En la historia del rock, 1991 es habitualmente señalado como el año en el que todo cambió. Se repite una y otra vez, que la aparición del grunge fue el gran responsable de este cambio y en particular el ascenso de Nirvana. Pero la realidad es poquitín más compleja que eso. La realidad es que fue una suma de hitos musicales que, increíblemente, ocurrieron en 44 días, entre los meses de agosto y septiembre de 1991.
