We all have desired outcomes for our childrenâs futures, for our own futures...heck, we even have desired outcomes for the weekend ahead.
What we donât realize is we actually just have a desired feeling that we want to experience.
We donât want to fight with our kids this weekend because we desire to feel peace, not frustration.
We donât want to go to the party we were invited to because we want to feel rejuvenated from our interactions with others, not depleted.
We donât want to dig into the worries we have about our kidsâ futures because we would prefer to feel carefree, rather than stressed.
We seek feelings. It is a natural human instinct-and Iâm so glad that we have it.

The one thing I wish momâs would get on board with is this: Difficult feelings are not dangerous. Difficult feelings are uncomfortable, but they are not dangerous. Youâre meant to experience them. Itâs just your body telling your mind that there is some sort of threat to you ahead....and your body knows how to handle this.

Happy valentines day! Letâs talk about fear...bet you thought I was going to say love, didnât you!?!? We will get there:)
I want you to think about your parenting. Maybe think of the last thing you said to your child. Was it based in fear, or love?
When I come from fear, my kid KNOWS. When I come from love, my kid KNOWS.
Love emits trust and confidence in the relationship.
Fear emits worry and concern and guilt-before anything even happens.
Fear tells our children that they arenât safe. Fear tells them that if they make a mistake, Iâm the last one they should turn to. Fear is a con artist. It sneaks in and laces our really good intentions with dark clouds and unintended words.

I believe it is being offered from God as a gift to my body. A feeling of relief is one that that I can access at any time that I desire it.

I want to give you one thought that can help you in ANY situation.
This, right now, this life that you are living is a dream come true.
The home I live in, the people I am surrounded by, the food I eat, the medications available to me, the vacation ahead, the school my children attend, the job my husband has, the fact that we have computers and beds and cars. This is all a dream come true.
You canât just say it over and over in your head. Well you can, but it wonât land the same. However, saying it with a deep feeling of gratitude will create an entirely different experience.

Through my tears today I share with you something dear to my heart. I know that as a mother, sometimes we feel all alone in our struggles. We feel that we are all alone in helping our kids fight their battles. We feel that we are all alone in advocating for ourselves and our children. Our brains offer us this thought, "I am all alone in this" more often than we can count.

Life is Hard. Guess what? I agree. These things are hard. Being challenged in any way is hard.
Telling yourself âthis is hardâ just doesnât help. âI wish this was easierâ is a similar thought. You are wishing yourself out of the situation you are in.
I get it-there are many trials in my life that I wanted to WISH away. But-you know as well as I do, that just doesnât work.
We are humans, so we go through hard things in our lives. That is just a fact of life.
Sometimes, when we are in a really good mindset, that is enough. Just to accept the FACt that we go through hard things simply because we are human.
Other times, those hard things that we and our kids experience just seem to crush us.
Let's talk about how to move from "This is Hard" to a more helpful mindset where we can actually succeed.
