  • You cannot tell the story of Brittanee Drexel without telling the story of Timothy Da'Shaun Taylor. Law enforcement came tantalizingly close in 2011 to arresting Brittanee Drexel's kidnapper and killer, but local investigators were unable to put the last few pieces of the puzzle together at that time. Years later, a fantastical story from a questionable source drew attention away from the real suspect. Suddenly Tim Taylor and his family found themselves trapped in the python-like squeeze of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And it wasn't the first time something like this happened to their family.

In this episode, join host Anne Emerson for Part 2 and more of our exclusive conversation with Tim Taylor and his mother, Joan. Listen as they relive the chain of events that made them Public Enemy No. 1 in the eyes of many across their own community, their home state and beyond.

  • Authorities in May 2022 finally arrested the serial rapist responsible for Brittanee Drexel's death, solving a murder and kidnapping case that cast a shadow over the state of South Carolina nearly 15 years. But the frustrating part is detectives came agonizingly close to solving the case 11 years earlier, and even identified the suspecT: Raymond Douglas Moody.

In this episode you'll hear the horrific 2011 interview investigators conducted with Angel Vause, Moody's girlfriend, as they tried to determine if Moody's history of violent sexual assaults in California was "starting again" in his native South Carolina — with deadly consequences for Brittanee Drexel.

Also, you'll get the reason law enforcement officers say they ultimately weren't able to charge Moody with Drexel's death back in 2011, setting the stage for the false accusations and public railroading of Timothy Taylor and his family.

Look for other interviews with Moody's boyfriend in prison who returned with him to Georgetown after being paroled, and the lead detective whose fresh eyes on Brittanee's case brought led police to the right suspect at the wrong time.

  • Brittanee Drexel was going down the wrong path long before it led to her disappearance. Her Dad saw it happening. He says he even knows when it started. He tried his best to intervene.

In hindsight, her best friend could see it happening, too. But the world looks different through the eyes of 17-year-olds. Instant gratification clouds good choices. Danger hides in plain view.

But with trouble and strife at home, it's not difficult to see how a sharp, cunning and determined young woman such as Brittanee would blaze her own trail in pursuit of what she wanted.

Sadly, Brittanee Drexel's path ended in tragedy, as she walked alone down the streets of Myrtle Beach, 800 miles from home without her parents' knowledge or permission.

In this episode you'll hear intimate, painful details from Brittanee's loved ones about her fateful journey, retracing her steps from the suburbs of Rochester, New York, to the coast of South Carolina.

  • South Carolina's most infamous missing person case of the 21st century reached a stunning climax in May 2022.

Brittanee Drexel was not lost. She was taken, and then she was killed. After 13 agonizing years, the world finally learned by who.

In this episode, we begin laying the foundation of Brittanee's story — from the ominous prelude to her disappearance, to the volatile investigation into her kidnapping and death.

Drexel went on an unsupervised trip to Myrtle Beach in April 2009, leaving her home in New York behind her parents' backs.

Several days into the trip, Drexel simply vanished. The popular teenager suddenly stopped answering calls and text messages. Her friends and loved ones could find her nowhere.

A massive search ensued. Leads poured in. As years passed, investigators narrowed their sights on one potential suspect, only to come up empty.

The case was cold, but then a breakthrough — or so it seemed. A prison informant tells a horrific story, and the FBI unleashes its might on a young man and his family alleged to know what happened to Brittanee.

But the story was a lie. And as still more years passed, the truth remained a secret while Drexel's real kidnapper and killer remained hidden in plain sight.
