This just in: We're still alive. This also just in: new Fishmans just dropped.
Cool!

It may come as a great surprise, but Fishmans have music videos! They may not be quite to the standards of MTV, but they're certainly something. Who needs MTV anymore anyway? People like to talk all this trash about "Ah, MTV *used* to be about the music! What happened!" or "I was a kid in the 80s and let me tell you, it was so awesome! I remember when the Berlin Wall fell--another win for freedom!" Just complete nonsense. It was never good to begin with! Always a nostalgia trip for you people.
Also some big, relatively important (depending on who you ask) news! The band is back and, perhaps not better than ever, but surely in a pretty spectacular fashion! A reunion just in time for the 30 year anniversary of ひこうき (that means "Airplane"), Fishmans' first ever single, the band + a few others (is this Fishmans+?) jam out for a bit, and though the time zone difference really hit us hard, it was certainly something to remember! The stream also included an interview/quite long Talking session with former bandmate Kensuke Ojima and director of the upcoming Fishmans movie, Yuki Teshima. We're sure some very important information was exchanged, but we sure couldn't tell! Although some info made it through, such as: merch drop, movie release, and even a RateYourMusic shoutout. Yes. Seriously. We're still not entirely sure how to feel about that one.
Either way, enjoy this sort of double episode! Time has passed, and the future truly is "Now".

Consider this an April Fools Day present, except it came out on April 2nd but in a way it's still April Fools. Since Ray and I are a pair of Fools. A pair of Fools now with a pair of microphones! Which reminds me: Ray and I now have our own microphones, so be ready for an enhanced audio experience and a deal with Spotify in the near future.
I know the last description, if you happen to be keeping up with them, alluded to a "part 2" coming "soon", and it took almost 2 months for the "part 2" to come to fruition. We're (I'm) incredibly, unreasonably sorry. But it's okay. In the grand scheme of all things, physical and otherwise, the lifetimes of all universes beyond our own cosmic core, 2 months really isn't that much of a wait. Perspective is key.
The songs discussed in this episode fare much much better than the songs discussed in the last episode. As always, we hope you enjoy. Walk in the rhythm, walk in the rhythm...

I've been informed that this is the first episode of our second season! There's just so much happening in the world that I tend to lose track of what's truly important in my life, like this podcast. I, for one, couldn't have imagined how far we'd end up, but here we are on our second season! I could make a "Long Season" joke right now, but we make one within the first, like, 10 seconds of the episode, and I'd hate to spoil that for you.
So we're back, and we're talking about B-sides, remixes, and rarities, as mentioned in the title. How many seasons before the show falls apart? Place your bets now. Maybe we'll cover that in our next poll. Part 2 soon. Bananamelon.
-
Oh and here's the second part because Anchor won't let me upload the whole podcast as one file. Says it's "too big" or something... whatever.
We go over the concert video (so many lights!) as well as the results from the last poll! Remember that? Our own personal lists kinda banged, but the rest of you all did awful! The lists turned out horribly! It was a disaster! Still, we offer our thanks and wish you a happy and fulfilling rest of the year (a.k.a. like 4 days). Until next time... Stay fishy.

We made it, finally, to The One.
After a most tumultuous year, we gift to you this holiday season, our solemn yet strangely secular review of the sacred “98.12.28 男達の別れ”, blessed be the name. And, like I said in the last description (does anyone read these?), I know this is the only episode you care about. Like, let’s be honest here! I’m sure you thought our other episodes were nice (and you’d totally be right), but *this* is why you’re here. Worry not, I love you all the same, but don’t go around thinking you’re slick! I’ll be transparent about us too, it’s only fair--this is the only episode we care about! There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. We just have to be real with ourselves. Honesty *is* the best policy, after all.
So here you go, you eager bastards! This is for you, for me, for everybody--this is truly what the world needs right now. Of course we bring on Jake, the honorary Fish, to discuss the famed event in all of its passion and glory, and to bid a person or two farewell… Our love is endless, our gratitude plentiful, stay safe and care for one another. We’ll be back. Thank you.

Hey! We forgot we had a podcast.
This is Ray's favorite album. Ever! Truly an enigma... we talk about why he's wrong and why I'm (Cris) always right. Tune in later this month for the album you actually care about (98). This album was also released in 1998. Ray was born in 1998, as a matter of fact. What else happened in 1998, Columbine? No wait, that was 1999! ... Woops!
-
Have you heard this one? You haven't. We don't have much to say about it either.
-
And, we arrive... the final studio album by Fishmans. This one is sad, but it's alright because it only gets sadder from here. Tranquil beats, pleasant melodies, and cozy vibrations can't completely mask the stubborn, nagging feeling that everything is temporary. Everything besides Death, of course. The great equalizer... the only guarantee in life is that It will End. For now, focus on your breakfast... Also please remember to submit your poll response as soon as you can! We'll cover the results in our next episode! Thank you, and much love!
-
This is us (Ray, Cris + Chops) talking about the penultimate Fishmans studio album, "Long Season"--also known as "How in the world did they do it?". When will the Fishmans movie come out? We don't know, and even if we did, we wouldn't tell you. Cheers.
-
Do not let Ray's coughs and grunts confuse you, the Fishcast is in perfectly good health and ready to discuss the first album in the fan-speculated "Setagaya Trilogy"! What does "tempermental" mean? Are these last three studio albums truly part of a "trilogy"? Should you take edibles? So many fascinating queries are posed, and only a few are answered as the duo cordially converses about Fishmans' fifth studio effort. One thing is for certain, however: "新しい人".
-
Remember the listener poll we had in our last episode? We do. We go over the results in this episode. You, the people, did not disappoint! Also we talk about "Oh! Mountain" but that's not nearly as important, because it's "Oh! Mountain." Okay.
You'll be happy to know that we are tackling the "Setagaya Trilogy" next.
-
What's your favorite color? Is it possible this color could be "Orange"? The namesake of Fishmans' 4th studio album? Whatever your answer may be, there's the slightest possibility you may enjoy what Cris and Ray have to say about the 1994 release. Essentially, the band takes on the sounds of funk rock and psychedelia, while also not completely doing that. To resolve any possible confusion, grab a mojito and listen in! The duo has much to say about this album, and sometimes, it's relevant. Was the band referencing the color or the fruit? The duo does not answer this question, though it's more likely the band was referencing the color.

At long last, the Cast returns with their most anticipated review yet! Joined once again by a very special guest, the gang breaks down Fishmans' most popular and widely-acclaimed album "Neo Yankees' Holiday"! Everyone loves this album. There is nothing else to say. Stay fishy.
-
The wait is over! Join the Fishcast once more, along with a very special guest, in this gasoline-fueled deep dive into the elusive and undeniably Nipponese musical journey that is Fishmans' studio album number 2, "King Master George"! Through many technological difficulties, the gang made it work, and the mischievous 16-track album is given the spotlight it deserves. We hope you enjoy the discussion as much as Shinji enjoy's Kit-Kats and Hamburger Steaks.
-
Well, they're back! It's the second episode of FISHCAST, and this time, Cris and Ray discuss the oft-forgotten EP "Corduroy's Mood", hoping to unveil what kind of mood corduroy seems to be in - spoiler alert, it's a pretty good mood! In this review of the band's sole EP, we tackle what it means to truly be Shibuya-Kei, the bands cozy and adorable wardrobe, winter time, and hot chocolate. We may even discuss the music itself! Tune in and find out.

Good Morning - It's the debut episode of FISHCAST! Cris and Ray are here to stay... today, we're breaking down the first Fishmans studio album. During this track-by-track review of "Chappie, Don't Cry," we discuss the band's early sound as well as their "Future." Join us on our fishing vessel as we cast out into the world of Shinji Sato and his musical friends.
