Did you have a best friend who was once your whole world… until they weren't?
The friend you spoke to every day. The one who knew your secrets, your family, your dreams, and every version of you. The person you thought would be standing beside you for the rest of your life.
Then something happened. Maybe there was a betrayal. Maybe you drifted apart. Maybe the friendship ended in a single moment, or maybe it slowly unraveled over years. Whatever the reason, it left a mark.
We're looking for stories for our new podcast, Everyone Has An Ex Best Friend—a series about friendship, heartbreak, loyalty, loss, and the people we never expected to lose.
If you have a story to share, we'd love to hear from you.

TW: This episode discusses domestic violence, drug use and other explicit content, and is strictly for over 18s. If you or anyone you know needs support, there is a list of services below.
We all have a type. Tall, dark, blonde, tradies, “the nice guy”—the list goes on. But Tessa’s type didn’t fit neatly into any of those boxes. Hers came with a certain edge… the kind of past you don’t always ask too many questions about.
The thing about that kind of attraction? It rarely comes alone. Because with that edge often comes something else—history, habits, and a kind of baggage that doesn’t stay buried for long.

TW: This episode discusses suicide and won’t be for everyone. If you or anyone you know needs support, there is a list of services below.
There’s something special about meeting someone later in life. You have a stronger sense of who you are, shaped by everything you’ve been through—the highs, the lows—and you move with a kind of calm confidence that just fits. That was the case for Amy and Matt.
But life has a way of testing you. The longer you live it, the more you’re asked to carry—and over time, that weight can take its toll. Even with the strongest support around you, some burdens are just too heavy to hold.

Sleep — a time to rest, recover, and reset, allowing you to wake refreshed and ready to face a brand new day. That elusive eight hours we all strive for, filled with dreams that quietly keep us company through the night. But for Cindy, sleep wasn’t a luxury. It was something a little more complicated
And while those complications can steal those dreams away - what you don’t expect is for them to be replaced by nightmares — not the kind you have in your sleep, but the kind that are happening in real life.

Freedom—there’s nothing quite like it. Especially at the beginning of a new romance, when everything feels light, electric, and full of possibility.
But freedom can easily be taken for granted, overlooked or underappreciated. And like everything - there’s no guarantee it will last forever. And if or when that sense of freedom starts to slip away, the consequences don’t always just touch you, but start a ripple effect, affecting everything and everyone around you.

Power is an interesting thing when it comes to relationships. It can be shared, moved around when life and circumstances change, it can even be kinda hot.
But the key to navigating different power dynamics is in balance.
So when a relationship starts with the scales very much one way, it can prove near impossible to shift it, and all of a sudden you can find yourself nowhere near the driver’s seat, and spinning out of control.Email us: [email protected]

There’s nothing quite like the instant connection you feel when you meet someone and just know they could be “your person.” It’s a bond that runs deep—felt emotionally, intellectually, and physically—so powerful that, together, you feel capable that you can conquer anything and everything.
But with a connection this strong, it’s easy to overlook a few signs—to give your person the benefit of the doubt…but that doesn’t mean everyone in your corner will see it the same way.

What makes a perfect partner? Does the person you meet, catch feelings for and see a life with have to be perfect from the start? Or do you look at potential imperfections and think “I can fix them”? Especially when said imperfections are ones you have dealt with yourself?
That’s Jen. She’s what we’d call “a fixer”. The connection she had with Steve was strong enough that what others might perceive as red flags, she saw as things they could overcome. Together. No matter what it took.
But the problem with fixers is that they often fail to see what they’re losing in themselves, in trying to help the other person.Email us: [email protected]

Relationships can be a lot like games — you win some, you lose some, and just when you think you know the rules, they change. There are highs, lows, and the occasional plot twist you don’t see coming.
But the thing about games is when they’re over, you usually get a clean slate — a chance to reset and start again. But sometimes, just when it’s over… that’s when the real games begin.

“In sickness and in health.”
Words usually reserved for traditional wedding vows — not the beginning of a relationship in your early twenties.
But for Lucy and Lars, that was exactly how their story began. The thing about being sick in your twenties is that you carry an unshakable belief that you’ll bounce back. You’re young, after all.
But what happens when the illness lingers — an unsolved mystery that slowly takes over your life, your love, and the person you once were?

Communication is often touted as the number one maker or breaker of any relationship. And Ava and Aaron had it nailed.
So when open communication is the number one thing you’ve always had, what does it do to a relationship when all of a sudden, one party decides to keep something hidden? Literally hidden, under lock and key.

There are some love stories that just tug at the old heart strings. Nothing crazy, nothing dramatic, just old fashioned just boy meets girl, they fall in love, and the rest is history.
But the thing with fairytales is we never get the WHOLE story. Is there really such a thing as Happily Ever After … forever?

Patterns. They’re what keep us grounded — the familiar rhythms that shape our routines and relationships. When they’re good, they bring comfort, joy, and a sense of home. And honestly, you just can’t get enough of them.
But the thing about patterns is — not all of them are good. Some sneak up on you, starting small, barely noticeable at first. Then, before you realise it, they’ve taken hold — and suddenly, your whole life feels like it’s been turned upside down.

Religion. We often talk about the role it plays in a relationship - two people coming from different backgrounds with different beliefs. But when you find the right person, differences in belief systems don’t mean a thing, if you know you want to be together.
So when a relationship starts - and progresses - with that being the only difference, you’d never expect it to be something else entirely that blows up your relationship - and ultimately, your life.

Sometimes in life, you might feel like you’re missing a certain something but not be up for the fuss and mess and commitment that a real relationship may bring. Enter the situationship. A bit of fun with a nice person who makes you feel good, no strings attached.
But life often has its way of making even them messy. Sometimes it’s because of feelings getting involved. Sometimes it’s because it’s harder to get out of than expected. And sometimes, it’s because it turns out to not be the fun-loving easy-going situation you thought you were getting.

First love - remember that? The innocent fun, the inseparability, the rush of emotions, and all those unforgettable firsts. For Suzy and John, that was exactly what it was like.
The thing about first love is that one of the “firsts” is the breakup - a rite of passage, but never an easy one. But what happens when you go through two breakups at once? One with your ex, and another with someone you never imagined could…or should.. break your heart.

Belief systems run deep within us, etched into our nature and reinforced through our upbringing. We are moulded by the adults who surround us, people who, often with the best of intentions, shape our understanding of the world and pass down the lessons of life.
But sometimes, the very truths you were raised on harden into lies, and you’re left with no choice but to unlearn them, because your survival, your very sense of self, depends on it.
