Humanity's original diet, as recorded in the book of Genesis, was a vegetarian, plant-based diet composed of fruits, nuts, grains, and legumes. Vegetables were added after sin to combat and fight disease. It was only after the flood, over fifteen hundred years after Creation, that God permitted people to eat animal flesh.
