Dr Anthony Chaffee is an American medical doctor and Neurosurgical resident who, over a span of 25+ years, has researched the optimal nutrition for human performance and health. It is his assertion that most of the so-called chronic diseases we treat as doctors are caused by the food we eat, or don’t eat, and can be reversed with dietary changes to a species specific diet.

  • Maia Sutherland

    Maia Sutherland says:

I am a life-long vegetarian turned carnivore. Now with far too much actual fuel going to my brain, I have become utterly obsessed with the topic and writing a book hoping to inspire people to spend parts of their life in ketosis and reduce their disharmonies.

The intention of the book is that anyone from any country, religion, education and budget, can benefit from applying what is laid out inside it. Other than that, I am also studying with Dr Nasha Winters, mostly for my own understanding rather than as a potential job.

I also make a superb line of unique jewellery often combining precious stones with 2000 year old beads and some gold!

Since carnivore for the first time in my life I can sleep through the night, and do maths and I marvel at how it buffers mental states such as depression and anxiety. Perhaps because I have more mental energy to think, I am more angry, or perhaps that is the peri-menopause which is a whole other conversation. I am totally in love with the subject of health, and through keto, carnivore and low carb, my understanding has gone through a huge upgrade. I am also a trained acupuncturist since 2002 and was a masseur for 12 years.

  • Doug Reynolds and Pam Devine

When Pam Devine turned 47 she was super excited that she had found something that helped her to lose the weight that she had put on since turning 40. Up until that point no matter what she did she couldnā€™t lose it. Pam felt she worked out more than many of the people she encountered during her workday and was getting super frustrated with her failure to keep her weight under control.

Once she and her partner Doug Reynolds found keto and changed their way of eating the weight dropped away and she found peace of mind, feeling totally satiated and more focused than she has ever been. Best yet, the ups and downs of blood sugar roller coaster have calmed and she feels like she found food freedom, lowering her growing anxiety of not knowing what to eat for health.

Now with Doug, Pam hosts the Low Carb USA events that bring together medical professionals and experts in the low carb / keto / carnivore world to share their knowledge and the latest research with other health professionals and non-healthcare people. They are working towards halting the catastrophic rise in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases that we’ve seen since 1977.

Pam is also one of the key Founding Members and Volunteers of The Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners.

Doug Reynolds is the Founder and CEO of LowCarbUSAĀ® and President of the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners.

LowCarbUSA (now called Symposium of Metabolic Health) provides a platform for internationally renowned scientists and medical practitioners to present the ever-increasing body of evidence on the benefits of reducing carbohydrates in the diet and adding in healthy fats. It has now evolved into one of the primary resources for the low carb community. This includes a huge library of educational videos, a growing database of practitioners and dietitians and sports trainers who are open to the carb restriction conversation as well as a searchable database for papers and articles covering the research into the evidence supporting this lifestyle.

The SMHP is a non-profit for practitioners focused on metabolic health and they have a panel of advisors to oversee the creation and maintenance of a set of ‘Clinical Guidelines for Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction’ which was first published in May, 2019. The SMHP also defines numerous pathways for accreditation and the forums encourage open discussion which helps to establish Standard of Care around carbohydrate restriction.

  • Robin Daly

Robin Daly is the Founder and Chairman of Yes to Life, the UKā€™s Integrative Cancer Care Charity. Robin founded the charity Yes to Life in response to the immense difficulties he faced in finding authentic, appropriate and available complementary and lifestyle treatments for his daughter Bryony, when she was facing cancer for the third time, aged twenty-two.

Cancer is one of the most complex conditions and is fraught with contradictions and disagreements in even the most fundamental areas, such as causes and mechanisms. In order to make intelligent decisions, one has to become a minor expert and in this field that is a very tall order. Then, even when you find approaches that may help you with your particular cancer, at your particular stage, as well as a practitioner who offers them in a location you are able to reach, there is still the matter of paying for what is uniformly private medicine.

So essentially people need help – they need help in finding a shortcut to the most promising avenues and some need help with funding. Above all, they needed a positive, supportive response to their difficulties. What was needed was a charity with no agenda other than to help people to build their own integrative programme – using the best on offer from both orthodox medicine and a broad range of other approaches – and then to support them in implementing it. So Robin established Yes to Life in 2005 as the first charity offering direct support to anyone with cancer in the UK looking for ways to help their own recovery.

  • Nayiri Mississian

I am an independent nutrition researcher. I have been involved in nutrition research since 2015 and currently working on a book emphasising the importance of correct nutrition for optimal health.

I work independently and have no associations with the food industry, pharmaceutical industry or any politically powered nutrition organisations. I receive no funds from any of these mentioned bodies, which gives me the freedom to objectively look at studies and share them with you without any biases, obligations or external pressures.

I share the scientific information I study with the followers in my members-only exclusive Facebook groups.

The groups promote the low carbohydrate/low insulin lifestyle as supported by scientific evidence. This is the only lifestyle, as shown in medical science, that prevents or reverses insulin resistance, thus dramatically reducing oneā€™s chances of developing metabolic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease, Alzheimerā€™s, unbalanced lipids, fatty liver disease, kidney dysfunction and even some types of cancer.

The low carb and fasting group members have free access to summarised information posts, recipes, tips, and weekly live videos. Members also receive support from me as well as others who are in the same journey. I love my research work and love sharing the information I uncover with others because I believe that knowledge is wonderfully infectious and expands when shared.

For members who need further support, I offer coaching services on a one-to-one basis to help them improve their health with good nutrition.

My professional background lies in linguistics, literature, education and translation. I am the founder and director of a translation company. I have 30 years of experience in the education field and have held teaching positions in many of Britainā€™s outstanding private schools.

I am also an avid gardener and grow my own food in the summer months. I love creating healthy recipes that promote nutrient-dense foods to achieve optimal health.

I have been a type 1 diabetic for 42 years. I am in great health thanks to the dietary and workout protocol that I follow. To find out more, join my Facebook group for type 1 diabetics who follow the low carb and fasting lifestyle.

  • Moira Newiss

Moira Newiss specialises in helping men and women suffering with chronic fatigue conditions like ME/CFS, long covid and fibromyalgia to regain their energy through a combination of nutrition and other lifestyle changes. She passionately believes that chronic fatigue is not necessarily for life, and she herself has fully recovered as has her son who also had chronic fatigue.

During her training Moira became fascinated by mitochondria and how they control energy production and metabolic function and in turn how a ketogenic diet can make them work more effectively producing less inflammation and more ATP, our energy fuel.

Moira uses a food first approach to make sure you are nourishing your body as much as possible. She will also support you to make changes in other aspects of your life such as sleep, stress, time spent outdoors, chemicals you might be exposed to as well as supporting relaxation and joy in your life.

Moira finds that this holistic approach provides the best results, layering up small changes until you get a significant change in how you feel. She can support you to help understand what might have gone wrong with your energy production and how to reboot it to get your energy back and your life on track again.

Moira has used a variety of ketogenic approaches in her work including a paleoketo and carnivore keto approach. She has recently become interested in how autoimmune conditions can be reversed by an animal based ketogenic diet and has recently successfully reversed her own thyroid autoimmune problem that she developed after a viral illness.

Paul Kolodzik, MD is board-certified by both the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Physicians. In a thirty-year emergency room career, he has cared for many patients in crisis and has witnessed firsthand the failures of mainstream diets and the medical system overall, which prioritises medications and surgery over diet and lifestyle changes to prevent and reverse disease. In his metabolic health practice Dr. Kolodzik uses the technology of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), previously used only by diabetics, to help his patients achieve weight loss and improved health.

In his recently published book, The Continuous Glucose Monitoring Revolution for Nondiabetics, Dr. Kolodzik shares how he has helped thousands of patients lose weight and prevent and reverse metabolic diseases such as hypertension, high cholesterol, prediabetes, GERD, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease and others using CGM. In this book, he presents a comprehensive program for metabolic health success using CGMs.

Dr. Kolodzik graduated from the University of Notre Dame and completed medical school and residency at Wright State University where he served as chief resident. He is a founding member of the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners.

  • Louise Benning

    Louise Benning says:

It all started in 2020, the worst year of my life which ultimately led to me making the best lifestyle changes for my health. At the time I didnā€™t even know what metabolic health was and looking back I can see how inflamed I was. I am never going back to that state again.

The initial change was in my diet by going low carb, clean Keto that over the next three years evolved to animal based/carnivore way of eating.

Most importantly my learning journey has made me confident in what I am doing by going against the mainstream medical and government advice, not only for me but my children and their future health. I will keep learning and living by example.
