a reset that helps manage stress.Creativity drives innovation: Great companies like Pixar, intentionally design cultures that allow experimentation, candor, and play. AI can enhance, not replace, creativity: When used mindfully, generative AI can help spark ideas and expand our imaginative reach, while human judgment and our ability to think creatively remains essential.Reclaiming âcreative confidenceâ: Over 90% of adults believe theyâre ânot creativeâ due to old âart scarsâ itâs time to reclaim creativity as a human, everyday skill that improves wellbeing and leadership giving a âwhole-of-life advantage.âStandout Quotes
âCreativity is not about waiting for inspiration, itâs about making space for it to show up.â Myke Dixon, The Everyday CreativeâCreativity isnât optional. Itâs essential. Itâs how we reconnect with ourselves, with others, and with bigger possibilities.â ClaireâEngaging in creative acts rewires the brain and creates new neural pathways. Episode Introduction
In this conversation Claire and Miranda bust the myth that success requires operating at peak performance 24/7. Surge. Tilt. Succeed: This episode offers your Blueprint for Sustainable Energy as they introduce the powerful concepts of surging (those intentional high-energy periods where you harness momentum) and tilting (the conscious pauses and adjustments that keep you aligned, healthy and creative). Learn how to plan both phases so you can thrive in work and life without burning out or going into overdrive.Key Takeaways
Strategic surging beats reactive busyness: Choose when to surge and channel your energy into the few projects that create the greatest impact.Tilt to sustain your success: Micro-tilts (like a mindful lunch walk or device-free commute) and bigger tilts (like saying no to a project, booking in active planning breaks or real downtime) to replenish energy and spark creativity.Watch for the three risks of unchecked surging: burnout, disconnection and overdrive.Energy management is a form of time management: Track what energises or drains you and ditch or delegate âenergy vampires.âCommunicate Surge or Tilt mode: Let teammates and also family (as this tip isn't just for work life) know when youâre in surge or tilt mode to avoid misunderstandings and to model healthy boundaries.Active reflection is non-negotiable: Pausing to ask âWhat is this surge creating for my long-term goals?â helps you steer the wave, not just ride it, or show up as "busy, busy, busy".Key Quotes
âSurges donât happen forever and they shouldnât, otherwise we have burnout" â MirandaâTilt is where our judgment, empathy and values come in; itâs choosing to move more meaningfully, not just fast.â ClaireâAction doesnât need to be grandâsmall, brave choices compound into the life that you want.â Maria Baltazzi, Take a Shot at Happiness âImagination is not an indulgence. The True Value of Human Skills in Leadership
In an era quickly changing & obsessing over AI tools and automation, this episode emphasizes that our most valuable career asset continues to be fundamentally human. In this episode Miranda and Claire are here to convince you that conversations about money and finances are fun! How can that be, you ask. Because having a positive mindset about all things $ is a critical element to unlocking our opportunity to live life on our own terms.
We dive into some of the crazy stats about how much women are stressing about money. We chat about how wonderful it can be to embark on a learning journey to explore our own money mindsets and change them for the better. And why now is the perfect time to supercharge our collective girl power and change the money game in a way that our future selves, and the next generation of women, will love us for it.
Our action challenge this week: To dig deep into our money mindset. Write down the emotions you're feeling around money and any financial goals you've been putting off. Choose one of them to take action on. Set clear timelines on when you will get it done. Take a least one step towards that goal in the next two weeks. And, importantly, decide on a reward you will treat yourself to when you've achieved that money goal for yourself.

Sallie Krawcheck's book OWN IT, comes at a terrific juncture in our podcast episodes as her concepts support and build on discussions we have shared around courageous conversations, time & boundaries in earlier episodes and also some of season 1 around women's key strenghs and the value of your WHY, your purpose and owning your power.
Healthy risk awarenessThe ability to see things holistically & thus manage complexityOur relationship building skillsA longer term perspective - which ties nicely into a better way to negotiate A love of learningDrive for impact and meaning
As a financial guru, owner of Ellevest female investing platform and a vetran of wall street Sallie is also the perfect starting point for our next few episodes on money is not a dirty word.
In this episode we share our favourite quotes, concepts and mindset shifts post reading this book. It is a fun & informative conversation and lots of great ideas to discuss. Definitely one you will extract great value from your time investment!
SHOW NOTES
Action Challenge:
1. Highly recommend checking out this book, its an easy & quality read
2. Taking these 6 skills that women have been proven in many studies to bring . Think about how you can elevate your position at work or on your linkedin profile by encorporating these:Key thougts from Sallie:
Valuable skills + more career options + more information + financial power equals the opportunity to have an impact. A big impact
We need to stop âempoweringâ women as the definition of empowering is to give power to and for women to understand and realise the power they already possess
âNetworking has been cited as the number one unwritten rule of success in business. Who you know really impacts what you know.â
We are on the fourth wave of feminism and finance will be the power we weild.
Sallie takes a lot of care in her writing to debunk the Myth that: Women need more financial education to invest

Its a great episode we look forward to you listening to this one & then in our next pod we deep dive on time management tips and tricks.

Each fortnight we are dishing up bite sized, curated content and actionable tips to help focus you on achieving success on your own terms.
This episode we check in on our word for the year and then dive into a very topical issue of facing into the changes that are occurring in our post pandemic workplaces and homes as we all seek to solve how we learn from this experience and perhaps adapt to a new way of working.
We encourage you to think about what you need to achieve your goals and start to define what is working for you, how you want to show up, and what changes you are seeking. In this episode we share some compelling figures to take into your next chat and some thought leadership to help see all of your options.
Action challenge: Let's get curious and courageous about identifying someone in your life, whether that's your partner, your boss, anyone, identifying someone in your life that you need to have some brave conversations with, that would result in you taking a step forward to living life on your terms.

This week I have convinced my wonderfully talented co-host to share some more insights into her financial background as we introduce our last pillar, finessing your finances.
We share why we have included our financial pillar and set minds at ease. We are not financial advisors nor do we plan to be giving any direct investment advice.
Instead we want to bring awareness to the power that comes with a solid financial mindset, paired with some probing questions to help you identify when your financial literacy might need further curiosity.
Simple things like do you really know where your money is, how much ROI your cash is giving you, including super, that you have enough squirreled away that you donât need to tolerate an untenable situation - be that a manager or working environment and that you have not given your power. To explore our behaviour around money, conscious & subconscious and to acknowledge that as women we are far less comfortable discussing finances and therefore we are not supporting each other in this super important space
My interview with Claire explores her background in the financial industry, some insights and observations of the financial world. Find out how the average women responds when Claire shares she is from this world and a great discussion on how we start conversations with our friends and family around finance. And we need to start! We share some startling findings around Australian womenâs financial literacy and some books, articles & pods to get you started.

This week's pod, episode 10 we are exploring what it means to cultivate your career.
In terms of success on our own terms model, it's about having a long-term view of where you want to be, set some goals and work towards our future selves.Doing some mindful and active reflection on the year that's been and how that can help you think about career for 2022 and beyond.
Then using those reflections with some of the work we did in earlier podcasts, forming your why and what your long-term goals are. We'll give you a few thought starter hacks for setting yourself some career goals and doing a bit of career planning, because unbelievably we are in the very back end of 2021.
Quotes:
Steve Jobs, âThe only way to do great work is to love what you do.â Simon Sinek, âLoving your work is a right, not a privilege. Michelle Gibbings, âRegardless of how you feel about your job right now at some stage in the future, you'll need to shift, reshape or reinvent your career.âShow Notes:
