Between Halloweed and Christmas, we have JUST enough time for Andy, Brennan, and Mike to get one last movie in before the end of the year and the start of our season 4. We decided to make it special this time around and choose some very specific movies, movies that mean not just something to us but also to the podcast itself and our history of the last year together. Up first is Andy's pick: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" 1992! If you had money on ANY other movie, you are not great at gambling because OF COURSE, it's Buffy. How many times has Andy found a way to insert Buffy into almost any conversation? Finally, he gets what HE wants, but how do his friends feel about it? It sure was, but good things come to those who wait and rarely does a tv show take that to heart as much as "The Simpsons". The Treehouse of Horror episodes of this Andy Rice-childhood (and teen, and adult, and hopefully it lasts long enough to say old man)-favorite-sitcom, have always been some of the best episodes, but Fox would never air them until AFTER Halloween, making them even more special as a transitional treat into November. Therefore, we at Fried Rice Podcast are electing to do the same thing, presenting Night 17! The guys got to choose ANY of the MANY MANY MANY Treehouse of Horrors to review. Who chose best?

A certified childhood classic we all loved as children VS a competent sequel? or absolute trash? Find out as we deep dive into Hocus Pocus 1 and 2! Warning: the following ep[isode is for some reason our most vulgar, the longest episode we've ever done, and also the start of our Halloween month, soooo there's a lot going on, buckle up. - Andy
In this spooky season episode of Fried Rice Podcast, we kicked off our Halloween lineup with the classic Hocus Pocus (1993), and it was a nostalgic treat. We had a blast reminiscing about our childhood memories, like being a bit spooked by Bette Midler’s eccentric witch performance or secretly crushing on Sarah Jessica Parker’s character. The nostalgia hit hard as we revisited the film’s campy charm, and we found ourselves genuinely enjoying the blend of humor, fantasy, and Halloween spirit that makes Hocus Pocus such a timeless staple for the season.
Despite the love we have for it, there were some mixed feelings when it came to the humor and pacing. Some of the jokes felt a bit corny when watched with adult eyes, but we agreed that’s also what adds to its charm. The festive atmosphere, with its cheesy one-liners and over-the-top witch antics, still made us smile. We even joked about how the Sanderson sisters would probably be social media stars if they were around today. In the end, we gave it a solid B—Hocus Pocus may not be perfect, but it’s an endearing, nostalgic classic that gets us in the Halloween spirit every time. -AI

Go Go Double Dragons, Dooouble Dragons! Go Go Double Dragons! - Andy
In this episode of Fried Rice Podcast, we took on the hilariously chaotic Double Dragon (1994), a movie that felt like a bizarre mix of Mad Max, Power Rangers, and 90s video game nostalgia. The over-the-top villains, especially Robert Patrick’s bleach-blonde bad guy, had us laughing throughout, and the absurd fight scenes, like the infamous gumball machine slip-up, just added to the ridiculousness. While we had fun mocking the movie’s cheesy action and nonsensical plot, we agreed it was more of a so-bad-it’s-good kind of experience. The final grade was a D, though we appreciated its unintentional comedy. -AI Overlord
