On the third anniversary of the Parkland Massacre, the White House issued a statement calling on Congress to enact "common sense" gun control. Their specific calls were for "universal background checks," a new assault weapons ban, and most worryingly a repeal of the protection of lawful commerce in arms act.

The next two-four years are going to be turbulent for gun rights in America. While I'm mildly optimistic that we won't see a new Assault weapons ban, you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll see attempts to expand red flag laws, universal background checks, and a ban on 80% lowers. Perhaps most concerningly are President Biden's statements about repealing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which shields firearms industry business from frivolous lawsuits.

If you've been around the defensive shooting community for a long time, you might have been surprised in 2019 and 2020 by what felt like a sudden surge in popularity for 2011 style pistols. The 2011, for those that don't know, is a double stack version of the venerable 1911 pistol, and uses a modular frame. The largest manufacturer of 2011 pistols is Staccato, formerly known as STI, who recently pivoted from making competition only guns to focusing on the concealed carry and LE market. To help understand Staccato's 2011 pivot, and the surge in popularity of this platform, I invited my old friend Hilton Yam of 10-8 Performance on to talk about 1911s, 2011s, and what people running these platforms need to know.

Conspiracy theory or fact? We get our lead from China?

The NRA is in crisis. Yesterday, the NY State Attorney General filed a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the NRA. I believe that the NRA cannot survive the political onslaught while being led by Wayne LaPierre and his cronies; and we as gun owners cannot afford the loss of the NRA as an organization. It’s time for the Board of Directors to act: it’s time for Wayne LaPierre to go.
