"11 Leben" geht endlich in die zweite Staffel: In "Die Welt von Lothar Matthäus" kommen wir einem der besten Fußballerspieler aller Zeiten ganz nah. Es ist die Geschichte des einzigen deutschen Weltfußballers – der gleichzeitig auch zu einer bisweilen tragischen und notorisch missverstandenen Figur des öffentlichen Lebens wird.
Lothar Matthäus ist Welt- und Europameister, deutscher Rekord-Nationalspieler und steht in einer Reihe mit Legenden wie Fritz Walter, Uwe Seeler und Franz Beckenbauer. Er hat sich auf den größten Bühnen des Fußballs mit Spielern wie Marco van Basten, Roberto Baggio und Diego Maradona gemessen. Und er ist seit Kindheitstagen ein Idol von Markus Kavka.
Der hat als glühender Anhänger des FC Bayern München Matthäus' Karriere über Jahrzehnte verfolgt. Heute hat der Host der zweiten Staffel von "11 Leben" einen deutlich distanzierteren Blick auf das Fußballgeschäft und die Rolle seines ehemaligen Lieblings. Ihn bewegt die Frage: Wer will dieser Lothar Matthäus eigentlich sein?
Kavka rollt dafür Matthäus' Leben noch einmal auf. Er spricht mit Vertrauten und Mitspielern, Größen des deutschen und des internationalen Fußballs, Matthäus' Freunden – und seinen Rivalen.
