This week, weâre on a second contact mission, revisiting Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 5 âA Night in Sickbay,â now that Maria, Bill have watched it. We also have our special guest medical expert Topher back on to chat more about how medical science is portrayed on Star Trek. A word of warning: If you havenât listened to the episode before this one, âSickbay Slumber Party!,â go listen to that first because this is a follow up to last week.

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 5 âA Night in Sickbay,â but only Jamie has actually watched the episode. Archer brings his dog to the planet of easily offended people, despite it very obviously being a bad idea, and then has a temper tantrum when asked to apologize. Also, Porthos is sick, there is an escaped bat, and for some reason chainsaws are involved (?!). Plus, we have a special guest, medical expert Topher (Bluesky: @anisotoph), that we get to torture with the medical âscienceâ in this episode.

This week, weâre on a second contact mission, revisiting Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 4 âDead Stop,â but now Jamie and Bill have watched it. After going through a minefield last episode, the Enterprise and crew aren't in the best of shape. Malcolm has to have Phlox Worm PT and the ship is going to take years to repair. But they find a repair station that is going to solve all their problems and surely nothing at all will go awry... A word of warning: If you havenât listened to the episode before this one, âAlways Read the Fine Print,â go listen to that first because this is a follow-up to last week.

This week, weâre on a second contact mission, revisiting Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 3 âMinefield,â now that Maria and Jamie have actually watched it. And we have special guest Erica on to tell us about the history of the Vulcans and Romulans!

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 3 âMinefield,â but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Hey everyone itâs a Malcolm-focused episode which means the writers are shaking the Etch-A-Sketch and giving us another new take on the character. It all starts with an awkward breakfast and then HOLY CRAP things are blowing up. Can Malcolm and Archer navigate both a physical minefield and their emotional minefield as Malcolm finally confesses⊠ah just kidding. Anyway, Romulans.

Surprise! We are changing our format around a little for season 2 and now, youâre going to see us in your feed weekly! Instead of reviewing the previous episode and going into the next one all in one episode, we are undertaking new Second Contact missions! Every other week, weâll look at the episode we watched the week before, after everyone has watched it so you can get all our thoughts about this episode just a week after the explainer.
So welcome to Second Contact, where we revisit the Star Trek: Enterprise episode Carbon Creek. A word of warning: If you havenât listened to the episode before this one, âThe Facts of Warp,â go listen to that first because this is a follow up to last week. Jamie and Bill have finally watched the episode and itâs time to hear what they thought!

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 2 âCarbon Creek,â but only Maria has actually watched the episode. TâPol tells Trip and Archer that they might not have their historical facts straight. This episode is widely considered one of the best Enterprise episodes, and we think we might agree. Does it have to do with the fact that none of the lead characters from Enterprise play any part in the story? You decide! We are joined by special guest, Bryan from the Trek, Marry, Kill podcast!

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 1 âShockwave Part II,â but only Jamie has actually watched the episode. The Suliban have taken over the Enterprise, Captain Archer is stuck in the future, and Starfleet is considering canceling the entire deep space program. The only way to save it is for Archer to give a rousing speech over a Teams call about that time he saw a gazelle give birth in Africa, but will it be enough?

We have reached the end of Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1! Jamie, Bill, and Maria are joined by Sue from the Women at Warp podcast to take a step back and talk about what itâs been like gettinâ from there to here. Who do we like? Who do we hate? What is this show even about? Why are we still watching it? How did we get through a full season? At what point will they replace Malcolm with Porthos and how much better will the show get when that happens?

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 26 âShockwave Part 1,â but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Fam, itâs been a long road, but weâve finally made it to the season one finale! Things go from bad to worse as the Enterprise crew accidentally commits genocide before a time wizard shows up to solve all their problems and are they even grateful? Hahahahahahahaha⊠no. It all ends in a cliffhanger where Archer is stranded in a horrific future and Enterprise is about to be destroyed in what frankly feels like some karmic payoff, but itâs all⊠to be continued!

SPECIAL GUEST: Jarrah from the Women at Warp podcast
Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 25 âTwo Days and Two Nights,â but only guest-explainer Jarrah has actually watched the episode. The Enterprise crew finally makes it to Risa, where heteronormativity abounds. Itâs two days and two nights of scams, injuries, sexy language lessons, and some incredibly wild outfits and wigs.

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 24: âDesert Crossingâ but only Maria has actually watched the episode. The Enterprise responds to a distress call and the captain they rescue is so grateful, he invites Archer and Trip down to his sunny home planet for a visit. Looking forward to a boondoggle, the boys head to the planet where they drink some wine and enjoy some slow-motion space lacrosse before learning that theyâre actually maybe in a terrorist camp and things switch from Baywatch to 24 REAL FAST.

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 23: âFallen Heroâ but only Jamie has actually watched the episode. The Enterprise gets to go on its very first ambassador escort mission! All they have to do is pick up an important Vulcan ambassador and then drop her off at a ship thatâs a mere two days away. Easy peasy. Even this Enterprise crew canât mess up a task that simple, right?

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 22: âVox Solaâ but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Plus, we have special guest K.O. Myers from Particulate Media joining us this episode. The Enterprise has been penetrated by a very slimy tentacled creature who has captured Archer, Trip, a random ensign, and Angelica Schuyler in its sticky slime. The slime creature will slowly devour them all if they arenât freed soon, but thatâs not even the worst part; their minds are all now psychically linked and Archerâs brain is constantly thinking about nothing but water polo. TâPol and Hoshi better find a way to free them soon before they all have to hear a full play-by-play of the 2134 water polo regionals piped directly into their brain!

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 21: âDetainedâ but only Maria has actually watched the episode. Archer and Mayweather blunder into a military zone and get thrown into an internment camp filled with Suliban. This is definitely not a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11 and certainly a nuanced and thoughtful take on a complex situation. Oh wait, no - itâs the opposite of that. But it brings the late, great Dean Stockwell back together with Scott Bakula and weâre pretty excited about that.

Weâre watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 1, Episode 19: âAcquisitionâ but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Ferengi pirates somehow manage to incapacitate every member of the Enterprise aside from a half-naked Trip, who is now tasked with saving the rest of the crew. The bad news is that the Ferengi are peak TNG-era annoying. The good news is that we will never have to see them again on this show.
