  • Get ready! Today we sit down with Eli Harwood, the brilliant mind (and heart) behind Instagram’s hugely popular Attachment Nerd account.

Ever wondered if you are doing this parenting thing right? If you're too soft or permissive, too harsh and controlling, or doing okay? Even I swing between these like a pendulum sometimes!

Eli and I break down the different attachment styles and discuss how they show up in both children and adults.

She helps clear up common misconceptions about attachment theory and shares how emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in fostering secure attachments.

I love that we tackled the challenges of setting boundaries around technology and screen time. And here's some good news: parents don't have to be perfectly attuned to their kids 100% of the time.

This episode is packed with comforting truths and practical tips to help you raise emotionally resilient, confident, and kind children.

  • In this solo episode of the Emotionally Intelligent Parenting Podcast, I dive into a recent bedtime meltdown with one of our kids that could have gone COMPLETELY off the rails. And a few years ago, it totally would have. But, instead of losing my cool or resorting to punishing her for yelling and being "rude", I chose a different approach - one rooted in patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
I take you through exactly how I managed to stay calm (wasn't easy), change my perspective on her behaviour (super helpful), and co-regulate with her until we both found our way back to peace.... and her into bed!
I also share practical tips and strategies you can use when your child is having a tough, emotionally charged moment. I like to think this episode is a heartfelt reminder that even in the most challenging times, we have the power to be the parents our children need.
    Enjoy! Steph.

  • Are you raising teens or tweens?
In this episode of Emotionally Intelligent Parenting, join me for a heartfelt conversation with our guest, teen parent coach Kirsten Cobabe. Kirsten emphasizes the power of connection, explaining how having someone who truly sees and supports a teen can help them avoid or escape risky situations. She also shared her own story of navigating a dangerous relationship as a teen.
We delve into understanding rebellious and strong-willed teens, the importance of getting curious rather than furious, and why parents mustn't jump to conclusions or punish immediately. (Come on we know that never works, right!!) Kirsten also highlights the value of allowing teens to take safe risks and the critical role of truly listening. "Parents are not supposed to do this alone," she reminds us, as we learn practical strategies for staying connected with our teens amidst the challenges of vaping, smartphones, and the TikTok lifestyle.
I know you will take so much away from this chat, even if you're like me and don't yet have teens! We gotta be prepared, right? Enjoy - and follow Kirsten. Links below.

  • Welcome back to our raw and enlightening conversation with the incredible Daniel Franco!
In this second part of our chat, we dive deep into the evolving world of fatherhood, focusing on emotional intelligence and the art of gentle parenting.
In this episode, we explore how today's dads can rise to the occasion, embracing fatherhood like never before—because our kids are counting on it.
We tackle the challenge many women face when their husbands seem to be on a different wavelength and discuss why forcing a change in their parenting approach is rarely effective.
Daniel and I also address a common misconception: that gentle parenting creates overly sensitive "snowflakes." We break down why this stereotype misses the mark and reveal the real secret to raising strong, resilient kids—and it's NOT what most dads think!
Join us for an uplifting, eye-opening discussion that will inspire and empower both mums and dads on their parenting journey.

  • Today on Emotionally Intelligent Parenting with Stephanie Pinto, I sit down with Daniel Franco, the insightful host of Dads Lifting Dads podcast, for part one of a compelling two-part interview.
Dan shares his experiences and wisdom on navigating the challenges of fatherhood from a modern perspective. No "suck it up buttercup" or "emotions make you weak" from him! We delve into some big topics like aligning parenting styles with your partner - can it be done?, mothers' concerns about fathers causing emotional trauma with their harsh tactics, and the debate around gentle parenting and permissiveness.
Our conversation about how to raise boys who are both resilient and emotionally intelligent was one of the most powerful I've had. Dan offers practical advice and heartfelt insights and calls on fathers to step up to be more present and supportive in their families. Keep an ear out for Part 2 next week!

  • In this episode, I chat with Sarah R. Moore and discuss why disciplining, not punishing, children is crucial for their development.
Sarah explains how positive, natural, and logical consequences are WAY more helpful and much less damaging. She emphasizes that discipline can be constructive, fostering respectful and peaceful relationships.
We tackle the question of whether parental unity (both parents being on the "same page") is that important and debunk the myth that harshness prepares kids for a tough world, revealing instead that it leads to unhealthy relationships.
Sarah passionately advocates for raising children in ways that encourage them to seek supportive, collaborative, and healthy connections. Join us to learn how we can transform the world, family by family.

A bit about Sarah R. Moore: She's the author of "Peaceful Discipline: Story Teaching, Brain Science & Better Behavior" and founder of Dandelion Seeds Positive Parenting. As a certified Master Trainer in conscious parenting and Chairperson of the Board for the American Society for the Positive Care of Children, she’s also a public speaker, parent coach, armchair neuroscientist, and most importantly, a Mama. Her work has been featured on NBC, CBS, and SiriusXM, and in countless international parenting magazines. • Get ready to dive into "Honour Your Child's Sensory System To Reduce Meltdowns, Stress, and Conflict" with me, Stephanie Pinto, and the amazing Laura Petix, OT extraordinaire.
Laura, the brains behind The OT Butterfly and the author of "A Kids book about neurodiversity," spills the beans from her podcast, The Sensory W.I.S.E. Solutions Podcast.
We're chatting about the nervous system budget (that's your child's unique capacity to tackle life's hurdles). Learn how tailoring to individual needs is the secret sauce to household zen. Laura is all about respecting different neurotypes and serving up body-based regulation tips. Also, your child isn't trying to drive you bonkers—it's just brains and bodies doing their thing! Laura helps explain the sweet spot between coddling and accommodating.
Psst... Laura has an amazing free sensory profile waiting for you on her website. Don't miss out on this uplifting conversation.

  • After removing YouTube from our home about 4 months ago (see previous episode on this in Dec 2023), we had a huge setback this past week. This is a pretty vulnerable episode, I wish I handled myself and the situation better... but, lesson learnt. I know you'll take a lot away from this episode - I speak about boundaries, safety, dealing with big emotions, dysregulation, anxiety and even laughing in the face of a crying child (yep, that was me. Told you I'm not perfect!).
Do your kids access YouTube in your home? How does you find it - fine, worrying or downright stressful? I'd love to know.***
